Very disappointed

Very disappointed. Having finally secured an appointment at Cheadle branch it was cancelled at the last minute. Getting an appointment at any of my local stores was near impossible so felt doubly let down.

A professional, thorough and friendly service.

The audiologist Mr Lee Barrington was very professional and thorough. He gathered all the relevant information, explaining all the procedures, detailing how the ear works and how with age our hearing diminishes. This was done in a friendly and pleasant way. I was able to try a set of hearing aids to experience their benefits. I felt that all he wanted was the best outcome for myself without there being any pressure to purchase. Would totally recommend this service.

Comprehensive instruction and care.

Great care taken to tell me why I needed hearing aids and the benefits I would gain. Equally I was told the difficulties I would encounter if I did not, which made me realise just how much I had been ignoring the signs and effects of the degradation of my hearing. I was taken outside to experience the incredible difference when wearing a trial set, to hear traffic and chatter in a shop and be able to hear the advisor’s conversation at the same time. Brilliant!

Our appointments were cancelled twice…

Our appointments were cancelled twice at last minute which disrupted our day. The whole appointment system seems to be wrong as appointments should not be cancelled at last minute. It has happened twice with us.

Myselfmy wife attended this boots…

Myself and my wife attended this boots location for first time. I had booked hearing test 0945., we were told to go upstairs, and somebody would be with us…, we found the upstairs was a small narrow corridor, and we could see one door at the end of the corridor.. it was very cold in the corridor, and we both remarked it could do with some heating., just then this door flew open and a man, very agitated, appeared, and told us to keep our voices down as there was a hearing test being done..,
There was no signs anywhere in this corridor, that we had to be quiet. We were both a bit shocked by this man’s abrupt style… we were then called into the room, after waiting 10 minutes, and began by answering some basic questions.. as I tried to answer the questions it was apparent that this man was not letting me finish, and I had to struggle to finish what I was saying., I said I did not know if my hearing problem was due to my ears being blocked up., he had a quick look, and said I had impacted wax.., I asked if this was apparent in both ears, and he became quite brusque in saying ‘yes, I have already it is in both ears !’
‘You will need to have the wax removed, there is a place on the high street which removes ear wax, and if you mention my name he will give you £10 off the charge’..
My wife did mention that there should be a sign, in the corridor to advise people to only speak in whispers so there was no disturbance with the tests.
Or possibly get a sound proofed room,

Left boots with a terrible feeling of ‘ couldn’t get rid of us sooner !

We did notice staff coming up and down the stairs , and they were making no attempt to be quiet.

Will def NOT be returning there.. not a pleasant experience at all,

Why did I wait so long ?

I’d been struggling with my hearing for over a decade my NHS aid just amplified sound and squealed a lot. Lee was fantastic he tested my hearing and explained how the latest technology works, I’ve invested in myself and I ❤️ my new ears that actually work. I no longer have to avoid certain situations and they double up as earphones too.
