Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 461 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about unhelpful ground staff, strict baggage rules, and completely unresponsive customer service agents when attempting to resolve urgent flight issues. Many consumers also struggled with expensive extra fees, delayed refund processes, and frustrating booking communication that ultimately left travelers stranded without proper support. Though some travelers faced major obstacles, a few passengers mentioned that the onboard staff could be friendly and the aircraft seats reasonably comfortable on certain long-haul flights. Reviewers also noted that certain crew members provided pleasant and polite service during their travel journeys.

No online bording passes long waiting times for check in

We took a flight from Hamburg to Paris. To our surprise we were not able to get our boarding pass through online check in. Even if we only had hand baggage we had to go to the check in desk. The cue was so long and there was only 1 person attending; thus it took ages and even being 2,5 hours before take off was tight in timing. Worst flight experience ever for a short flight within Europe

The verdict is in: Air France discriminates against seniors

For days I have been trying to book a flight on Air France from Paris to Nairobi. I spent 50 euros updating my Senior Pass in hopes I could get a good price. Much to my dismay, in doing the online chat with an agent, it is revealed that not only is the Senior Pass invalid and useless on long distance flights, We pay 50 euros for it thinking it will help, when in fact it is as inept as the AF amateur pilots. On the same front we learn that teens get a 20% discount on the very same route. So in essence, we learn the hard way that Air France discriminates against seniors.

The one star is for the crew

The one star is for the crew. Air France has the best crew members but its customer service sucks. Customer service is everything especially when a passenger is right and have proof. I’ve flown the air line twice . The first time I let my situation go with whatever their rationale was. But I flew the airline on 4/7 arrived in Kenya 4/8. I was attending a wedding on 4/11 and had to leave Nairobi on 4/10. The airline failed to load my suitcase and when I arrived in Nairobi, I did not have change of clothes not even an underwear. The representative told me to check on 4/9 at night when the plane lands, took an uber went there and they told me that they were sorry because the plane flys in every other day which meant it was to arrive on Friday night and I was leaving on Friday morning. It coast me a lot because I had to stop at the mall and bought me a wedding outfit, shoes and clothes to wear as I was going on Safari after the wedding. Did all that and returned on 5/4 to the States. So I filled a claim with my receipts, they responded by first apologizing which is nonsense, they told me that they could not see the dates on the receipts. So I straightened out the receipts and send them to them. After they received the receipts, they said that it was past 21 days and they cannot reimburse anything after 21 days. Internet is not that reliable in Kenya and I told them that I was waiting to get back to the states to be able to file. The status of my case was closed. I tried sending them an email to explain the same and have not heard from them and will not hear from them because my case is closed. Just like that. Fly Air France at your own risk and pray nothing goes as unplanned. They will find the dumbest excuse not to accept liability even when you have proof in your hands. I’m done with them and I’ll tell anyone flying international not to fly Air France. That’s my second experience, I’ve had with them and I’m done.

Worst service ever

Worst service ever. My brand new luggage was broken, and on top of that, your app glitched when I tried to add baggage, forcing me to pay double the price.

Customer support has been nonexistent — no replies, no emails, no proper contact options. Every time I reach out on social media, I only get the same automated response saying you have “high volumes of requests.”

At the airport, your staff told me I had to submit everything within 7 days for my luggage claim to be valid, otherwise it would not be considered. But during that entire time, your company failed to respond or provide any update at all.

Completely unacceptable customer service and extremely disappointing experience.

Delayed Baggage and No Help

On Saturday, May 9th, we left Florence on AirFrance KL1650 to AMS. Unfortunately, because of an overabundance of students studying aboard heading home with HUGE pieces of luggage, our three small carry-on bags were not able to be placed onto the flight. We got to the airport in plenty of time, checked all the bags - paying $94 dollars for the third bag just the day before. We printed the bag tags - but the one we paid for would not print. We stood in a line for two hours and just before the flight was scheduled to take off all of the remaining AMS passengers in line were called to the front of the line to be serviced. (Might I add that AirFrance was severely understaffed with only 4 people at the ticket counter.) Our additional bag tag was printed and we RAN all the way to the gate to find that they had NOT even started boarding the flight which should have left the gate. It ended up taking off 45 minutes late. Once on the plane, the captain came on and stated that the plane had to leave 24 bags behind - and the three of ours ended up being part of those. The captain stated that they would be on one of the next flights later that day, which never happened.

AirFrance never put the bags on the plane and AirBaltic cannot get them to us. And now that we are going home to DTW, the bags remain in FLR.

I have contacted both parties, the VNO and FLR airports and no one will do anything to help us. Help!

Air France has to be the shittiest…

Air France has to be the shittiest airline ever. They take no responsibility for lost baggages, when asked questions about where the luggages are they do not provide any answers or help whatsoever.

Money Taken, No Ticket Issued

Extremely disappointing experience with Air France.

On April 29, I paid for a Bucharest–Paris ticket through their platform. The money was immediately taken from my bank account, but due to an internal Air France system failure, the payment was never linked to the booking. My reservation kept showing as “pending payment” even though they had already charged me.

They could not fix the issue and told me to cancel the reservation, promising a refund.

Weeks later, I am still waiting for my money back.

Because of their incompetence, I lost the opportunity to buy another ticket at the original price, and fares have increased significantly since then. Air France essentially blocked my money while providing absolutely no service in return.

Be very careful when booking with Air France. If something goes wrong, you may spend weeks trying to recover your own money.

Delayed baggage and compensation scam:

Delayed baggage and compensation scam:

Delayed baggage received 2 days past arrival..

Now the delay forced me to purchase essential items at arrival location, which I have not been compensated for since.

It has been more than 10 weeks since claim has been initiated..
Customer support is responding every 4 weeks, trying to find excuses that like information is missing which has been provided from the start.

Lost my luggage i spent 6 months…

the worst airline experiences I have ever had. Air France lost my baggage and left me dealing with the consequences for 6 months. I spent countless hours emailing, calling and chasing updates, only to receive little to no communication. Their customer service was completely unhelpful and showed no urgency despite the fact that my personal belongings were missing.

The most frustrating part is that they only started responding properly after I escalated the matter and reported them to the aviation authorities. Until then, I was repeatedly ignored and left without answers for months. No passenger should have to involve aviation regulators just to get an airline to take responsibility for luggage they lost.

What makes it even worse is that after months of frustration, they refused to properly compensate me for the actual value of my losses. Instead they offered a much smaller amount and called it a “goodwill gesture.” It felt insulting after everything I had been put through.

Air France made a stressful situation far worse through poor communication, lack of responsibility and complete disregard for their customers. I would never recommend this airline to anyone.

Business price without the service

I flew in business on 4/13 from Houston to Paris. There was no wifi and the kosher meal I got in business was outrageous. The flight attendant even said it looked disgusting and that kosher food was usually like not good. I was starving the whole flight. I put a complaint with AF customer service and the response I received from Rosiemary Padille was not only useless but you could tell she could not care less. Discrimination toward certain religious groups is obvious and not new in AF. Avoid it if u want to be treated properly on business.

This company has a HORRIBLE customer service, stay away!

This company has a HORRIBLE customer service and handling. Our flight home from Paris was suddenly cancelled, only hours before departure. All we recieved was a text message with "your flight is cancelled" and a link to a general customer service page. NO phone number to call, NO help from Air France what so ever! It ended up with us booking new tickets with a different airline for €1000, as we needed to get home to our children. We requested a refund the same night we got home, THIS IS THREE MONTHS AGO, and we still have not heard ANYTHING from AirFrance! This is the worst experience we have ever had with an airline, I will NEVER book with Air France again. Have some respect for your customers! It is also impossible to call or get in touch with them to find out why the claim is taking so long. STAY AWAY from this company!

I was flying to Saudi Arabia

I was flying to Saudi Arabia. My stopover was 2 hours in France. All of a sudden, they changed my stopover to 22 hours on the day I was flying. Because of that, we couldn't travel as my wife needed a visa, and it was a last-minute change, which was absolutely poor from them.

If I could give 0 stars I would

If I could give 0 stars I would. I'm not surprised to see such a low rating for this company. 2 months later I am still having to deal with this shambles of a company. I Flew to Paris in March of this year with Air France. We had a delay of 5 hours and a change of aircraft which resulted in my suitcase being lost. It took a month for me to receive my case back. Due to this, I had to buy clothing etc as I had nothing and was told to keep receipts so I could claim it back. I submitted my receipts upon my return, nearly 2 months after submitting my claim I am only being compensated £86 when I actually had to spend over €300 that I otherwise would not have spent due to my trip being to Disneyland. Their reason for this is my invoices don't give a detailed description...Are you wanting an essay Air France of all the things I had to purchase due to your mistake?? They also refunded my husband less money for the delay than myself which makes me think I was probably refunded less than other passengers...Why are you not refunding passengers equal amounts when we all experienced the same delay? Save your time, money and sanity and fly with a different company!

Defrauded by Air France

Air France cancelled second leg of overseas flight, offered $24 refund for 2nd leg cancellation with offer to rebook. I spoke with an Air France rep who confirmed accepting refund would not cancel 1st leg. Then Air France cancelled my entire booking and kept my $1550 forcing me to purchase another, $1660 fare due to tight travel window. They refuse to listen to recording of their agent. This is fraud.

I am requesting a full chargeback for ticket. Scam company

I am requesting a full chargeback for this transaction as the merchant and their partner airline, Air France, failed to provide the services purchased and fundamentally breached the contract of carriage under UK/EU 261/2004 regulations. On May 1st, 2026, I was involuntarily denied boarding on flight AF1581 due to illegal overbooking by Air France. Despite my timely arrival at Heathrow Terminal 4, Air France personnel were unhelpful, refused to provide the legally mandated "Duty of Care" or rerouting, and effectively abandoned me at the airport. While Air France staff falsely assured me my return journey would remain valid, the merchant subsequently and without my consent cancelled my entire return booking. These cumulative failures forced me to pay £270 for a one-way Eurostar ticket and a further £155 for an emergency flight from Paris Orly back to the UK to reach my pregnant wife and infant son. I am seeking a full reversal of the original charges as both the merchant and the airline abandoned their legal liabilities, refused to provide the service I paid for, and caused significant financial and emotional damages.

Reservation disappeared, forced to buy new ticket – no response

I rarely leave reviews, but this experience with Air France and Flying Blue was unacceptable.

Due to a family emergency, I had to change my miles ticket twice. Each time required 1.5–2 hours on the phone, with multiple calls being disconnected.

On the second change:

* I was charged again (miles + taxes)
* I received confirmation
* I could see the flight in my account

The day before departure, the reservation had completely disappeared.

At the airport, Air France staff confirmed there was nothing they could do. I was told to call Flying Blue again — the call was dropped again 3 times next to the AF incredulous staff member.

I had no choice but to buy a brand new ticket on the spot to get home.

What’s worse:

* I submitted a formal complaint → no response
* call center quality is extremely poor (noise, disconnections, communication issues, don’t speak either French nor English properly!)
* this process is completely outdated compared to other airlines

This is not just bad service — this is a system failure that leaves customers stranded.

I am now escalating this to aviation authorities.
