I ordered 500 sheets of printed wrapping paper. The order process, proof process and lead time was all fine, absolutely no complaints there. The product is as expected, and I am happy with it. However, there was a problem with my order being damaged during transit, and the resulting customer service left a lot to be desired.

The delivery arrived whilst I was out, so I couldn’t refuse it due to damage. I arrived back, I could see all corners of the box were squashed, and one was particularly bad. I could see on the delivery photo it was like this when the courier left it. I took photos of the box, a video of me opening it, and photos of the damaged paper. 39 sheets of the paper were crushed and creased at the corners and could not be flattened out, about a quarter of the paper was bent (but could be flattened under something heavy).

I got in contact with ALP straight away, and politely asked for this to be rectified, providing proof. They responded, offering me a 10% discount if I were to order again, for which I would have to get in contact to receive, and saying that there would likely be more sheets in the box than the 500 ordered. I responded, politely again, thanking them for the offer of the discount, which I thought was good by way of an apology, but that I thought it would be more appropriate to receive a refund for the damaged 39 sheets which could not be used, and that the only way of knowing exactly how many sheets were in the box would be to count them, which wasn’t something I could reasonably do. I thought this was a reasonable (and very normal) request.

I got another email back, saying they would agree to the refund but their Production Director “just wanted to respectfully point out that almost certainly there would be enough extra sheets in the delivery to have made up the difference.” I reminded them again that counting the sheets wasn't something they could reasonably expect me to do, and that this wasn't my fault, that this was the fault of the courier, and that their costs, I assume, could be refunded / reclaimed via insurance, given the damage. I don’t understand the weird level of ‘beef’ that was coming my way about this, it felt petty and nasty.

Asking for a partial refund for a partially damaged item is normal and reasonable, but they were acting as if I was being wholly unreasonable towards them by asking for some of my money back. I don’t know if I will ever use their service again, which is a shame, as the product was good… But I feel that if something goes wrong, this odd customer service attitude is going to rear its head again, and I’m not sure I want to risk that.

I've been working with A Local Printer for around three years and they are brilliant! Their product quality is excellent, and the team are always helpful and friendly.

I've used ALP for years now, the quality is the best around and always a quick turnaround. I had a printing error on a recent order and within 4 days of letting them know I had received a replacement. I don't think i'll go back to getting my cards printed anywhere else! Thank you :)

I have been very happy with all my interactions with A Local Printer. They've been keen to help, even putting themselves out when I had given the wrong date that I needed something printed by, making sure I got my items in time. I also like how the packaging is in line with their environmentally friendly ideals.

I believe Alocalprinter are dogged in their approach & do not appear to be concerned when a customer is not happy with their service.

In my view they are unprofessional, although good reviews (when things go right) give them the appearance of being upstanding. They have little regard for doing the right thing when things go wrong.

My print was late - I wasn't happy with the result when it arrived- they were not interested in finding a mutual solution - leaving me with financial losses.

They can afford a few bad reviews which is unlikely to affect them or change their behaviour.

ALP Printers delivered our invoice pads in super quick time. The service was professional and swift. Will be very happy to use them again.

Terrible customer service when I had a concern with an order i was passed around from person to person initially then unsatisfactory final outcome to my concern . It is very easy to make an error with the online order service , even when I when I attached a comment in the order form comments box to help avoid any misunderstanding with the proof process it was ignored and created a very costly printing error for me which a simple email or phone call from a member of the alp team could have resolved. The company refused to reprint and asked me to reprint again at my own cost . I would not recommend using them.

Exellent job! Eco friendly company, brilliant quility products and friendly staff. Big variety of products, I have printed cards and notebooks. The notebooks are sewn by hand- how special! Will definitely keep using them for my products.

Sticker quality is lovely. We went for the paper finish and it has a gorgeous matt effect. Colours were accurate and printing was sharp.
