Stay away they are terrible. Got my car damaged by a drunk driver as it was parked. Had to pay the excess, no help, no follow up, it's constant back and forth. The staff is lost and most of the time embarrassed the way they have to handle issues. Honestly, look elswhere.

It was so easy and quick to compare and change my policy to budgetdirect . Why did it take me so long .

Very gowns quick to respond

If you have a write off, they will do everything they can do to undervalue your car, including the fact they do not use "like for like" comparison. In the process of rectifying that but I'm absolutely appalled by this.

Excellent service and value for money

Increased my premiums by over 60% over 2 years despite no claims and the vehicle depreciating in value. Shopped around and found everyone else supplying comprehensive insurance for $1400-1200 cheaper! I also had someone hit my Towbar in traffic and rang them to ask what to do and was treated like a criminal and essentially advised not to make a claim with threats of having to pay excesses if found in anyway at fault. They refused to take down the other drivers details unless I proceeded with a claim and advised me to get an independent assessment at my own cost. SHOCKING SERVICE AND PRICE

Easy on line experience and saved dollars.

I've had this policy for over a year now and I put in my first claim as the tenant defaulted. Firstly, the consultant claimed for 2 specific reasons that the claim would be denied. With no experience of how insurance works as this is my first ever insurance claim I was able to prove the claim manager incorrect in less than 30 mins after going through the data on both points. She then admitted she got this clearly wrong afterwards. The team leader then denied the claim ultimately after for a 3rd invented reason which is a deliberate misinterpretation of policy. This experience really throws into question the competence, intelligence and integrity of the employees at budget direct. I will now be going through the extensive complaints/appeal process. I will never use budget direct again in any capacity and I highly recommend everyone else do the same. They are the reason the general public don't trust insurance companies.

The process was well handled, except for the reading of the conditions. I understand these have to be read and agreed to, but the staff member spoke rapidly, without pause, then asked if I agreed. Certainly wasn’t given time to absorb, process and then agree to. It felt very rushed.

incident on 29/04/2026 and the claim was lodged on first week may. minor damage and estimate was 1300$. still to receive money. I received an SMS saying ready to settle and call them, when I call they said not all information is ready and someone will call me when ready, waited a week no one called. extremely frustrating, do not use them if you want good cover

Budget Direct have ripped off my elderly parents insurance by $500 more than other companies..its a disgrace

Had my first car accident in the 15+ years Ive been driving. A guy t-boned me and hit my back drivers passenger door at a round about when I was already driving through. They said it was my fault that i didn't give way to my right. They also didnt tell me who was liable after chasing up for a month, but told me that they knew I complained a week after the accident because they didnt tell me who was liable. They changed the story saying the other party didnt put a claim in, both of us were liable, and then said they didnt have an outcome. Even the panel beaters said the other party was at fault just by looking at the damages. The customer service was digusting and as soon as I pay my over priced excess, I told them I was finding another insurance. If i could give 0 stars, I would. Would not recommend.

Very aggressive tactics by assessor Kenny Nguyen Dandenong Victoria intimidating feel like I was In courtroom, questioning like common criminal . This practice of bulling needs to stop , after paying insurance for 40 year never make a claim damage worth $1300 become big spending on Budget Direct . Shame on you
