The worst bank ever I had joined

The worst bank ever I had joined. They only charged me a lot of fee without even told me or letting me in advance and even giving me the chance to get pay and out my money on the account . They are thief and ridiculous I closed the account after 1 month desperately. I never had such a bad bank in the all world that I had lived for the last 20 years . Be aware this bank isn’t a bank at all .

Caixa - some tips and warnings.

Banking in Spain is a pain in the neck - anyway. What I learned is:
1) Caixabank will never give you a complete overview of your account online (no daily limits, BIQ, IBAN). I wrote a letter to change that - information is everything. I am still waiting.
2) Never use the possibility "pay in three months" - interest is enormous and before you realize you will find yourself in financial trouble. The amounts may be small, but combined and used several times - you will run into a problem. This option is offered for any purchase above 50 EUR. I seems, they did not read the book "The Moneychangers" as this question is 40 years old.
3) To be confirmed - but it appears to me, that if you use the ATM of your own bank (ATM) each time a fee of 2 EUR will be charged to your account. To avoid this, pay everything by card (but NOT contactless - I had three cases where the amount was debited twice. No chance to get this back). Always insert the card and type your code. Old fashioned, but secure. Cash: take everything once or twice a month. Point.
4) Never ever take credit - they always offer you credit up to 20.000 or so within 5 minutes. Interest is enormous. To be avoided.
5) What is good - sometimes they have special offers (I am not talking about a TV or a Trottinette) but I bought a real 125 scooter and pay 100 EUR month including full complete insurance, This was a very good deal.
6) If you are retired, you will NOT receive the present when opening an account (which I find completely unacceptable). I will not die tomorrow, ok? In my case a TV was promised, but finally I did not get it. I am still alive and my retirement is really good. This is a shame for a bank like this.
7) Worst is - savings: Do not use this bank for savings. I did it once, to try: 1.000 EUR for 3 months and received 1,24 EUR interest out of which 0.24 were taxes. So 1 EUR for 1000 EUR for three months is equivalent to 0,1% for three months, 0,4 % per year. Check via internet. I found another bank for savings, which I will use - 2% guaranteed, you can save as much as you want and you can use it when you want - no time limit. That means, that in the end you will work with two banks - a regular and one for your savings. On top of this, savings at CAIXA must be a minimum of 500 EUR each time. They will not accept less. Bad mistake.
8) Everything is done quickly and in Spanish - be careful before you sign anything.
9) Staff does not speak any other language (normally) than ES. So some ES knowledge is really necessary to deal with them.

I have used three banks over the years in Spain. I stay with Caixa now - but I observe the above rules. So should you.

Worst bank ever

Worst bank ever. Never open an account here. Shame on the central bank of spain for allowing this scam of a bank to continue operating. The bank employees are unprofessional and have a horrible attitude towards their customers. They lie about fees and disregard EU law. Please report them to FIN NET / Banco de Espana and the European commission if they also act shady towards you!

Bloody useless

Bloody useless, should have changed years ago. Wanted to set up the app for payment online, was told by phone I could do it at any branch, then after 35 minutes of faffing I was told I needed to go to my branch due to data protection. Bloody medieval.
They will charge you for anything they can.
Staff were very nice and helpful. The bank itself is the problem.
When I asked if I could change my branch office to the one I was in they said yes but it wouldn't take effect until the first of August. Over a month. They are the flintstones.

Worst experience

Worst experience! Been using this bank service for almost 7 years and it is my only bank account with all my money. My account been blocked last week without any notification. I went to the bank and I was told I need to bring documentation about my income and I've got an appointment foe next day with lady named Carmen. Next morning I'm waiting in a queue to be attended with all the documents I have and then they tell me Carmen is not working here. I explained to another worker what happened and that I have all my documents and he refused to upload them because he gave my different version for blocking my account, he said my account is pending tobe verified if all of my personal details is up to date. I am single mother of two, I have payments, car insurance, loans to pay for, they left me with 20€ in cash with no explanation, no help. I went to the bank again today, third day in a row asking how can I make this verification process to go faster or if there is any chances to make that verifications urgent, but I was told they can't do anything and sent me home. I was told that I should stop coming in and just wait.
All my money is at the the bank frozen, no specific reason given for blocking my account, no notice, I'll get into a debts and I was told thats my problem, not them.

Imposing demands but delivering nothing

I am a former Bankia customer whose account was automatically switched to Lacaixa. Ever since then, I haven't been able to consult anyone online for anything. As usual they take 60 euros every other month. Recently, my old credit card expired, which with Bankia, I will get a new one in the mail. Now, nothing. And the card number has changed 2 times and I can't make purchases anymore. The online advisor is never available. From what I see of other customers, I need to travel to Barcelona which I did last December. They line people up in one branch and herd them like sheep saying there's a queue to attend to. No other branch is available for this service! I am tired now.

Terrible customer service.

I went to my local Caixa bank a couple of times now in Mahon calle s'Arravaleta and one or the ladies there is systematically unpleasant and condescendant. This time I had to leave before finishing what I went for as she was so rude. It is unacceptable. In the future I will book an appointment with Cristina each time I have questions as she was lovely, professional and very efficient.

Victim blaming when you get scammed

In english: I was scammed through vinted, told Caixa right away to do a chargeback. Caixa said to relax, nothing would happen. Money went through, so I did the whole process and submitted police report to get money back. They claim you can reach out with any questions, I have with no response for more than a week, so I reached out via phone. Lady on the phone said it was my own fault I got scammed. When I tried explaining the scam, she hung up on me.

Dreadful

Dreadful! The bank is OK, not wonderful because their communication systems are so poor, but Caixa insurance is terrible. Trying to speak to somebody with a pulse is almost impossible and they don't fulfil the dates and times they set out so you spend days waiting for somebody to come and fix things. Find another insurance company.

Service a disaster - impossible to close an account

Since 2 years we have - fortunately no need for a bank in Spain. Experience was absolutely disastrous, arrogant, ignorant. Responsible personnel at the Barcelona office constantly changed. Now we fight for closure of the bank account. They are unable and unwilling to do this. Instead, we get regularly harassed with "open fees" for an account we don't need, want, nor use at all. The last request was to update our passports and data protection infos - which we refuse to do. It is truly sickening... (and very sad: in 2005 when opening an account, it was an excellent service for several years.

Abusive bank with high fees

Abusive bank with high fee if you wish to withdraw money. It is like it is managed by someone with a quite conservative person. Someone old that has a mentality like living in the 80' where people can be abused.

Luckily, with internet and information, people can read reviews and experiences and I really want to think customers will swap to another banks but not then. I am pretty sure that most of the customers they have are retired people or pensioners that had been previously in another bank like Cajasol or Caja San Fernando, and they took them when they made a fusion.

I wouldn't recommend to anyone La Caixa and therefore I would suggest to the current customers to change if they have the chance

Worst bank experience ever!!

Worst bank experience ever!!! I have not received my card despite 5 attempts to re-send it from the bank office. The staff in the offices has no clue on what to do for simple operations such as accounts changes, I have never received the same answer twice for the same request, they are extremely badly trained (or not at all!). Furthermore, it looks like they are trained to lie to customers, as I recently discovered I was told to conclude a home insurance with them for one year when in fact this was for three years.

Useless customer service

I asked a simple question via their web form. Where on earth I can pay a fee in cash in the city I live. (Since they are digitalizing everything, in all banks, there seems to be just no option to pay in cash anymore, at least where I live.)
1.They responded with a standard info about payments which can be found on their page and doesn't correspond to my question;
2. To fulfill the form I had to indicate a ton of unnecessary and personal information like the id number, all this just to be able to make a general question which had nothing to do with the personal data.
