Not a good source for leads
Buildzoom is another platform for contractors to advertise their services and for home owners to find contractors.
for home owners to use it’s free and for contractors it cost. The contractor can pay to have additional advertising or features to use Buildzoom. The contractor doesn’t pay up front for leads but pays a fee once lead is won and completed. Which is great compared to most other lead generating platforms. Whats not good about Buildzoom is the way contractors or homeowners can/may communicate with Buildzoom . Email or text message are the only options to reach customer support. If you are lucky you may receive a response . The response will not come sooner than a few days , weeks or not at all. Another issue with Buildzoom is the lead information which is the homeowners contact information given to contractors to reach out . The email address of homeowners are not the actual email address but a forwarding email address. This email addresses provided always get kicked back as undeliverable . Every single time .
The phone numbers provided to contact homeowners also have a forwarding phone number. Half of the time the forwarding phone numbers reach the homeowner. the homeowner address is shared but I also have experience incorrect addresses. The most recent incorrect address I received , the customer actually live in another part of the state.
I found today the same business name as mine being advertise in another part of the state. The contractors license number listed on the ad has expired 36 years ago according to the contractors state license board. So why/ who posted this ad? To confuse potential homeowners from finding the actual business. My business.

Horrible customer service!
Horrible customer service!! Just like talking to robots but what's new.. good luck getting anything done quickly!!👎🏼👎🏼 A lady wrote a false bad review about an old company I owned and it is still affecting my business practices to this day!! They require no evidence to submit review but if I want it removed I have to pay for their services!! Huh?! I've tried to get them to remove it but now have to hire an attorney to get this resolved!! Worthless company if you ask me!
Update.. they posted saying the review was from 2014 which goes to show they ain't care about checking into anything bc it was last November.. smh & also have emails being solicited from this company for their services soooo that was a lie 👍🏻

I regret choosing Buildzoom
I regret choosing Buildzoom for my renovation project. My experience was nothing short of disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend their services to anyone looking for reliable project management.
From the start, there were red flags. I received three bids from Buildzoom professionals back in November 2023, but I never got any bid comparisons or meaningful follow-up. Communication was abysmal—it often took weeks to hear back, and the team only seemed to engage after I complained.
Despite providing bids and contracts upfront, the project management felt non-existent. The only touchpoints I received were emails asking for updates, which added no value, especially after I moved onto the property. What was promised during the sales process was not delivered, and I was misled into believing they could accommodate my project’s phased approach.
To make matters worse, despite paying $5,850 of the contracted $8,000, I saw no tangible benefits from their involvement. When I expressed my concerns, they fell through the cracks, due to the constant rotation of project managers.
Buildzoom admitted that my experience didn’t align with their usual outcomes, but they were still unable to issue a refund. This lack of accountability and failure to deliver on their promises has left me extremely dissatisfied.
If you’re looking for a company that values transparency, effective communication, and follow-through, I suggest you look elsewhere.

Great Company, Staff and Beautiful Work
I contacted Apex Welding as I had a problem with my rod iron gate. One would no longer open at all. The other had a problem closing into the latch and both were pulling away from the walls they were attached too.
Josh & Austin came out very quickly. Looked at the gates. Gave me a couple of options as to how these could be repaired. We agreed on what would be done. Josh & Austin came out the next day and made the repairs we had agreed upon. They did a beautiful job. They were very neat and left the area clean. Showed up on time. Two very nice guys that do great work. I would highly recommend you call them if you are in need of their services.

Very impressed with BuildZoom
This my first exposure to BuildZoom, and I am impressed. As a consumer, my comparative point of reference is Angie's List, and BuildZoom provides FAR more information about the companies that they curate for me. I particularly like that each company has it's own 'portal' serving as it's information and data hub. I do wish that I, as a BuildZoom client, had my own individual portal, with all of my added company portals (sub-portals?) accessed from within mine. This would make it easier to go back and find the portal you are looking for. Also, the portal for each company should list their actual phone number, in addition to their 'BuildZoom phone number,' which took me a little getting used to. Lots of 208 numbers!
One item that could use a couple of slight improvements is the way that BuildZoom collects feedback on their suggested companies via text messaging. 1) I am fine with rating them by text - it's very easy - but each company should generate it's own single text. As it is now, I'll get a single text that might have 3-4 companies, asking for feedback on each. But since they are all on one text, it's hard to know how to respond ... 2) the timing of the feedback texts seem off to me. Currently, as soon as I have my initial phone conversation with a BuildZoom company, I get a feedback text. That seems too early to me. I am soliciting bids from these companies to do jobs at my residence - I shouldn't be receiving a feedback text until a company representative has physically come by to my inspect my job AND given me a written estimate. I don't see how anyone can rate a company without meeting them first.
That being said, I am very happy to have stumbled across BuildZoom. I think they have a great business model that is way superior to other alternatives that I've used in the past to find companies to help me on jobs. I will certainly use BuildZoom going forward!

Not enough contractors use this service…
Not enough contractors use this service unfortunately, so I was forced to use Thumbtack and Houzz, etc. Its easy to use, the messaging and email user experience is not as smooth as it should be.
