I spent several hours and numerous calls this morning trying to register my online banking account. After I finally established it, I conducted my business and logged out. In the afternoon, I tried to... See more

Few days ago I did deposit an item to my account. Today when I did connect to my account trough application system shows everything clear and no hold but when I tried to do transaction, system refused due to not cleared item.
I called and explained situation to bank employee on the phone, unfortunately she was repeating same thing and seems she was not carrying about anything else, then I asked for a supervisor that I transfered on hold for ever.....almost half-hour later without anybody answer I had to hang up.
This is end up poor people who are dealing with called Bank of Montreal (BMO).
BMO Freezes Legitimate Funds and Treats Customers Like Criminals
I opened a new BMO account and deposited a legitimate insurance payment after a traumatic home robbery. After withdrawing $1,000, my card was locked. I called, verified my identity, and was told it would be resolved. The next day, I visited the El Cerrito branch to withdraw $8,500 and was met with cold suspicion, not customer service.
Despite verifying my identity again, and showing documentation, the branch escalated my account into a fraud investigation. BMO then froze over $14,000 of my money and told me I might not get access for 30–90 days. There was no fraud, no error on my part, and no explanation given beyond vague policy language.
This kind of behavior is unacceptable—and not isolated. Look around: BMO has a pattern of freezing accounts and holding legitimate deposits under the guise of fraud investigations. I filed an internal discrimination complaint (Case #: F-03038506) because this situation reflects clear profiling and bias.
I’m a UC Berkeley student, father, and reentry advocate. I’ve worked hard to rebuild my life, and this experience has been retraumatizing and financially destabilizing. I’ve escalated this to regulatory agencies and consumer advocates, and I’m warning others: do not trust BMO with your money.
Don't have your AI call me pretending…
Don't have your AI call me pretending to be a human selling me loans. It makes me want to take my substantial mortgage somewhere else.
Worst bank
Worst bank , bad service and now im without bank account already 2 week cause they cant send the right card its ridiculos
BMO forced me to open a checking…
BMO forced me to open a checking account through them in order to receive my cash back rewards for the credit account I had, which I'd never had to before because they deposited it into the account they draw my payments from. reluctantly I agreed as long as it was a free checking account with no fees, months later I learn they snuck in paper statements even though I said only e-statements and they drew back my cash back rewards with fees. then lied about it and kept the money when confronted.
The worst bank in Canada
The worst bank in Canada. Can’t manage their online platforms. Finally had enough….moving my investments to Questrade.

Can't log in to my account 95% of the time. Failure notice. Maybe once a week I can get in.
There is no way to send them an email or get through on the phone. All of their help assistance is garbage, doesn't work. On top of that a local branch manager told me in the past that the bank might steal my savings.
Had 30k plus in credit never had a late…
Had 30k plus in credit never had a late payment or missed payment in my life, 95 percent of the time I pay in full, I have a construction company. Used 30 k for material one month and paid back 30k in the same month in full they dropped my credit from 30k to 500$ lmao what a joke. They also double charge me whenever I spend lots because there system is extra slow. Let’s say I have 500 in chequing I use 200$ the money leaves my account as I have no overdraft, they put the money on hold and when it comes off hold they take another 200$ I just had to fight with them for 3 hours and finally the supervisors supervisor said that there is something wrong with the system and reimbursed me. I just had 7500$ put into my account yesterday then transferred it to the new bank I used as soon as I did that they locked one of my credit cards it’s says it’s not activated when the day before I used some and payed it. I have money so none of this really affects me but what about the buisness people who need there credit card. There at risk of paying everything and loosing it when they might need it. Imagine going to buy supplies the next day and your card is getting declined but you don’t no why then you check your bank and it shows from 30k to 500$ that would affect the normal person. No email explaining why nothing who even pays 30k in full to a credit card no one does. Everything I’m saying I have proof for I can show my credit history, payment history and more. I had a 7k pc credit card that was raised aswell during all this bmo shows to be untrust worthy It’s the only bank where anything you buy it shows money on hold that means there system is to slow to even read that you bought a drink or anything until the next few days. Transactions don’t show half the time until a few days later so when you do look at your account it’s a big mess.
Do not do business with bmo …
Had an account for 5years approximately before closing it i always had problems with them hidden fees too they. I’v been fraud they never helped me they only take take take im with cibc now and no problem so far bmo is the worst bank
Worst bank!
I’m extremely disappointed with how BMO handled my unauthorized transaction claim. In March, I reported a fraudulent charge on my account and immediately called the bank to cancel my debit card. I followed all the proper steps to report it, including providing written confirmation from the merchant stating the transaction was not authorized.
On June 2nd, I emailed the supporting evidence to rege.processing email address and have still not received any response. Despite this, BMO sent me a letter claiming the purchase was authorized — completely ignoring the proof I submitted and my prompt report of the issue.
It’s unacceptable for a major bank to disregard fraud claims and customer communication this way. I’ve been a loyal customer, but this experience has destroyed my trust in BMO’s fraud protection and customer service processes.
I hope others seriously consider this before banking with BMO.
The branch Manger at the Oswego
The branch Manger at the Oswego, IL location has been rude ,condescending and has hung -up on me on the phone . They never return emails or phone calls . BMO Harris has the worst customer service i have ever seen. I have had an ongoing problem for 6 months and still has never been 100 % resolved. They will put extra fees on your accounts .
I sold my car last week
I sold my car last week. 23000 $ and they are locking my money.
Everyone I talk to are peons that can't do anything. If you ask for someone higher. They all say there is nobody. Worst bank ever, when my money is released I am cashing out and putting elsewhere.
BMO at jean talon branch has the most…
BMO at jean talon branch has the most caring, professional manager. His name is Tony. I withdrew a fairly large sum and without knowing Tony walked out with me to my car to make sure i get to my car safely. Thank you Tony you are the Best!
I've had a bank account with BMO since…
I've had a bank account with BMO since I was a kid. The one time I asked for assistance with a business mortgage (a small one no less), they provided the most ill-considered, un-engaged and un-timely response for our business. They now lose all business with me, all personal, all corporate and all mortgages. Do not believe that a bank is on your side, or looking out for you. You are a number, that's it.
Don’t be trapped with the bureaucratic BMO Investor Line
A few years ago we opened accounts at BMO Investor Line. They took our ID. Everything ok. Than now they discover that they inputted the birthday name of my wife WITH her married name. Blocked her account and asked to changed it with ONLY her married name A bureaucratic nightmare We thought that we had get through NO Now I have to redo the process for me as we have also conjoined accounts. Originally we gave all the information… Nothing has changed but BMO Investor Line… and it’s service (do this then do this then you have to…)
Worst bank I have dealt with for…
Worst bank I have dealt with for business! Personal seems okay but the business side Is a joke. earlier this year we were carrying a shop Reno cost on it we had a 15k balance we paid down almost 40% 3 days later my card is dropped to $10,500. Then may I paid it down to $7500 24 days later they drop it again. NO warning no nothing Just dropped. I have NO late Payments on my account. I have no missed Payments on my account. Nothing it was over for 3 days once and paid more then what was owed. I have business and personally with them. if they don't fix the issue ill be moving everything to another bank, personal savings checking, investment accounts, credit cards and lines of credit and business all are going to move. I have had enough of this crap! I'm waiting 2 days to hear from a manger (not hopeful) and then im gone! I would avoid them like the vid! They are a joke! for real avoid them only been problems!
