My AC unit makes my room hotter as the back bit is dodgy. Paid over £400! Arlec customer service was utter crap. AVOID AVOID AVOID

I have contacted Arlec several times over the last few weeks over a light that I purchased less than a year ago which has stopped working. Initially they did respond but are no longer responding although my query has not been resolved. Will never buy an Arlec product again

Purchased a arlec btu12000 portable air conditioner in September 2023 from homebase in rugby at a cost of £400. Hardly been used then in june 2025 the fan motor burned out. Lasted 20 months. Homebase has long gone so could not complain and arlec were as much use as a chocolate teapot.i would never buy anything from this company again, its just cheap rubbish at a premium price.

I ordered a solar powered light which has been perfect for my garden, even during overcast days it has performed brilliantly!

Ordered some switches and sockets for my bedroom, arrived quickly and are brilliant quality. Will be ordering more for another room!

Recently bought new light fixtures throughout the house and they’re amazing! Shipped very quickly and were super easy to fit.
I also purchased an air conditioner a few years ago that works perfectly and is a godsend in the hotter months.

Just got some Arlec outdoor solar lights that are fantastic value. Work brilliantly and take a few minutes to put up.
Over the years I've had lots of Arlec products. Strip lights, sockets, switches, air con units, even Halloween and Christmas decorations, all still working.
Sometimes, you'll get a faulty product. That's life. If it's in warranty, they replace it. They did for me. They will for you.

Expensive, Failed after 1 year, Arlec support said motor would be dead and uneconomic repair. Didn't believe them, bought rotary switch on Aliexpress (£4, 8 days delivered), Works fine (less remote control).
Every other fan I've bought has worked till plastic parts have sun degraded or trip hazard has broken stand.

I brought the arlec 8000 BTU air con 6 years ago as was going through the menopause and I couldn't of rated it any high, it was amazing, june thus year I brought another one, exactly the same model and make and I am so disappointed, it definitely isn't the same quality and doesn't cool the room down, I have tried contacting them but nobody answer's the phone, not only have I wasted my money but my neighbour has also brought one the same time as I gave it such high reviews and she is also disappointed.

Failed after little use, they carry no spares and won't repair or replace.

BUYER BEWARE!

I bought an Arlec Weatherproof LED Batten light from Homebase to provide occasional overhead lighting in a dry outhouse. It no longer works, but emits a series of dim flashes - reminiscent of the old fluorescent tube light it replaced. Sadly, I can't find the receipt from Homebase, but I reckon the light lasted no more than just over a year (inevitably!), having been switched on for a total of no more than 2 hours from new. Not impressed...

I was shocked to see such low reviews for Arlec. We brought 2 tower fans, we have been really pleased with them. They were reasonably priced, lots of settings. Quiet enough to be able to sleep but still strong enough to cool us. I eould certainly buy another if needed. The remote is so useful. I had to ask to buy a replacement remote because I had damaged it, they were helpful and friendly to deal with.

have 2 Arlec camping rechargeable lantern. Both charging plug point fell inside the units due to poor design and poor quality. Tried to get help from Arlec and they couldn't care less. Avoid ARLEC junk

Purchased ARLEC Led light with motion and day light sensor. Useless. It barely lasted 6 months in garage, so probably less than 100 hrs use. Don't waste your money on their products.

24 hour timers don’t work properly,so unable to rely on them!!

Purchased two Arlec pedestal fans from Homebase that no longer work. I thought paying that little extra would be a good thing, sadly and frustrating I was wrong, total waste of money.

This company supplies faulty, unusable, badly designed products to Homebase. I recommend staying away from anything that bears this company's logo - you'll save yourself time, money and frustration.

Bought an Arlec 12000btu air conditioner to replace an existing unit which was retired after 15 years. The Arlec unit struggled to cool the room from day 1 and the remote control couldn't be used more than 12" away. More recently, the fan speed has significantly reduced and there is a burning smell. This is less than 3 years after purchase with light summer use only. Will be visiting the recycling centre later today.

Terrible product electric fire, still in warranty but Homebase don’t want to know and Arlec customer service are not replying either.
Awful company!!

Purchased a portable air conditioning unit. Used 6 times and it broke. No longer works. All arlec say is it’s out of warranty period, buy another one. 6 times it was used in 12 months. No customer service. No help. Awful company. Avoid at all costs
