Made a claim for first time after years of paying the insurance to be told I can’t claim. Tried to contact animal friends. On hold for ages. Filled in a form for them to discuss this and still not heard from them. Very disappointing and unprofessional

Claims are paid promptly. Customer Services are very helpful if I’ve needed to contact them and appreciate being able to speak to a person and not a bot.

My dog needed out off hour’s treatment, cost £500 to see Vet, animals friends only paid £200, so don’t use these or don’t take your animals out of hours, plus I was charged two excess of £159 each for the same condition.

Animal Friends have been brilliant. They went out of their way to allow me to do a continuation of cover for our dog Milo when my mother-in-law his previous owner passed away.
Milo has sadly had lots of issues and medical problems since then and they have settled them all promptly and without challenge which has been a relief when dealing with a very poorly pet. It has meant we have been able to give him the best of care without worrying about the financial implications.

After a claim was denied in January 2026 and I complained that it had been reviewed incorrectly.
A claim for an Ear Infection in 2024 resulted in a note on my policy excluding "Ear Infections and RESULTING Conditions"
The second claim was for Skin Allergy a year later in 2025 and there was no evidence that this was resulting or caused by the Ear Infection.
The Final Response Letter I received did not contain evidenced-based justification from a veterinary to connect the two distinct clinical conditions.
In addition the description of the 2024 condition starts as Ear Infection, later is an Ear/Skin Allergy and finally recorded as EAR Condition.
Sections of comments from my vet are highlighted out of context with statements stating, "In further appointments no Ear Infections mentioned (Mr Brian Stone did not book further appointments to reassess ear problems/infections)
"Note: no ear product has been prescribed since 24/07/2024". "Apoquel is a treatment given for Skin allergies." - All these comments appear to have been ignored by Animal Friends in order to make it appear that the two conditions are the same.
Statement are made in the FRL from Animal Friends using words such as, "It suggests" and "As we believe" is supposition or conjecture, not an evidence based justification.

I called customer service and the team member was very helpful with advice and guidance. The vet and the insurance company communicated and the process was very easy for me.

All good apart from trying to reach an agent on the phone. Too cumbersome
