I was referred to Berkeley Psychiatrists through the NHS Right to Choose pathway, and they absolutely delivered on their promised waiting times.

My assessment was with Rachel Smart, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. She was professional, friendly, and easy to talk to, making what could have been a very daunting assessment feel relaxed and comfortable. Rachel kept the assessment moving at a good pace, gently keeping me focused while also taking the time to build rapport. She even shared some of her own everyday household dilemmas, which really helped put me at ease and made the conversation feel much more natural.

At the end of the assessment, Rachel explained my diagnosis with kindness and compassion. She recognised how emotional it was for me and was incredibly understanding and supportive while I processed everything.

To top it all off, I received my assessment report within just four days, which was far quicker than I expected—especially compared with the much longer wait for my son’s report from another Right to Choose provider.

From start to finish, the service was efficient, professional, and genuinely caring. I’m so grateful to Rachel and the team at Berkeley Psychiatrists and would highly recommend them to anyone considering the NHS Right to Choose pathway.

I couldn’t recommend Dr Hollie Hearfield more highly. From the first appointment the process was clear and unhurried, and she guided me through the ADHD diagnosis putting me at ease and taking the time to go through everything in detail.

The support since has been just as good - we tried a couple of options before settling on lisdexamfetamine, and the difference has been life changing. I have combined type ADHD and now I can focus throughout the day into the evening. It’s helped me massively with impulse control especially around eating behaviours in the evening especially as well as being less anxious.

I’m genuinely grateful for all the support and advice which has made such a big difference for me.

I had my online ADHD assessment with Dr Helen Whitworth at Berkeley Psychiatrists, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. Dr Whitworth was warm, welcoming, professional and immediately put me at ease. She listened carefully, explained everything clearly, and made what I expected to be a daunting process feel completely painless. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking an ADHD assessment.

My whole experience with Berkeley psychiatrist has been amazing from when I first got referred to the appointment I can’t fault them. All the staff are friendly and are patient orientated.

I recently had an ADHD assessment with Dr Spencer. He was incredibly professional and attentive throughout, taking the time to listen carefully and understand my concerns. What stood out most was how clearly he explained the diagnosis — every step was laid out in a way that felt supportive and thorough. I left the appointment feeling informed, reassured, and genuinely cared for. I highly recommend Dr Spencer to anyone seeking an ADHD assessment.

I have had a very positive experience with Claire, Nurse Practitioner, throughout my treatment. She has taken the time to explain how Elvanse works, what to expect during titration, and has provided practical advice, such as avoiding citrus around the time of taking the medication and the importance of eating regular meals or snacks because the medication can reduce appetite.

Claire encouraged me to contact the service straight away if I had any concerns or experienced any side effects, which has made me feel well supported and reassured throughout the process.

She has been thorough and cautious with my care, explaining that there is no rush with titration and that it is important to increase the dose gradually to find the right balance. I really appreciated this personalised approach rather than feeling pressured to increase the dose too quickly.

Claire also took the time to understand my other health conditions and concerns, ensuring they were considered when making decisions about my treatment. During my most recent appointment, she went above and beyond to resolve an issue promptly, allowing my treatment plan to continue without unnecessary delay.

Claire has always been professional, approachable, knowledgeable and compassionate. She listens, explains everything clearly, and involves me in decisions about my care. I have felt genuinely supported throughout my treatment and am very grateful for the excellent care she has provided.

It would be nice if patients could be notified that their referral has been received from their GP when using NHS RTC.

They have been very caring and understanding and helpful people to me throughout my entire process with Berkeley. They seem to go above and beyond with options to give me a better life.

Nicole has been brilliant! She is easy to contact if I’ve need information. When I was experiencing some mild side effects Nicole was very helpful and dealt with the issue straight away and changed my medication promptly
My right to choose has been the best decision I’ve made and I’m finally getting the help I need.

Service and staff

Excellent follow up appointment with Dr Anudha Dutta. I was worried about the follow up as I had left it longer from my last appointment than intended. Dr Anudha Dutta was very friendly, and very helpful, I felt listened to, and not only did I get a positive medication review, but many suggestions for life and work adjustments, which I have begun implementing and have made a significant positive impact to my life.

I decided to explore ADHD and the whole process has been very straightforward with Berkeley Psychiatrists. Dr Lucy Colbourne was great and put me at ease straight away. She was professional and clear and asked questions in a calm manner. I felt comfortable throughout.
