I am enjoying my lessons with Berlitz. The instructors are very friendly and knowledgeable in their teaching craft!

Disappointing experience with Berlitz. I inquired about their language courses and was told someone would call back with details, but it's been 17 August and still no follow-up. Lack of professionalism and communication is a big letdown, especially from a renowned institution. Not meeting expectations

I attended the German flex course which was not that bad but I would say I expected something else.
I would recommend to the company to give every student one tutor for the whole course.
Everybody has different teaching styles which is normal but I disliked it. It felt like I did not know if my german got better because I had a different teacher basically for every lesson. I mean I did see some of them multiple times, but not three lessons in a row.

My teaching experience is good I honestly feel confident and comfortable with my teaching skills

I really like 2 features very much. The first one is the ”Question Mark”, if I want to look for the meaning of some expressions and some words, it can give me the explanation very quickly and with some examples, I think it’s much better than looking for the meaning in a dictionary or by searching on the web. Another feature I like is the self practice mode and I can’t even customize it with the pronunciation and with the speech speed. This feature really helps me to improve my confidence in speaking.

It's not a serious school, there's no good service, there's no clarity, it's just people trying to make a profit

As a student, I had a negative experience due to the way I was treated by one of the teachers on my third day of class, which was far too early, without any basis for such behaviour. I found this inappropriate and unprofessional.

I formally reported the situation to the school, but there was no apology or accountability, and my experience as a student was not acknowledged. Instead, the response focused on justifying the teacher’s actions.

Having been a student at this school since last year, I expected a more responsible and supportive approach, especially in matters of professional conduct. Remaining neutral or dismissive in such situations is not acceptable.

For these reasons, I will not be renewing my course and would not recommend this school to prospective students who expect respect, professionalism, and a safe learning environment.

I was assigned a Student Success Coach, Rosalind, who was incredibly helpful and professional. It was truly a pleasure working with her. She was attentive to my needs, responded quickly, and communicated clearly. My teacher was great as well!

They only hire none native teachers which makes it very difficult to understand the pronunciation. A lot of mistakes grammar wise and the implementation of the wrong vocabulary. It's astonishing that this company still exist.

I am currently studying with Berlitz and have been for over two year. I wish I wasn't, but they somehow have a training provision contract with the multinational company I work for.

Every lesson is a torture and I leave heavily depressed. This hasn't improved in over two years.

My best description of the Berlitz method is as follows.

1. Someone you've never met speaks at you in a language you don't understand

2. In a language you dont understand, they ask you a question you can't possibly know the answer to.

3. You guess

4. You are wrong.

5. ????

6. Apparently you have now learned the language

The language I'm studying has very unintuitive grammar. The Berlotz method is just to read a textbook in that language and talk at you in that language and expect that you'll somehow learn.

It doesn't work.

Send your staff to a better school.

My grandson enjoyed his lessons and is now reaping the benefit as he begins a second year of high school French. He feels very much on top of his lessons and is motivated to continue to be so. He told me he plans to study French all four years instead of the requirement of only two. I think he is interested in doing so because of the progress he made one on one with his Berlitz French teacher. The teacher was also flexible in adapting her time schedule if conflicts arose with the set lesson time. All in all it was a very positive experience.

Loved my in-person experience with Berlitz in Miami in 2017-2019 (for French and Spanish). Had the total opposite experience with Berlitz virtual classes in Washington DC in 2025 (for Italian) and would no longer recommend the company. I dealt with multiple different employees to set up my lessons, which seemed extremely inefficient, rather than a single POC. Unbeknownst to me, but known to Bertitz, my first instructor had maternity leave planned just four lessons into my 8-lesson program. My second instructor rescheduled or canceled each of the following 4 lessons with no notice, finally quitting Berlitz altogether with no notice. My third instructor, for the 2 final lessons, was fantastic but was only teaching as a “favor” to the company and planned to emigrate as soon as my program ended. This was incredibly frustrating given I was trying to prepare for an exam and was self-funded. Elona Mene, my final POC with Berlitz displayed absolutely zero empathy and took no ownership of the situation, concluding her email to me with “I guess life happens.”

I found immersion very difficult for me. I have difficulty processing words. I’ve had more success with Pimsleur since they use English earlier on and add more and more Russian as time passes. I had one very bad experience with one of the instructions who was rather insensitive to my struggles. I also found the materials to be very outdated.

Studying with Berlitz has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. The classes are dynamic, the instructors are super professional, and the method really works. I felt more confident speaking within just a few weeks, and the best part is that they adapt to your pace and needs. I highly recommend it if you truly want to learn!

As a former teacher of Berlitz online courses I can say that the treatment of teachers is akin to slavery. The wages pathetic and the courses are repetitive and uninspiring. The teachers who stay are the ones that can't find anything better.

Do NOT enroll, NEVER sign a contract! It's a 5th-rate school, the teachers are terrible, and worst of all, they don't even offer your level, but they still charge you for the month! Please avoid falling for this scam.
