Alevere is by far the best programme i have been on

Alevere is by far the best programme i have ever been on. I weighed over 20 stone and lost 6 stone in 23 weeks. Now let me be clear, this weight loss was 'fat loss' not water or muscle but FAT. This is the difference with this programme v all others.
Having a medical and a full blood test took away any other reason as to me not being able to lose weight.
It took me a week to get into the programme, but I never felt hungry nor tired, in fact i had more energy in the afternoons as i did not get that sleep feeling after lunch.
The treatments really do work. I have no lose skin after the weight loss and they are extremely pleasant to have - just like having a weekly massage.
The gradual introduction back to food a stage at a time really helps you get organised and understand the size of portions that will keep the weight off long term.
If you are over weight - this is the best investment you can make - after all its your health that really matters.
Yes the programme is more than other programmes but it does work and if you stick correctly to the programme its impossible not to lose weight.

Alevere is sort of a extreme Atkins diet with some treatments involved. I lost 2 stone in about 2 months. You could do diets elsewhere but this speed you need a doctor checking on you and the treatments to make sure you look okay afterwards.

Be aware the plan does not work for everyone

I can't give more than one star for my experience with the Alevere diet plan because it did not give me the rapid weight loss it promised. So beware, before you part with your money, it does not shift weight rapidly for everyone.

I lost 1lb in week one, 1lb in week 2 and 2.5lb in week 3 so I didn't continue on the plan after week 4 because at that rate if loss I would be bankrupt before I reached my target weight. And yes, I had stuck rigidly to the plan with no cheating.

The therapists I met were all lovely, professional and helpful but that's no consolation when the weight is coming off so slowly.

I have had a tremendous experience with …

I have had a tremendous experience with the Alevere clinic in Leeds. I did the diet 7 years ago but stopped prematurely as I had some personal challenges (nothing to do with the diet).

I have returned and there are some of the same staff; receptionists, doctors and therapists. They are all lovely and very supportive. It really does matter.

I think you get out what you put in to anything like this. You need to remember that although this is a business they genuinely do want you to succeed. It is a partnership.

There is no denying that it is not easy and requires sacrifice, people telling you you are nuts but to see the weight go and to see yourself returning is amazing. The treatments certainly help your skin to compensate for the fast weight loss.

If you struggle with your weight and are determined then this is definitely a good way to go. I know there is a cost but I for one think it is very worthwhile.

Good song, shame about the singers!

Alevere is a commercial implementation of a medically supervised low calorie, low carbohydrate diet for people who are substantially overweight.

There are several phases to the diet. In the first phase, you take five sachets a day and incorporate allowed vegetables and some fruits twice a day.

There is no doubt that the diet works. This is very close to the Diabetes Reversal diet of Professor Roy Taylor of the University of Newcastle. You can expect to lose about 1.5 to 2 kg per week in the first weeks.

But this is a hard diet. You will probably be consuming less than 1000 calories per day; in our case, it was closer to 750 calories per day. You are expected to drink quite a lot of water (between 2 and 3 litres of water per day) which is both difficult and will cause frequent dashes to the toilet. Constipation, stomach upsets and flatulence will occur disturbingly frequently. All these awful things, however, are compensated for by seeing the numbers on the scales reduce every day. In the beginning, the rapid rate of weight loss compensates you for the pain you are going through.

The cost is approximately £130 per week for the treatments (weekends which is when we could make it), approximately £130 per week for the sachets (7 x £18.50) and around £30 per week for associate supplements, blood-tests and so on. You should therefore budget approximately £1250 per month.

There are weekly treatments of both ultrasound (to break up fat cells) and the high intensity vacuuming of the skin to promote collagen assisted tightening of loose skin to mitigate the side-effects of rapid weight loss.

These weekly treatments are carried out by therapists who are not paid a great deal and who are very variable in both expertise and social ability. Further, because of the surprisingly high staff turnover, any therapist who is both competent and personable cannot be depended on to be there the next week. If you are lucky enough to find a therapist who is both competent and human, then you are very lucky. Just pray that the therapist is there next week!

However, your rate of weight loss will tail off with time and therefore you cannot depend on the same weight loss every week. You are now past the honeymoon stage, the going gets tough, temptation is harder to resist.

We discovered that it was really important that the human support you receive is of the best quality possible, particularly in the latter stages of the diet. This unfortunately is where Alevere falls down badly and so does the diet.

With my wife and myself, there came a point when our weight loss was tailing off, the therapists who had not yet left were truly awful with one notable exception, the response to repeated complaints was simply inadequate and consisted of a number of bleated apologies without any attempt to fix the underlying problems.

Some of our low moments included:
Waiting for 15 minutes while the therapists chatted amongst themselves and then having a shortened treatment for which the whole fee was charged
One apparently OCD therapist stating that there were evil people in the world and that I must stay horizontal until she left the room for her sake
One therapist shouting because I was unwise enough to point out that she had put down the wrong blood pressure
The same therapist shouting because I was even more unwise enough to point out that she had put the wrong phase down on the treatment sheets
The practice manager discussing our medical matters in the reception room in front of other clients despite repeated requests for privacy
The practice manager telling me that our concerns were unfounded
Complete lack of response to my wife's complaints regarding lack of privacy

Our son is at another branch and his experiences of mistake & arrogance mirror ours to some extent, showing that this is not an isolated incident at one location.

Good song, shame about the singers!
