Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 111 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently complained about significant difficulties with the online booking process and unhelpful customer service representatives who completely failed to properly resolve their flight issues. Many people also experienced unexpected extra charges, hidden service fees, and extremely rigid cancellation policies that made modifying travel plans a very frustrating ordeal. Some reviewers were happy with the fast assistance provided by agents and appreciated receiving smooth flight modifications when their travel schedules suddenly changed. A few consumers found the customer support team helpful when managing specific reservation adjustments and taking advantage of quick price matching guarantees.

Run for your life

Run for your life! I prepaid to book a hotel in Mexico City with my credit card on Capital One Travel. When I got to the hotel they told me that they hadn’t received payment. I called Capital One and spoke to an Asian woman IN Asia and her voice had a five second delay which made it extremely difficult to communicate. After keeping me on the line for 45 minutes she tells me that they did pay and that that was all she could tell me. The next day I spoke with reservations at the hotel who confirmed that they hadn’t received payment. I called again and spoke with Kevin. I think they only have a few people working there because I’ve spoken with these same two before. Kevin tells me he has to look into it and will call me back within the hour. 3 hours later Kevin called me back saying he couldn’t get an answer. The he says….get this…. “What I am going to do now is email the hotel and ask them to send proof that we paid them.” WHAT?! But they say you didn’t pay them. I couldn’t believe how dumb this was. To be at the hands of such ignorant people is demeaning. So now I’m still here and had to pay for the hotel twice and will deal with it when I get home. I swear they pay these people that they outsource to just BS you and say “I understand and I am sore” but who cannot do a thing. It’s AWFUL. Capita One should be shamed of themselves.

I made the mistake of booking a trip to…

I made the mistake of booking a trip to the UK through Capital One Travel. Take my advice, DON’T DO IT.
They misspelled my name so that it didn’t match my passport. They said they couldn’t fix it and that American Airlines had to fix it. American Airlines said Capital One Travel had to fix it.
This left me no choice but to cancel my flights with American and receive a $1600 travel credit.
Flights are now near $3000 for the same ticket.
I’ve tried to write to the CEO of Capital One Travel and am unable to find a viable email address.
Customer service is useless.

Flight Booked through Capital One…

I booked a flight through Capital One with Frontier Airlines. Frontier airlines cancelled the flight and provided refund immediately. It has been more than a week and looks like it might take another 10 days for capital one to refund the amount to me.

Be careful when using the Capital One…

Be careful when using the Capital One travel card they do not stand behind their full guarantee. my flight left while I was on hold with them for 2 1/2 hours and now they have said the flight has taken off so there’s no refund surprise surprise so don’t pay the extra Money that they charge to go through them to get the flights. It’s not worth it if they don’t follow up with their promises so disappointed as I have two of these cards and have recommended more too bad they lost me over a $200 change, but I will never use them again. Stick with the original airlines you will pay less and your money won’t get not returned to you so disappointed in Capital One.

If I could give them zero stars

If I could give them zero stars, I would. They left us completely stranded on Marco Island in Florida with nowhere to stay! We booked a 4 night stay at the Hilton Marco Island through Capital One travel and prepaid fully for it. When we got to the Hilton, they had no reservation and were completely booked, as were all other hotels on Marco. Instead of our beach vacation, we ended up at a Hampton Inn in downtown Naples. At least Capital One told us they would refund the entire amount without fees. Very big of them!! They suck! Cancelling the card and going with American Express, less “low rent “.

Horrible experience

I booked a flight for my niece and I to Peru and her last name was spelled wrong(my bad) but when I noticed I called to have it fixed. They told me they cant fix it Delta needs to fix and and Delta told me no Latam needs to fix it but no Capital One Travel has to do it on their end. When I call them back they say I dont want you to sit on hold so we will call you back with 30 minutes. 2 days later im calling them back. So I have to pay $50 to switch 2 letters around and add 1 letter( fine just do it) but now they need to speak to the primary account holders name to charge the $50 even though my name is on the card used ti purchase the tickets. That makes no since at all. You didn't need him when I paid the $1500 for the tickets on my card but you need him for $50. What a joke. Ill never use Capital One travel again. In 2 days I've spent more then 7 hours on the phone trying to fix this.

Bait and switch

Bait and switch - i paid for an upgraded room on a trip to Aruba in a Marriot and when we arrived it wasn't available and they gave a lesser room for two nights. Cap One and Marriot refused to refund the difference. It took 4 hours arguing with cap one on the phone to even check in. I'd never use a 3rd party travel site again.
When i got home i escalated it and they still refused to refund difference.

I booked a one night stay at the Miami…

I booked a one night stay at the Miami Airport Hotel through Capital One Travel since I had a credit to use. I did not have any problems with the booking itself, the reception at the hotel was very accommodating and allowed us to check in early at no extra charge. The hotel room albeit convenient being at the airport was very outdated, not very clean, the shower leaked and had sporadic hot water for showers. The morning we checked out, there was not enough water pressure to flush the toilet and everyone had to take a pressure less cold shower. I am not sure why Capital One would have such a horrible hotel listed on their travel site! I will definitely do more research in the future when using Capital One Travel.

I booked a rental and they had no cars…

I booked a rental and they had no cars and I had to call and get it taken off they don’t wait til it’s verified and so the next day I rebooked and kept the car 1 day and enterprise have gave a paper and they are verifying that I only kept the car one day and they are saying that it’s on them and not there end so I know it’s cheaper through them but definitely not worth it if you have to keep it less days or don’t go get it they are still charging you for it and holding the process out for u to still have to pay and be accountable for something u never used.
#neveragain it’s been going on since the 5 th and today they gave me a number that don’t work
I’ll just book through my other card

Capital One doesn’t care if a war has started. They’ll keep your money

Booked Emirates flights and hotel for my honeymoon to the Maldives through capital one travel. Itinerary included an overnight layover in Dubai. Obviously given the current situation, I don’t feel safe flying through Dubai this weekend.
Emirates official policy at the moment is to provide a full refund with not cancelation fee for flight through Mar. 31st.
Capital One travel on the other hand is charging a $600 cancellation fee despite Emirates policy which is such a joke.

Lesson learned I guess. Even if a war breaks out, Capital One will hold on to your money. I’ll be booking direct from now on.

Cancelation due to unsafe weather conditions.

I booked one night at Bavarian Lodge in Leavenworth, WA, using Capital One Travel. The morning of my stay I received travel/ weather advisories that indicated only emergency travel should be conducted on the route I needed to take due to a winter storm/ blizzard causingunsafe conditions. I called the property and explained this, asking for a cancelation waiver. Steve (9:25am on 3/10/26) indicated it was the decision of the 3rd party to approve a waiver. I called Capital One Travel (Rachel 9:30a 3/10/26) and they said it was Bavarian Lodge's decision. Someone lied. And no one was concerned. Terrible customer service on both ends. I was looking for a credit so I could rebook; however, now I will not stay at this property, and I am consideringcancelingmy CapitolOne creditcard. Shame on you both!

Major word of caution

Major word of caution: Capital One Travel significantly inflated my hotel room rate. I paid a total value of over $2,200 (points + cash) for two nights, only to find out the hotel’s direct rate was $299/night. When I reached out to resolve the $1,600 discrepancy, Capital One offered excuses rather than solutions, even suggesting I use my points on other things next time.

As a former long-time Amex Platinum member, I regret switching to Venture X. The lack of price transparency and the dismissive customer service are dealbreakers. I accept my mistake for not cross-referencing the price beforehand, but the level of price gouging here is predatory. Moving my business back to Amex.

The worst customer service

The worst customer service. I booked a flight through them wanting to give them a chance instead through American. Because I’m a Aadvantage member if I would have booked through American I would have received a travel credit but since I booked through capital one travel instead, capital one is not offering any kind of credit. NEVER BOOK WITH CAPTIAL ONE TRAVEL. Always book with the airline.

Horrible customer service

This has to be the worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I will never use their portal again after a flight itinerary got completely changed and they wanted to charge $8000 to change it.

Book your flights directly through the airlines! Don’t use Capital one!

If I had an option less than 1 review, they would get it. I chose to use capital one for their flight rewards. I have flown on several trips through them without having to change or reschedule. However, I booked a $500 flight to Corpus Christi. We are no longer able to go. They told me, if you need to make changes or need a travel credit, contact the American airlines. The airline tells you to contact capital one. It’s a joke. American said they would have credited my trip had I booked with them directly. So now I’m screwed and lost money and all of my miles. Book with the airline directly. Don’t bother with capital one. Terrible service. I will never give them any of my business again!
