I purchased a 2023 BMW iX1 from Big Motoring World and collected it on 19 September 2026.
On 8 October, I experienced serious warning messages relating to the vehicle’s braking systems. These included:
* “Brake system and driving stabilisation”
* “Braking may require additional force”
* “Parking brake failure – Secure the vehicle from rolling”
These warnings appeared at around the same time and raised serious concerns about the safety and reliability of the vehicle.
Having experienced these faults so soon after purchase, I have lost confidence in the car. This is not what I expected when purchasing a vehicle from an established dealer.
I have formally notified Big Motoring World in writing that I am exercising my short-term right to reject the vehicle under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, within the 30-day period, and have requested a full refund and arrangements for the vehicle to be returned.
As of today, my email has not been acknowledged.
I find this lack of acknowledgement particularly concerning given the nature of the warnings, which relate to braking and the parking brake, and the fact that I have formally notified the company of my decision to reject the vehicle.
I purchased a car expecting it to be safe and reliable. Instead, I am now having to deal with serious warning messages and uncertainty over what happens next.
I believe customers should be able to expect prompt, professional communication when raising a safety-related issue and formally exercising their consumer rights.
I am sharing my experience so that other prospective buyers can make an informed decision. I would welcome a prompt response from Big Motoring World confirming receipt of my rejection notice and explaining how it intends to resolve this matter.

If you are buying a car from them make sure you take a mechanic because they are very dishonest. If you choose to buy a warranty from them please think again.. they sell top notch dishonesty. Most reputable garages would not touch them with a six inch pole. It’s know industry wide they cannot be trusted.
Research them welll.

This is the third car I have brought from Big Motoring World, Bluebell Hill branch and would definitely recommend.
The website is clear and allows home research so you can check all those features and compare cars.
We booked an advance appointment and had shortlisted to 6 cars. The choice available really did make the difference and able to do all this on one site. The prices were fair and part exchange reasonable.
Our Sales person Nasim and Kayleigh our handover person were very good and so helpful.
Would definitely recommend.

The car itself so far is ok, process went smooth'ish. Few points to pay attention to:
- for some reason, on their website they will MOSTLY list on all cars TWO keys but at the time you get to see the car, staff will tell you they have only ONE key, this has been confirmed by two other customers who purchased cars from them. So pay attention to this detail if important to you.
- if you get finances and they will ask for various copies of docs with sensitive info on eg bank statement NiNo number etc - for the love of GDPR data protection, DO request to have them back and keep/destroy them yourself, as my docs, the chap from finance department has literally put them in the bin! When I ask what he did with them and my reaction to the above he couldn't see anything wrong with it!
- Throughout the whole process there were gaps and miscommunication from their end but to conclude on a positive note they did do the work they promise to the car!
More to add: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - do NOT buy warranty they offer, is with Assurant and just as curiosity have a look at their rating on Trustpilot, is 1.5 out of 5(most of the claims get rejected so basically you pay for nothing and you will repair your car from your own money!). If you really want warranty you can buy this elsewhere, from a more reliable company!

No problem with the member of staff who attended my purchase had the car transferred from another branch only needed to test drive and pay for the car no finance needed wanted to part ex put all the details and was quoted £1349 for a poor condition car but when car was assessed they put it down to £500 I declined would rather give it away to a family member arrived at 12pm but the Constant going and going with products they wanted you to purchase ( not staff members fault) was painfully slow nothing should take meaty 3 hours lost the will to live just wanted to take the car and go no floor mats in car either 😣

Not very trustworthy at all.
First I had to sit through 2.5 hours of sales talk about paint coating and warranty which I had said I don’t want. The car was sold to me with a £500 deposit. Big M W said it had full service history. It turns out the car had never been serviced and was therefore in breach of its warranty. Big M W agreed to cancel my transaction and refund me in 3-5 days. This never happened and they won’t return emails. It’s now in dispute with the bank. In addition to this they re advertised the car 5 minutes of me cancelling still showing it has a FSH when they know that the car doesn’t and has also broken the terms of the warranty issued by the manufacturer. I find this shocking and this obviously breaks advertising codes.
So just be aware if you buy a car all is not what it seems and they can lie to your face so check everything yourself before parting with any money.
Further to your reply. There was no service history and the work was not carried out by an independent garage. I have contacted your email and you do not respond. Your reply suggests that this has been resolved and it has not. I do not understand why you have no record of it as I have contracts etc showing the transaction. Maybe you should contact Bluebell Hill to ask them

0 stars if I could. Absolutely terrible experience.
I would strongly advise anyone against buying a car from Big Motoring World.
I purchased my car from them and within just days of ownership, the SOS system developed a fault. I immediately reported the issue and have followed their procedures, contacted them repeatedly and cooperated with the steps they have asked me to take.
Despite this, the issue remains unresolved.
I have now been told that the car needs to go to an Audi main dealer for a £150 diagnostic. Big Motoring World are currently refusing to pay this upfront and are expecting me to pay the diagnostic cost myself before they will even review the situation.
What makes this even more frustrating is that I have been trying to reject the vehicle, as the fault was reported only days after purchase. I have been told that because more than 30 days have now passed, I can no longer reject the car — despite the fact that I raised the fault promptly and have been trying to resolve it throughout this entire process. The delay has not been because I ignored the issue; I have repeatedly tried to get Big Motoring World to deal with it.
Communication has also been appalling. Emails are being ignored, calls are not returned and I have had to repeatedly chase for updates. It should not be this difficult to get a response about a significant fault with a car purchased from a major motor dealer.
I bought the car expecting a reliable vehicle and instead have been left dealing with an unresolved fault, repeated delays, poor communication and now being expected to pay upfront for a diagnostic on a problem that was reported almost immediately after purchase.
This has been an incredibly frustrating experience and, based on my experience, I would NOT recommend Big Motoring World to anyone.
If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would.
Think very carefully before buying a car from this company.

They took 1 hour to answer the phone
My brake servo broke £750
Refused to pay saying wear & tear
I had to pay due to my local garage refusing to wait over 45 minutes trying to contact them for permission to carry the work
Total rip off merchants! AVOID

I was told that the vehicle would be ready for collection at my 8pm appointment. However, when I arrived, I had to wait 30 minutes before being seen. Ultimately, the vehicle was not released, and I had to take a taxi home. Although they offered to cover part of the taxi fare, I still lost both time and money.
That evening, I was assured that the vehicle would be ready for collection the following day and that all cosmetic issues would be resolved. However, when I arrived the next day, no work had been carried out. The salesperson continued to insist that it had been, despite the clear evidence to the contrary, and I once again had to wait 45 minutes before someone assisted me.
Fortunately, the after-sales team was excellent and resolved all the outstanding issues.
I called to ask whether the vehicle’s specifications could be verified, as the information provided was unclear. The person I spoke with was very helpful and explained that, since she couldn't confirm my query, someone at the branch would need to inspect the vehicle in person. A few minutes later, I received a call informing me that the feature I had asked them to check was not fitted. However, the photographs appeared to suggest that it might be. I therefore requested the VIN to verify the vehicle’s specifications, but they were unable to provide it. Fortunately, Tesla’s outstanding customer service team was able to confirm the information for me. It would have been easy to check. I believe they didn't even bother looking it was obvious once I got there.

Booked an appointment through the booking line to view four vehicles for my daughter’s first car. The booking advisors/service providers were very good, very thorough and friendly. Appointment booked, registrations of the vehicles I wanted to see were checked and confirmed to be available. Email and text confirmation of appointment received.
That was where my experience with this company peaked.
Having driven a hour to get there, we checked in with a Receptionist, who was friendly and efficient and showed us to a table.
45 minutes later my daughter and I were still waiting to be seen. Another receptionist approached to say she knew we had been waiting a long time and she had informed the manager. I thanked her, and asked if we could take a walk around the dimly lit, outdoor car showroom and she said yes, checked the mobile number she held for me was correct, and that she would call me when a salesperson became available. We wandered round for five minutes or so, but in the low lighting it was pointless. We decided to leave and upon informing the receptionist we were leaving she said she had someone available now.
Having waiting for 54 minutes we were irritated and it clearly took leaving for someone to be able to see us. We politely declined and left. Having now read the reviews of the “after sales service” I can only feel we dodged a bullet.
Also worth mentioning that as per other reviews, even at the initial booking call stage, there was a distinct focus on taking out finance rather than paying cash. I wonder if this was translated through and contributed to the length of time we had to wait.

I had Ihe car transferred from another branch to view it for convenience, the part ex offered on the website was low in comparison to elsewhere, so didn't part ex. There were several things missing from the car its floor mats, first aid kit, warning triangle and charging cable bag. It could have been valetted to a better condition for sale but I wasn't going to pay extra for a service that should be included on a 30k car. I had a typical car supermarket experience and left with the car as it was what I needed this week.Overall had a memorable experience.

Reserved a car So we could view today, Arranged an appointment when we got there they had no record of me reserving the car when we finally got to a sales representative he was very arrogant And he said the car will be ready to take today, We viewed the car there was multiple scratches and scuffs around the bodywork it was not clean and trims hanging off of the car, He decided to lick his finger and wipe the marks to see if they would come off when we declined the vehicle he was very rude and just walked back indoors. Do you research before you buy a car from these people

I purchased a car on 22nd August, after driving away the steering wheel was clicking but the place was shut as this was after 6:30pm.
I contacted the company and took the car to my own garage to look over. After speaking with big motoring world, I was told I could reject the car but they still needed a garage to look at it, they booked the car in on 9th September and the car needed to go back for further testing on 11th September. We have been told the steering rack and column need replacing.
Big Motoring World are refusing to take the car back and acknowledge my right to return the car.
I have received an email today that they have booked the car into another garage on 26 October!
I am currently without a car needing to take my child to and from school, and get to and from work.
I have been ignored, calls unreturned and made to jump through loop holes with a car on my drive unusable!
Avoid this company at all costs.

Very disappointing customer service.
I initially went to view and test drive a car I had seen advertised online. Everything seemed positive and I was happy enough to move forward to discussing the figures.
When I looked at the APR and the overall cost of the finance, I decided that I would rather pay cash. The salesperson was perfectly agreeable to this at the time.
I came home to think about the purchase before handing over my money and then called the dealership to reserve the vehicle. It was during that call that the attitude changed completely.
The salesperson asked why I had decided to pay cash and then told me that I didn’t need to speak to him again because he would “only make £10” from the car and it wasn’t worth “losing sleep over”.
I was genuinely shocked by this response. The day before, he could not have been any nicer. The moment I confirmed that I would be paying cash rather than taking finance, the level of customer service changed dramatically.
I fully appreciate that dealerships make money from finance and that a cash purchase may be less profitable for a salesperson. However, that should never translate into making a customer feel like they are an inconvenience or that their business is no longer worthwhile.
The way I was spoken to has completely changed my view of the dealership.
Customer service should not depend on how much commission a salesperson expects to make from you. Very disappointing.

Overall happy with our car but we were extremely disappointed with the after sales support. When we test drove the car there were floor mats loose in the boot which the salesperson commented on saying they were valuable and would be very useful. After taking delivery we realised they’d been removed. When we followed up with BMW the next day we were told we were mistaken, there were no floor mats. We weren’t mistaken and it left a poor impression.

Staff were friendly and very helpful. We felt the brakes on the car we tested were not quite right and they had new brake discs fitted while we waited. Whole process was easy and we never felt under pressure to buy additional products. Cars are well priced and typically under market rate. Car we bought had been cleaned well and tyres/ alloys and paintwork were immaculate. I would use again.

Paid for a car we liked online to be delivered to this showroom and thought it would be a quick check over and drive away! We had the full on sales pitch. First room - you’ve picked the best car on the site! Let’s be mates etc tea coffee juice comfy seats take your time etc then you eventually see the car, next you’re in a similar room but it’s full on sales for all the things that will go wrong with the car that they just sold u as perfect!! Then once you’re done with being sold stuff u don’t need- you’re sales person disappears & u r sent an email to pay - then after lots of waiting hurriedly taken to a hut outside - tax car then take the keys ! Then that’s in your in your new car no help to set up your car - luckily I’m able to navigate technology eg sat nav apple play etc but would someone older be able too? Basically it’s a psychological experience that spits you out at the end!
