Poor customer service

I am gutted as I write this as I read fantastic reviews of this company. I placed an order on 27/08/25 and until now (04/09/25) have had no contact from the company about my order, despite sending queries via email and WhatsApp. The customer service is extremely disappointing.

Excellent Customer Service

My order was delayed! Annette rang me to advise that her first batch did not meet with her exacting standards so she needed to start again!! I very much appreciated the personal contact but there was more..much more!!

Annette hand delivered my order to my home and gave me additional products as an apology and acknowledgement of the delay!

Brilliant Customer Service! I would have been content with the phone call; thank you so much for proving that I was more than an order number.

Almocado is unmatched for sisterlocs

Almocado is a lovely family-run business that I enjoy supporting because I know I’m getting good quality natural hair products for my Sisterlocs. I’ve tried using other products for my Sisterlocs and nothing else comes close to Almocado products. Ordering from Almocado is always a smooth process and I especially love receiving the beautifully handwritten note with my name on it that comes with each delivery.

The Owner is Not Nice

The owner is rude,unhelpful and unpleasant and delivery is slow.

Imagine running a business where you don't send an order for over two weeks, don't update the customer on the order status then have a big attitude when the customer politely emails you asking for an update on their order. What a joke.

I have always been a regular customer and tried to support this small business but won't purchase from such a horrible business owner again.

RESPONSE TO ALMOCADO: I don't have the time to read your essay of a response (busy life 😘).
But it's clear what type of person you are from your longwinded passive aggressive response. It's a Shame you don't put the same amount of effort into providing good customer service and despatching your orders in a reasonable amount of time. All the best!

We clearly explain that all our products are handmade and if you preorder or place an order for a product while it is out of stock we will need additional time (minimum 14 working days) to make and sign off on your products as we like to ensure that quality controls are met for each and every one of the natural products we ship out with our name on it.

"The Owner is Rude, unhelpful"...
I am the owner and I have not met or interacted with you prior to having to respond to this negativity, so it is a shame that you feel the need to call me names and slander my business online.

As a family owned and operated business it is my responsibility to check on the actions of my team and investigate the concerns of any unhappy customer. I can see from our email logs that we kept you abreast of what was happening with your order every step of the way: from the time it entered the queue for processing, needed to be held pending manufacture, when it was manufactured through to when it was ready for despatch; we also replied to each of your emails and contact messages within our working hours.

When we receive correspondence claiming we have not replied to one or more emails, our autoresponse is to explain that we always respond to customer emails and could you kindly check your junkmail folder for our replies - usually tempers can be calmed and answers received quite swiftly this way. Unfortunately, in this case it has resulted in a barrage of negative reviews.

Our beloved customers have made us aware that certain providers are marking our mail as spam, to mitigate against this your Order Confirmation email contains a kind request for customers to whitelist our addresses so they don't miss important updates about the progress of their order or our replies to their correspondence. You’re also aware of this as your mail provider has previously sent our correspondence to your Trash folder so us asking you to check isn’t rude or having an attitude, it was part of us trying to be helpful and to ensure you don’t keep missing our updates.

"...and Delivery is slow..."
Had you ordered a product that was in stock your order would have been shipped within two business days. Products that need to be made to order require additional time. This is explained in our T&Cs and displayed during the checkout process so you have the option of abandoning your order before parting with any money and confirms you're happy for us to start making your products.

Depending on the shipping option selected, your order can arrive
a) the next business day from despatch,
b) within 48 hours of despatch or
c) the "No Rush" option which delivers within 5 working days. Please note that you selected the “No Rush” Option. There have been ongoing Mail strikes which have impacted some deliveries and while we have done our best to ensure orders are sent out before the strikes, we are unable to anticipate which deliveries may be affected by this action or the resultant backlogs.

“Will not be purchasing from this company again.”

We are disappointed to hear that you will no longer be purchasing from us based on your most recent experience, given that you were previously a happy repeat customer.

We appreciate, as always, the opportunity to serve you and continue to learn from our interactions with all our customers. We will use the knowledge gained here to inform future engagement, including reminding customers to check junk mail for our correspondence before sending abusive emails or writing unfavourable reviews. We’re doing our best here.

Every order matters to us, every customer becomes a valued member of the Almocado family, but we understand that if something isn’t working self-care is paramount and it’s okay to walk away.

I love the personal touch in your customer service

I ordered stage 1 Seaweed Shampoo (Strands Together) towards the end of July as I had run out of my Sisterlocs shampoo. I ordered because I loved the explanation to why the founder decided to create her own shampoo. I also find the original sisterlocs shampoo to be 'drying' on my new locs.

The Almocado website does state that items are hand made and may take longer than usual to arrive, so I thought I'd order early, in the hope that I'd have it by the time I was due to wash my hair (before my retie early August). The order took just over 1 and a half weeks to arrive, which was fine. The only thing was that the first few days of August I emailed to ask about a due date and was not receiving any response. Furthermore, Royal Mail tracking was absolutely useless, so I ended up having to buy a replacement (basic store bought) shampoo the morning I was due to wash my hair. This did annoy me, especially since I ended up receiving the shampoo a few hours later - before I had washed my hair. I was grateful though.

Prior to my buying a cheap replacement shampoo, I wrote an email complaining about a lack of response, I then followed it up with another email after I had received my order - just to let them know it had arrived. I finally received an email from them explaining that they had been responding to my emails and perhaps the emails had gone to my spam folder. I then checked my spam, and lo and behold, their emails 'sat' there looking at me. :-) Darn my email service provider.

What blew me away, was that they (Almocado) also contacted me later that evening on WhatsApp just in case I had not received their explanation email. This was a such an 'over and beyond' personal touch for me. I was impressed.

Anyway, of course I ended up washing my hair with my new Almocado shampoo, and although it was not as easy to get a good soapy lather with the first wash, my hair immediately felt softer and smelt lovely. After finishing my wash, I left my hair to air dry as normal and the softness remained. It felt really great - and my scalp did not feel dry. Almost a week later, my scalp still feels good.

I love the shampoo. Thank you Almocado!

Great product, great customer service

The Customer Service standards makes it an absolute pleasure doing business with this online company. My locs are particularly in love with their Sandalwood Vanilla Moisture Mist and their Avocado Honey Replenishing Hair Silk Leave In Conditioner. These two products are stellar quality, really moisturising, and they smell wonderful too. I've been using them for approx 4 years now, and the quality has always been consistently high.

Reluctant to buy again

Dear Almocado,

Thank you for your reply.

Firstly I would like to apologise regarding one inaccuracy, in that I did receive an email from you on Monday 6th September, informing me you had been following up the issue with RM and hoped to reunite me with my order soon. This was overlooked and I appreciate your communication, however, there are some points you mentioned below that I do not agree with and would like to clear up.

1) I did manually enter my home address for delivery, however just before payment, your system allowed me to select an alternative address from a drop down list. The address I chose was a delivery collection point, due to previous theft of packages in my area. I do not consider it my responsibility to find out which courier you use and to ensure they deliver to the addresses listed at the checkout point on your website. Because you do not except liability for delays and non-delivery, I do believe that it is the company's responsibility to ensure a delivery address listed on their site can accept orders from particular couriers, for sponsorship reasons.

2) The data could not have been pre-populated by my browser, as I have an app which stops this from happening. However, This morning I re-visited your website and can see that the drop down in the address section has been removed. This is great to see and will ensure the correct delivery of future orders.

3) In point 5, you mention that the matter would require the involvement of several external parties. Had I been made aware of this, I would have been more patient and understanding, but your lack of information was unclear. I would also like to add that I was NOT repeatedly asked to allow you the required time to complete the investigation and receive an appropriate responses from RM, I was asked only once in an email dated 2nd September. You also did not state what the required time is. I do not appreciate such an untruthful account.

The reason for my review is not for a war but because I felt there was unclear communication and lack of urgency from the supplier. This may be your process but the service felt a little slow in operation, perhaps this is due to the operating office hours. I guess I was looking for a more personal service to put my mind at ease but understand if there is no telephone service available.

As stated before, I have received the products and the Seaweed shampoo and Peppermint Tea Mist are working wonders for my hair. I update my ratings due to this.

We're happy to hear that you've received your products and thank you for your feedback; however we'd like to address some inaccuracies in your account.

1) Each customer must manually enter their desired delivery address, our website does not prepoulate or autofill addresses. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure the address is entered correctly and completely as we are not liable for delays or non-delivery due to incorrect addresses - this is why we kindly ask each customer to double check their address information in the Order confirmation email.

2) Our website does not offer a "Click and Collect" service or automated "Deliver to Collection Point" functionality, and no suggested Collection Points are presented. Any data listed in the delivery address section can only have been entered by the Customer. Perhaps this data was prepopulated by your browser in accordance with your auto-fill settings.

3) Our Customer Services agents are available between 9:30 am and 3pm (GMT) Monday to Friday; and we aim to respond to queries within 24 hours. We do not have telephone support.

4) Your order was delivered on August 26th; we received your query in the evening of August 31st and it was processed during office hours on Sept 1st - when we first responded to you and began our investigation, the preliminary results of which confirmed the package as delivered at the address you provided.

5) As you subsequently advised us that the Convenience Store did not accept Royal Mail deliveries, the matter required escalation and the involvement of several external parties. To help determine whether the package had been misrouted in error, lost or stolen we repeatedly requested that you kindly allow us the required time to complete the investigation and receive appropriate responses from Royal Mail.

6) Our last update was sent to you on Sept 6th, and as you've confirmed receipt of your parcel, we've closed the investigation.

We're happy to hear that you have indeed received your order, which indicates that the Store did receive the parcel on your behalf but may have misplaced it as can happen at times.

We're disappointed to hear you may not return but we sincerely hope you enjoy your products as delivered.

You’ve just got to try it!

I have been using Almocado products for several years. The peppermint and tea tree spritz and peppermint shampoo is my bible. All the ingredients are vegan friendly and organic plus they do what they say they are going to do. My hair and scalp has never been healthier but don’t take my word for it, you’ve got to try Almocado for yourself.

Amazing natural hair products

Quality products that smell and feel amazing.

Love alcomado products, they make my 4C hair feel and smell amazing. I especially love the conditioners which are thick with lots of slip and the leave-ins which are nice and thick and smell heavenly. You can tell the difference in quality compared to something you pick off a shelf in Superdrug. Will definitely keep ordering again :)

Great natural products

I got their Herbal Hair Masque, and my hair feels soft and less frizzy after each use. Glad I have found this brand that makes natural cosmetics and I’m looking forward to trying more of their products.
