If I could give them a zero star I…

If I could give them a zero star I would!

Having recently moved countries to the US I have been met with the poorsest service I have ever known. If you are reading this and have been persueded to get a US amex after having one in another country then don't! Card doesnt work, wasted hours trying to fix it, no one bothering to call you. Utter waste of time and wish I had never attempted to use them.

Abysmal company

Abysmal company , support ran by mindless robots reading a prompt with no critical thinking. I have paid them tens of thousands of dollars on time every single time. Out of nowhere decreased limits on all my cards causing my overall limit negatively impact my credit score. Whoever thought of a moving target for business cards is a complete moron.

**Very Disappointed with American…

**Very Disappointed with American Express – Not There When I Needed Them Most**

I have three American Express Platinum cards with high spending limits, and I have always been a responsible customer. I consistently pay my bills on time and have never had any payment issues.

However, when I needed to rely on American Express the most to help me open and grow my new business, my spending limits were drastically reduced.

This has been extremely disappointing and frustrating\. After years of being a loyal customer and maintaining a good payment history, I expected better support from American Express.

What is the point of having three Platinum cards and paying their expensive annual fees if I can’t rely on them when I actually need them?

I honestly don’t feel that American Express values my loyalty or supports me as a business owner\. A company that promotes itself as a premium financial partner should stand behind its responsible customers, especially when they are trying to grow their businesses.

**Very disappointed with American Express. This experience has made me seriously question whether it’s worth continuing my relationship with them.

Underwhelming and unremarkable

I'm surprised that Amex has such a low rating on here, but I also can't provide much of a defense for them. I'm a long term customer, Platinum card holder, and over the past few years have gone from advocate to actively researching options to close my accounts and move on.

Amex isn't awful, but they are so far short of being the premium/exclusive brand they try to position themselves as. Benefits are increasingly either difficult to use or just underwhelming. Centurion lounges still have crowding issues, the food went downhill, as have the bars. the general customer service line is not good, platinum line is better but honestly just feels like how customer service used to be generally... polite, helpful, efficient. Nothing noteworthy or high touch. Their app and website are just not well designed and discourages you from trying to use your benefits because you don't want to deal with the frustration

Ultimately, my issue with Amex is that their operations and customer service no longer match what they promise in their marketing, and

Not receiving welcome email

So far, I am giving AMEX a two star and I haven't even received my credit card yet. This is why I cannot make it fully a one star

The issue starts with the fact, my brother-in-law who lives a couple streets over from me applied for his card, the same AMEX card, the same day I did, he applied before and then sent me the referral link for me to apply maybe 2 hours later. My brother-in-law actually received his AMEX card within four business days, prior to receiving his card, he received a welcome email to be able to activate his card and start making an online purchases, etc. By 4 business days I have yet to receive the welcome email, or my Card and remember I said we live a couple streets away from one another, so therefore, I should've received mine relatively within the same timeframe. I made a call to customer service to see if I could receive the welcome email as I'm aware the card could take up to 10 business days to come however, (I was expecting it a little bit sooner whereas my brother-in-law who lives very close to me received his)

Let's talk about customer service. They can barely speak English, I simply asked to have the welcome email sent to me as I did not receive it, she proceeds to tell me that that's not something she can send to me. I had to clarify to make sure it's just something they physically cannot go in the system and regenerate because again I could not understand her basic English. She stated yes I indeed cannot receive the welcome email unless it's automatically sent to me. I didn't believe her so I ended up calling customer service again which I received another representative with a little bit better English, but not as good however I felt confident with him. He then said the exact same thing in different wording that unfortunately if I didn't receive it, pretty much too bad so sad but in nice terms. I've worked for numerous different types of call centers, credit card ones, reservation ones, sales, etc whenever a customer called and said they did not receive a specific auto generated email we were able to go in and resend the customer that exact email. It's crazy to me that as big as American Express is, they do not have a feature for that. This becomes extremely inconvenient. I understand the email states you will receive your card within 10 business days, but the fact that I was told pretty much too bad so sad, basically you're gonna have to wait for your card but some customers are just the lucky chosen ones and will receive an email that basically should be available to absolutely all clients. I've missed out on so many opportunities to use this card within the last week alone just simply by not receiving something that should be easy enough to receive this welcome email and yes, I am irritated by it. Like I said, my brother-in-law not only got his card in four days, and I would've been OK with waiting for the physical card so long as I was able to be a chosen one and could've activated my card prior.

It states my card is due to arrive by the 8th of October, which is in two days and if I do not receive my card on the 8th, I will be completely cancelling it because that's absolutely ridiculous.

On top of not receiving the card, I get a daily email reminding me to activate my credit card and telling me I have not activated my credit card yet. I KNOW BECAUSE I HAVEN'T RECEIVED IT AND YOU GUYS CAN'T SEND ME A WELCOME EMAIL. Pretty much adding salt to an open wound at this point remind me every day that I haven't received my card yet, but go ahead and use something that you haven't got. For somebody who is an avid user of their credit card, this is not a very efficient way of doing things. And I can honestly say if this happens again in the future and I need to let save replace a card or their mailing me a new card and it takes this long and I cannot have access to my card that will be an automatic cancel.

Extremely disappointing service from…

Extremely disappointing service from American Express. After more than 15 years as a customer, I expected far better support when I disputed a subscription charge I did not recognize. Instead, my claim was denied without a clear explanation, leaving me to resolve the issue myself.

When I contacted the merchant directly, they refunded me with barely any questions. The fact that the merchant handled this so easily makes American Express’s response even more frustrating. Their dispute process felt unhelpful and dismissive, and my years of loyalty seemed to count for nothing.

This experience has seriously damaged my trust in American Express. A company that promotes customer service should do much better than this. After 15 years, I am questioning why I should continue giving them my business.

WORST EXPERIENCE I’VE EVER HAD WITH A…

WORST EXPERIENCE I’VE EVER HAD WITH A BANK.
After 29 years as an American Express customer and having seven cards with them, I never missed a payment. Not once. Despite my loyalty and perfect payment history, American Express closed my accounts because I refused to give a third-party company access to my personal and business tax information.

I have every right to be concerned about who gets access to my private financial information and how it may be used. Instead of respecting my privacy and offering a reasonable alternative, they chose to close my accounts.
After 29 years, this is how they treat a loyal customer. I will never do business with American Express again.
If you value your privacy, loyalty, and being treated with respect, think twice before trusting American Express. I strongly recommend staying away from them

STAY AWAY. They should be reported

We had an American Express Card in the US. We relocated to Canada. Our credit score was very good. We transferred our card to Canada. We provided all the documents they required during relocation. We came to Canada, we received only one card for the authorized user. One thing to note - if you ever move to a new country, you usually don't have a bank account in the new country. So after making three transactions for a total amount of 1200 CAD, amex suspended the account. Then they required two paystubs and two bank statements to confirm our identity. They gave us 15 calendar days to do so. Guess what - you don't have two monthly statements within even a month after relocation. They wouldn't listen to any of our explanations. I don't even understand why we made all the effort with transferring our card from the US. With that, they required our passports, bills, bank statements from the US. This company in Canada is a complete disaster. Now, we ended up with damaged credit card history, no credit cards and no banks willing to give us even the most basic version of a credit card.
At this point, we only want to close this account. But, you can't really make a payment before you get the statement from them. So, we got the card we can't use, them asking for a whole bunch of documents (we could only give them one monthly statement and one paystub from Canada) threatening to cancel all of our products, and yet still being unable to get out of this madness. STAY AWAY FROM THOSE SHITTY "BANKERS"

No customer service at all.

No customer service at all.
No e-mail
No chat
Only possibility by call (and even that it's really hard to get in Kontakt)
For a company who runs a financial business and not have means to be reached, worst decision ever if someone decides to uses their services. Even small things, get bigger and bigger because they are unreachable. NOT RECOMMENDED

This is the worst customer service I…

This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced with any business. They hid their annual fee and when I requested to close the card and be refunded within 30 days of opening the card (which is their procedure), they didn't execute it. Multiple cases have been opened, spoke with multiple customer service agents that assured me that it was being escalated and someone would get back to me and there has been no communication at all. Not even responses to the cases.

After 10 years as a customer

After 10 years as a customer, Amex reduced the limit on our Business Gold card to £2,100 without any prior notice or explanation. No letter, no email, no phone call and no text message.

As a result, payments to suppliers for essential services, including website hosting, email hosting and advertising, were declined. These are services our business depends on.

To be treated this way after a decade of loyalty is deeply disappointing. We’re now in the process of moving to another provider.

Based on our experience, I would strongly advise other businesses to think carefully before relying on Amex for essential payments. An unexpected limit reduction could put your business at risk.

I canceled my account with them

I canceled my account with them. I was approved for a $7,000 limit. I had about $400 on it and was going to make a $3k purchase. Checked my account. It was in good standing Never missed a payment and paid more than the minimum. Went to make the 3k purchase, denied. Tried again. It was denied again. They lowered my limit to $2,800. No warning or otherwise. Contacted customer service. They said it was because I didn't pay the balance in full every month. What's the point of a credit card, if you don't need a credit card? So I today them I would pay off the balance and cancel. That's exactly what I did.

Most of the rewards are good but they…

Most of the rewards are good but they seem to intentionally try to take advantage of people with the hotel credit. It will show up on their system but at the very end of confirmation email will say it’s not part of the benefit. Also, you have to wait 90 days to submit a claim which I’ll reach out sooner because I would have cancelled it and made other arrangements. Highly disappointed especially with customer service!

PATHETIC

Please don't use this card as it serves no purpose.
They only want your 799.00 a year.
They do everything to prevent you from using the card.
I have cancelled them.
Why didn't I do it sooner.
