Subpar banking

The app is terrible. They charge fees for everything and do not tell you some of the reasons why. They will steal your last dollar. Internal document administration is poor. Again, the app is terrible. Changed to BBVA a year ago and can see an amazing difference. Caixabank is not recommended. There are much better options out there.

Was a costumer with a bank that caixa bought. At the time we was renovating and the agreement was that when we were done the private loan was going to be included in the morgage.
Caixa was now the owner of our morgage and does not want to put the private loan into the house loan.
My wife did in this time get a reduced position at work. For this we did have an insurance, but did not work.
In total we now have to pay 1000 euro more than we have in income
Not possible
We have tried to explain but they just keep calling to say we need to pay.
We have sold the car
Our kid el bike
Just to pay them, now there are no more things to sell except the house. It is listed but not sold.
They are not a company anyone should be a client in. Stay away not willing to do anything to help. I have never experienced to be treated like this in my life.

I am a customer at Caixa bank

I am a customer at Caixa bank, with a - formerly - free account and I noticed earlier this year that I'm charged 20€ for this free account (60€ trimestral). So I went to the office (Los Llanos de Aridane, La Palma) to enquire what I can do to avoid the charges, and was told, that I need to make a monthly transfer of 600€. Which I did. Nonetheless, I was charged again the next period. Once more in the office what can be done, they told me to open an free imagin account. Which, again, I did. Since then I'm trying to close the Caixa account in order to avoid new charges in the end of October. Although I have been in the office, negociating with the staff to close my account for hours, they keep finding excuses for not doing so.
On this account, I had 2 monthly standing orders, and 1 charge from a subscription, no more, no less.
First, it could not be closed because I of the 2 monthly standing orders, which first would need to be "taken care of". And I had to come in again once they had done that. The second meeting, they claimed to have moved them to the imagin account, but I can't see them. But at least they confirmed, that they are not the problem any more. Then, they claimed that it can't be closed because I had a monthly subscription on the 4th of each month, and although I could prove that that 1. it's not connected to the Caixa account (it was before, but I already changed the bank connection and deleted any Caixa account information for this subscription) and 2. it's not even active any more. So I came in again, but they said I had to wait longer until they can close the account, because they need to make sure that there are no further charges to it.

Unfortunately, I can't prove that there are no impending charges, withdrawals or anything else on the Caixa account, because the very first thing they did during the first meeting to close the account, was to cancel my access to the Caixa account. Is that even legal? I can't access any information, I can't see or control who accesses my account, they can make any withdrawal and charge me interest if they want - I'm completely helpless.

Regarding the supposed future charge from the already inactive subscription, they made me make a transfer of the amount (9,95€) to the Caixa account to secure this payment, as the funds had already been transferred to the imagin account. And they told me, to come back (that would be the 6th time that I have to come into the office, the 4th since trying to close the account) next week, and then they'll probably find another reason to not close the account. Because I think the goal is, to keep it open and eventually charging me hundreds of euros in fees. I already paid 180€.

Regarding the imagin account, just as a note, after this experience, I'm looking at other options for online banks, because my trust in the Caixa group has been shattered. Refusal to close my account while refusing my accessing or controlling it? Unheard of!

I'm prepared to go to court with that, because I am absolutely sure that this is legally absolutely wrong, not to mention ethically. I have the right to close an account that has a positive saldo (currently, there are 9,95 on it, and I don't even expect them to return those) and provably NO future charges made to this account from MY side.

Even one star is too much.

Even one star is too much.
1. Waiting times in their offices are long. They have my money but I have to wait (at least) half an hour to get something done.
2. My personal "gestor" basically never answers my questions, never does anything.
3. The online customer service people are nice and answer on time, but they are still useless because a) they don't really understand the question and b) won't/can't resolve the problem. It's like running around in circles.
4. There are effectively no benefits to having an account there.
After months of trying to get anywhere with them, I took out all my money and am banking elsewhere.

Worst bank ever

I was a client of Bankia with a free account. Bankia got acquired by Caixabank and suddenly they started charging 60 EUR fee per quarter. Now I need to fly to Spain because it is not possible to cancel an account online in 2023 (they are 20 years behind)

Harassment to clear €57 overdraft !!

I had 3 calls from the bank chasing for a 57 euro overdrawn balance , after having sent the monies across, as they made me feel like a criminal.
They levied these so-called bank charges without my knowledge and when I reviewed my account it was overdrawn.
I only have a mortgage with them( transferred from a take-over from Bankia) and I get these huge charges.
I have asked them several times to switch to an account that has minimal charges and they just say I need to come over to Spain to visit the branch.
I had an appointment with then in April and they did nothing but simply said it was out of their control and my request would need to go to Madrid.
When I spoke to an advisor in Madrid they said I would need to speak to my advisor in my branch.......they are ruthless and should not be used by any expats whatsoever.
I am going to get rid of them as soon as I can sell our property.

Rude, offensive and disrespectful

This review is for a man who works as a director of the bank. Pay attention - a director.
The whole experience occur in Bulgaria in one of their local sites.
We were on a vacation with a booked tour with a local company. All of a sudden this man - Eduardo Gomez Sebastian showed up with a woman and a little girl, pushed everybody a side and shoved himself inside the building. I have to point out we had an appointment, but he said and I quote "I don't care, i'm gonna miss my flight". Disgusting manners!
Our tour guide asked him nicely to wait for the group but he couldn't care less.
When the security came and asked him to leave... he started shouting on the tour guide and curse him - in front of his own little girl. That was awful.
Surprisingly our tour guide didn't respond and saved the day.
It is embarrassing to let people like that to represent our country to the world. He has to be ashamed!
Such a behavior should not be tolerated!!!

La Caixa fellowships say to be for…

La Caixa fellowships say to be for graduate students wanting to study at graduate schools from various countries but they only will give scholarships to cheap graduate schools. They will manipulate the results so the lowest score goes to references (which the applicant isn’t supposed to see as they are directly submitted by referees to La Caixa), and thus justify with the numbers why a candidate that is applying to an expensive school is not shortlisted.

The last of the last! Der ALLERLETZTE Kundenservice

Der ALLERLETZTE Kundenservice.
Since 10 days I am waiting that the customer service is returning my calls to get my online banking access fixed again. I have to call each day Spanish customer support numbers and they are not able to help me. In the meantime, they blocked my bank account, because of not filling out some documentation, but as I cannot access online, I cannot fill out the required information, neither they are sending it to me per email in the meantime, so that I am able to react. It seems to be that we are living in the 80s, what a bad service and I am a customer there for over 20 years now.
Never again! Ones I will have paid my mortgage I am out of this unprofessional and unfriendly bank and customer service.

To be avoided!

They are loan sharks and thieves. They levy taxes from your account without first warning and without consent. In their offices, in addition to incompetence, you will find only arrogant, rude people who will be of no help to you.

I am locked out of my bank account.I am trying to reset password. I have called and spoken to several people who all say they will send me a text to reset the password and nothing comes through.
This is the third time this has happened, and its getting harder and harder to resolve.
You give an option to reset the password online but it includes using a debit card to give the numbers- i dont have a debit card so i cant do it that way. I cant come into the bank as i live in the UK and am the carer of an elderly relative.

These people have no right to stay in…

These people have no right to stay in business. They are thieving, lying incompetents. They have an office in England so you can sue them here or anywhere else they have an office. My action failed because a District Judge required production of a written contract which I have never had. My account was opened 42 years ago with the Caja Canarias, and subsequently taken over by (eventually) La Caixa. Their London Legal Department is just as arrogant and incompetent as the rest of their employees.
The District Judge has now admitted he made a mistake, but refuses to do anything about it.

Access to my account seems impossible…

Access to my account seems impossible as I have no longer got the spanish mobile associated with thr account. The only way to resolve any issue with Lacaixa is to physically visit a branch - which is fine unless you're out of the country. My other spanish bank has fixed this issue in minutes over the phone.
But La Caixa arent able to. Authentication method needs to have flexibility in these situations.
