Staff is very irresponsible and charge unacceptable interest

Staff is very irresponsible. They promise customers but they don't act on it. Took a housing loan and requested moratorium in April 2020. But in June cancel it and paid all outstanding installment. Manager promised to clear it. But in the end I had to pay a huge interest which is not at the market rate. They were unable to give a proper explanation for it

I have money in my account but cant get it when im needed it the most. I

During the covid season banking

I must tell yesterday I called the hotline, to clarify which branches are open. The customer service agent guy in English was awesome. He told me all the nearby locations to my home, and even stated the addresses of those banks. in friendly tone. Later I went to the wellawatte boc .this place is wow compared to that worthless people's bank.has three counters open.we didn't have to wait much time waiting in the queue. The middle aged staff in counters even very efficient. The security guard was even a very respectable man.spoke in friendly words and told to wait in very kind words.compared to the dumb security guard at people's bank a very rude man doesn't now friendliness.the security guard at people's bank thinks he is president or something

In a Nutshell!

The staff in the city area branches is reasonably knowledgeable about the new technologies. Customer service is friendly.
Here are two incidents. Many more.
I maintain my accounts with the Personal Branch. Once I wanted to increase the daily transfer limit from Rs.100k. Wrote about 30 letters over two years. Immediately I used to get a number and a pompously worded automated letter of acknowledgment. That is all. Still no solution.
Once they asked me to come to the nearest branch and see the manager. I live overseas and the address with them is the overseas address. Should I see a manager for a matter like this?
Because of this, I transferred a chunk of my balance to a private bank.
In another instance, about five years ago I stepped into the Personal Branch to get a credit card. The manageress sent me to another officer. There was a balance of around Rs.1.5m on the account. I did not/do not want to withdraw. I explained that the bank can have a balance as the security. A regular deposit from my pension (Rs 75K approx. pm) was coming.
The officer 'interviewed' me. He wouldn't have been born when I opened my account with the Bank. When I said I had a Gold Credit Card and it was discontinued with a credit balance this officer පරල වුණා. He then addressed me ඔයා. We address ඔයා to a person on the same level. He could address like that to his girlfriend, not to a pensioner like me. I came to know that the AGM of the Card Dept. was a person who once worked under me. Another officer asked me to go and see him. Why? Why should I go and see big shots? To get a CD?
There are more interesting stories. But, assessing from only these two I can say service in nutshell was hopeless. How can the BOC compete with other banks with this type of service unless they have the govt accounts and govt business? Thanks for the war of 30 years! Now to Covid.

Poor customer service

They wont allow customers to fill their forms especially when you open a new account. They do all by themselves. So, I dont know they spell my name incorrectly in the passbook until I received. Finally I found some errors and I let them knew with the proof of my passport. Instead of change the name into correct form they convinced me that my name in the passport is wrong, what they written in the bank passbook is correct. In order to the change, they need me to submit affidavit docs and letter also my birth certificate. I found this is ridiculous. Coz what they did was wrong which is definitely not my fault. Maybe this is the one and only bank that need birth certificate to open an account in Sri Lanka. Highly disappointed with the way they interact with customers. No friendly service at all.

UNNECESSARY FEES FROM THEY'RE OWN BOC BANK CUSTOMERS.

Iam banker with BOC more then 6 years. Iam extremely disappointed on BOC of they're a policy. Why they are charging unnecessary fees from they're own bankers. Everytime withdraw money within BOC atm they charging Rs 5, every online transfer charge Rs50, scheduled transfer Rs 20, and SMS notification Rs10 . Iam really confused why they charging this amount from they are own bankers?aren't You suppose to provide this all services free of charge for BOC customers. I UNDERSTAND IF YOU'RE OUT OF BOC NETWORK CUSTOMER U CAN CHARGE THIS AMOUNTS THAT'S DIFFERENT. But you charging this amounts from your own customers ? what's the point of been a BOC customer? This is unacceptable ridiculous.Looking forward to moving to different bank.
