Always had lovely meals in here

Always had lovely meals in here, portions are good size, Sunday Roasts are lovely , waiting staff all very friendly , lovely and cosy pub. The only thing that lets this pub down is the toilets!

Terrible restaurant service

I had 3 elderly guests so had specifically selected a lunch venue with car parking. On arrival, I was told that the car park was only for hotel guests even though this is not stated on the website. The gentleman at the restaurant reception was extremely rude and abrupt completely ignoring me when protesting about the parking. Anyway, we decided to stay for lunch and placed our order of two Chicken Meals and two fish. the waitress returned to inform us that although there were only two other people in the restaurant they had been busy so no chicken. We therefore ordered four fish meals. The waitress arrived with three of the meals and informed us that there was a problem with the fryer and that the fourth meal would be 10 minutes or so. We received no apology for the terrible service and would not recommend the venue to anyone.

They apparently don’t want your business…..

Wow! I’ve been going here regularly for about 30 years; it’s close, it’s convenient, and it used to be friendly. But tonight I and a bunch of friends (about 10 of us - from a local book club) went to celebrate - and were effectively made to leave because apparently their ‘policy’ doesn’t allow multiple rounds (I.e. more than 2) for small groups; the manageress on duty was very clear / fairly brutal on that point, declining to serve us. So I won’t be going back - ever. And I can’t recommend it to anyone that wants to relax with a few friends over drinks; they apparently won’t serve you. There are many other great pubs in the town, so I suggest you avoid embarrassment / disappointment and use those instead.

Michelin star-level lunch served up with excellent choice of wine…

For my 83rd birthday I booked lunch at the pub for me and my wife as we were on a coach trip to the Lymington street market. We chose Houmous with charred flatbread to share - smooth and tasty. I had the chicken, ham hock and pea pie with carrots, kale and mash with gravy. Kale can be tough and boring, but this was tended and tasty. The pie was delicious. My wife chose pan fried chicken with chorizo, spinach, sauteed potatoes and semi-dried tomato tapenade, broccoli and saffron aioli etc. The flavour combination worked - all cooked to perfection. As to the wine we had wanted the Lebanese red but they were out of it so on the waitress’s recommendations chose a Spanish red ;'time waits for no-one'. That went well. As it was my birthday I did have a dessert and had Burnt Basque cheesecake with mango sauce, pineapple, mango and mint salsa and Madagascan ice cream - all the elements went well together. Finished with coffees served with mini-brownies. Complementary prosecco provided as it was a birthday! We cannot remember enjoying such an exquisite meal as this.

The Angel & Blue Pig: 5 Stars says it all... Angel & Blue Pig a must.

We got to Lymlington in time for an evening meal and searching the high street for a suitable place and we found 'The Angel & Blue Big'. We had a quick look inside and was warmly greeted with energy by Manager. We hadn't booked and despite this he found us a very nice cosy corner. The decor is fresh, clean and depending where you want to site can be cosy and relaxing. Waitresses were very attentive, positive, and engaging.

Food: we had the specials, soup of the day followed by one order for a delicious Honey Roast Ham Hock and one Roast Chicken. Both dishes were superb, and I would recommend anyone to try the Ham Hock while it's on the specials, really was lovely. Drink: we stuck with Ale and had some local Ringwood Blonde, they did have a good choice to select from. Good to see pubs/restaurants stocking local brews.

5 stars says it all for this venue, warm, welcoming, friendly and fantastic cuisine, couldn't recommend it enough. I couldn't see how a previous reviewer say this venue is more pub than restaurant... It's so not. Its a restaurant with a bar. Also someone said about it being over priced, well compared to their local Harvester is might be but to us, it perfect valve for this food and service. See my Tuesday review for over priced restaurant... The Angel & Blue Pig was half price of my previous review but had better service, atmosphere and food.
