Possibly the worst bank you could consider opening an account with, period. Do not bother, they have no customer care department and will resist supporting you at ever turn.
TERRIBLE BANK! DO NOT CHOOSE THIS BANK>
I AM ABOUT TO LOSE MY DEPOSIT ON A PROPERTY BECAUSE NOBODY IS ABLE TO HELP ME WITH TRANSFERRING THE MONEY. THEY DO NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS, THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST I HAVE EXPERIENCED.
Shockingly bad service!
Started charging me EUR15 per month service charge without notifying me. When I queried it, it was apparently for;
1) Visa credit card (that I've never been advised of, not received, nor do I need one.
2) Check books...again, never received one, nor do I want one,
3) So that, according to the pdf depicting the service, don't have to leave home for them to process my NIE for the regular payments... this was given to me AFTER my relationship manager insisted they couldn't process without me being in the branch, so my wife & I had to fly out to Spain to get this done.
4) To enable me to take my money out of ATMs... Sorry, but I think being able to take your own money out of an ATM is a pretty basic service. I've had free accounts in the USA & UK which have actually been fantastic. Caixa rip you off, supplemented with very bad service. Our online representitive rarely responds, and the staff on the phone have been rude and hung up!... Just avoid this bank! My UK bank offers a free multi currency account (USD/GBP/EUR), so now looking to move banks. Recommend looking at alternatives to Caixa.
Dont use the atm at caixa bank. They took my kreditcard in barcelona while travelling and they did destroy it because it is not from their bank. My trip was destroyd because of this bad service caixa bank! Do not use their atm !!
I should have read the reviews. The apps are almost impossible to use, so many numbers, nothing is simple, i only imagine the frustration older customers must face at the impossibility of getting online. I give up, this account will go in the bin. I cannot waste any more days trying to get it to work. I am filled with hate now.
"My" branch in El Campello will not answer my emails or phone calls and my bills are going unpaid because of them. The service is terrible. Avoid this bank like the plague
Simply bad
I spend more time working for them than they for me
I spend more money paying them for my work too
Arrived in Spain 18.10.22 to find that my transaction at the local supermarket had been declined. Embarrassing.
Account locked apparently because I had not signed the fiscal information on their app. I didn't do this because their app doesn't have the facility to accept digital signatures. I had written to my 'Advisor' two months prior to this with a scanned and signed version, to which I had had a reply two days before I was due to travel insisting that I do not send email attachments!
Travelled to my branch. Nowhere to be found! Had been closed for years, but I had not been informed of the location of the new branch. Found it. Eventually.
Did I have an appointment? No. However, I could speak with the bald, bearded gentleman who had been dealing with no one for the last 30 minutes as the young lady at the door sweated bullets dealing with an ever-growing and irate crowd.
Bald chap ignored us for ten minutes and continued typing. Then announced that it was too hot in the place, put on a video for us (I'm not kidding) and returned about twenty minutes later and introduced himself.
He then spent the next twenty minutes looking for my fiscal information, God knows why as I hadn't asked fot it. When I asked why he was doing this, he advised me to find myself another bank. I replied that I'd be delighted to but I'd need access to my account to buy some petrol for the trip home to my apartment.
He roguishly leaned into his back pocket to proffer his wallet at which point I advised him that it might be in his best interests to mind his manners.
Apparently, my account would remain closed until Caixa's software was working. I pointed out that it hadn't been working for two months so did he have an estimate when it might be operational. He advised me to return tomorrow. I asked if there was any certainty that it would be working tomorrow and he couldn't guarantee it. I asked if someone might phone me as I have a 50k travel to my branch (Don't ask) making a 100K round trip. His reponse? We have 5,000 people with locked acounts. I pointed out that he didn't have 5,000 people sitting in front of him broke and that it wouldn't be stretching decency too much to answer a phonecall from me in the morning. Apparently it was stretching decency too much for this chap. He then jauntily popped his nice blue jacket on and flounced off, while advising us to find another bank. Just to warn you, the name of this helpful fellow is Carlos Vera Marin and he works at the Orihuela Costa branch in Villamartin, Torrevieja. I'll be complaining to his superiors, although I doubt it'll do anything. This guy's conduct was outrageous. He was goading, insensitive, rude, arrogant and hectoring. This conduct would not be tolerated for one minute in any bank with which I've ever dealt anywhere else in the world. Except Orihuela apparently as I was the fifth customer during a two hour timeframe that had tried to close their accounts. The logical conclusion is that Caixabank will go out of business if it carried on like this. And it deserves to.
They take money from your account even when you have not used the account for a number of months. We used to be with Bankia who were excellent Caxia are diabolical
The worst bank on the planet. They ignore your emails and calls, do not honor branch appointments when you show up to get help. gas light you and steal your money. Only good things are that they have atms everywhere. To avoid at all costs.
Sorry I write in English so that foreigners also know what to expect from these pirates. Worst bank ever. I couldn’t give a lower score but they deserve a zero. The staff are unhelpful and have inflated self-importance. They possess a countenance as if they were playing god when you go into the branch with one simple requirement. The queues in all the branches I visited were long and disorderly, and unsurprisingly, the majority of the people in front were complaining. I never signed a contract with Caixa, only Bankia, yet suddenly I am subject to the rules and fees which they didn’t notify me about, and they have nothing to answer me with. My debit card was swallowed by one of their ATM’s and the staff in the branch told me to come back for it on Tuesday (it was Friday, so no card or cash for the bank holiday weekend) and then on Tuesday they said they emptied the machine of all the cards and mine wasn’t there so I must have imagined it all. I bought a house and was waiting for an important transfer of money from my account abroad. On the day of the notaria which was a week later, I found out they had returned the money, because I didn’t have sufficient ID on their system, even though I had been to two separate branches months before to update the ID on their system and they confirmed it was done (I was waiting for my residency card to come through). Similarly, they forgot to update my address and so my tax invoice went to the wrong place and the result was I paid that late with a penalty. This week I closed my account. They didn’t give me the option to go to my closest branch, so I had to travel far, and speak to some typical obstructive Caixa staff member, and then, because they stole money from my account I am apparently eligible for 35€ (of 140€) back, which I had to fight for, and I have to travel 3 hours again today to collect it, because in this modern age of technology they can still only hand 35€ to me in the branch. My boyfriend offered to collect it on my behalf because it is slightly more convenient for him to do so, and our guy (who I was assigned without choice, and who doesn’t reply to emails) said that was impossible. And they obscure their fees using a name that sounds like a homewares shop ‘living solutions’. This bank is the exact opposite of a living solution. I would rather die than bank with them again. There are other things that occurred. I find it depressing to even conjure them into my mind.
Very poorly managed interview process with little duty of care to the interviewee.
Reading through the reviews of this bank [and they are truly awful] - - but lets face it all Spanish banks have a problem with customer services. it's like you are doing them a favour banking with them. My own experience is less than one star also. If you have an issue and queue to get the matter resolved [ which can take upto two hours] it often isn't sorted. You usually have one person dealing with the matter and often the queue is very lengthy. Why don't some of the other staff look to help? I was in the Denia branch and the poor sod on the desk just didn't have a clue. meantime, his half a dozen collegues seemed happy to just stick to their terminal and ignore their clients. For the record, it took us one hour to be seen and the matter wasn't resolved. We are unable to access our money and no explanation was given. I don't have a mobile phone so cannot access my account externally so will have to return to Spain to shut down my account. It's money for old rope for all of these banks. Nice people in Spain but avoid all the institutions as they are jobsworths. Will they reply. i doubt it. Good luck to anyone who has to have a Spanish bank account.
They dont get back to you
Our attorney has called and emailed our branch for a few months now - I have tried too, but they dont answer. My attorney even tried standing outside the branch for 3 hours but no one let him in.
How can we get in thouch with you so we can close our account?
Opened an account with them and the fee is €140 per annum. I deposited a transfer of 100 euros and the fee is €15. I checked my app this evening and €50 has been taken out! Not by me. I have not been given a card as yet? What is going on? Absolute fraud, no confidence at all I will be closing my account forthwith.
I cannot believe they are making me go to the police to report a double charge from a taxi driver to my credit card by mistake, crazy! Other banks see it as a mistake and take the extra charge away. Like the police does not have anything better to do!
Worst bank in Europe, not listening and impolite people there working,
Because my advisor never answers me and I will pay 60 euros per three months for services! shameful
Terrible bank. I used to have an account in Bankia for many years the costs were affordable to have an account that I use occasionally as I live abroad. Last year my account got transferred to Lacaixa and suddenly the charges raised and they didn't even communicate. Communication with the bank was also much worse with Lacaixa and they didn't even respond to my emails to close my account. Finally I managed to close it once I was in Spain but they refused to refund me the costs of the account although they didn't communicate these.
Absolutely crap, customer service in puenty mayorga bank atrocious, my mother had died they closed the account not tell us and now cant pay any bills, there answer is oh well . Disqusting bank
