Absolutely Useless

I made a representation to NCO Europe Ltd earlier this year due to medical reasons and had a debt written off. However, the debt still shows as active on my credit file even though it was written off in June. Capquest have also been erroneously reporting late repayments for months, causing my credit rating to nosedive. NCO have confirmed to me that they wrote this debt off in June and contacted Capquest to confirm this. I called Capquest on September 8th (three months after the write off) who said they had no knowledge of the debt being settled. They told me they would call NCO and get it actioned. However, this week my credit file still shows an open debt. I already have a complaint open about the late repayments but Capquest have done nothing to actually get the debt closed. They keep telling me they have to contact a 'back office' department and have no idea how long it'll take. I have waited three months for this to be actioned.

Scammers

This so-called company emailed me about some debt to a bank that I've never ever banked with, nor ever had any loan from anywhere to do with that bank or their subsidiaries.
I'm not wasting my time contacting them as from what I've read & heard about them they're not nice at all.

Do not be taken in with the 5 star reviews, they're too good to be true and appear contrived & false.

Opos and Capquest customer disservice

I was referred to CAPQUEST recently to discuss an ancient account from Abbey National which is approximately 25 years old. I phoned Capquest to discuss the matter to be told that they had passed everything to an agent called OPOS. I contacted Opos but as they had been given incorrect details I was unable to pass their security. Due to this they refused to discuss anything and so I called Capquest again and was able to pass their security. I also discovered where the error was for Opos and phoned them back to explain that the error was in their data. There was a 1 digit error on my date of birth and having explained this to them they still refused to speak to me and terminated the call. I called Capquest again who still would not discuss anything and stated that I had to deal with Opos. I phoned them back and agreed to send a photocopy of my passport showing my correct D.O.B. I received a reply confirming receipt but calling back a few days later was told that their system had not been updated and they would not discuss anything. This continued for a further couple of weeks and I offered to resend my passport details. I again received a confirmation of receipt of my email but again a week later they still claimed they had not received anything. They then emailed asking me to call urgently to speak to an Alison. I called and was then told that Alison was a made up name to avoid giving their real names . They then stated that as I could not pass security they would still not discuss anything. I asked to make a complaint but was refused as they said I could not psss security and therefore I might not be their client. I contacted the ombudsman service who suggested I send an email to the compliance manager detailing my concern I then sent a complaint to their compliance manager and went back to Capquest who still refused to discuss anything insisting I dealt with Opos. Opos eventually replied to my complaint stating that they did not believe I had sent my passport details as they had requested and claimed that they had no record of any emails from me. They ignored the two confirming emails that I had received and stated that they had not refused to allow me make a complaint. They have now also refused to deal with me referring me back to Capquest. I phoned them and was told that they had not received anything from Opos and therefore I would have to wait again until they received confirmation from Opos. So far to date I have made over 20 phone calls and spent over three hours on the phone trying to resolve this situation and so far I have spent over two months trying to fix the situation. It is now with the Ombudsman service and will have to wait for their decision as Santander have stated that they cannot offer a solution to this situation. I have found OPOS and Capquest to be devoid of any concern or understanding of customer service.

Buying Statute Barred debts trying to trick people into paying unrecoverable debts, Got a letter from Opos Limited claiming they’ve took control of the ‘Debt’ called them and explained Orange Mobile went out of business 10 years ago which makes it barred, The call handler agreed and closed the account, There has been no sign of this Orange account on my credit report either. No idea how they have obtained my postal address.

A scam !!! Beware

A scam !!!
Letter all looks official but beware!
They are chasing for debt from Grattans from 2023. I’ve never dealt with Grattans.
I phoned up Capquest on 01389493417. The guy was extremely rude, asked for my ref number and then my date of birth, which I wouldn’t give. He then got aggressive and said he couldn’t go further with the call and hung up. Also they said the £155 debt could be reduced to £39 if I paid now
I have reported this to action fraud.

scammers

SCAMMERS, I received a letter from capquest/opos dated 23/07/2025. stating that a debt I had, has been passed on to Capquest/opos. Thought this odd, as the debt was from an unpaid Orange bill from 31/05/2023.
Don’t get me wrong, I haven been the best with finances through the years, I had not had anything to do with orange for nearly two decade and I am confident, I don't owe anyone money, let alone Orange.
I contacted Capquest/opos but they have the worst customer service ever,
I am glad I did not fall for there scam please be careful with this scammers they will do anything to get money from they will rip you off if they have the opportunities. Thankfully I came back to Trustpilot to distroy there plans and save anyone who is fortunate to read this review.
With many bad review, each describing my exact experience please be careful!!!l.

Bullet Dodged, as if I’m honest, i was going to just pay the £105.01. Instead of the £420.04 (which would leave the debt off my file) as they claim.

What a terrible Scam. Not only do we have to deal with scam telephone calls/text messages and emails daily, but now actual paper mail (a form of communication I would trust more than anything, as the effort needed to go through the mailing process is so much longer and costly and the environment, for the scammers).
the government should stop this is illegal data breach I would appreciate if anyone reading this be more vigilant.
CAPQUEST/OPOS please get a job this is not a job.

Harassment and Breaking the Law

Calling workplaces looking for colleagues and announcing who the are.

Don’t think this comes under what they are legally allowed to do:

What debt collectors can and cannot do

A debt collector can:

Visit you at home
Speak to you discreetly about your debt
Try to set up a payment arrangement
Ask you to make payment to them

I don’t believe announcing you’re a debt collection company to co-workers is being DISCREET!

and I think it also would be covered by what they’re not allowed to:

But debt collectors cannot:

Come to your workplace
Act in a threatening or intimidating way

I’d say this says it all about this shambles of a company

Ive not contacted Capquest, but after a quick google search, thankfully i came across Trust pilot, with many bad review, each describing my exact experience.

Fraudsters

These people are no more than fraudsters, contacting people with incorrect info over 20years out of date, demanding money you don't owe. Soon backed off when I asked for the legal teams information for my solicitor. The issue is that vulnerable people will get conned of potentially thousands of pounds. Have report them to the fraud dept of the police in the England and Scotland, trading standards and NatWest bank.
