No refunds - unreal - UPDATED!!

Cheap Caribbean reached out through this site and asked for more information. About a week later I received a call from them telling me a fill refund is on its way. Thank you! We'll be back.

Was so excited for a vacation in April 2020 but Covid. I get that they couldn't give out refunds right away, instead extending a future credit until January. CDC still says not to go to the Caribbean, and I'm stuck with a credit that I can't possible use. Sat on hold today waiting 3 hours and 40 minutes and finally got through to Luis. He said my credit was extended until December 2021. Gee thanks...Like things are going to be any better by then. More likely, CheapCaribbean will go under and I'll lose it all.

Best case, things open up a little...then I get to wait on a call for four more hours to book. Insanity.

Do us all a favot CheapCaribbean -add Florida to your destinations so I can at least recoup some of my loss.

Will NEVER use again!

I have been a Cheap Caribbean customer for several years and have always had great experiences when booking my travel accommodations using their services until recently. I booked a trip in December 2019 for August 2020 for a wedding in the Dominican Republic. Of course this was before the pandemic broke out. I called and called and would be on the phone for up to FOUR HOURS only for the call to drop.

On June 3rd I finally got through and cancelled my trip. By the time I called to cancel my trip I had lost two family members due to Covid and have since lost two more (one as recently as two weeks ago!) I myself suffered from the virus and know how serious getting sick and spreading it is. There was no way I could, in good conscience, keep my trip and possibly spread this disease.

When I cancelled my trip I was told that I had until December 15th, 2021 to use ALL of my $1,825.44 credit. There was no distinction made between the flight portion and the hotel portion of this credit. I also NEVER received an email detailing any of this! All I received was an email stating that my trip had been cancelled.

Last week I called customer support to inquire about booking a trip for April (I'm still not comfortable with traveling however I am pregnant and I will not be able to travel after April since my husband does not have flexibility. I definitely will not be able to travel before December 2021 since I will be giving birth in July!

The customer service rep had informed me that it would probably be best that I wait until about a month before I wanted to travel and I agreed. When I asked her to confirm when my credit would expire she confirmed YET AGAIN that I had until December 15th, 2021 to use ALL of my $1,825.44 credit.

During this phone call I was informed that the credit is actually split into two, until this point I thought I just had almost $2000 worth in generic Cheap Caribbean credit. It wasn't until I inquired about possibly transferring my flight credit back to a JetBlue travel bank to be used for other flights including domestic that she told me that my flights had actually just expired! If this was not obvious without some digging on their customer service reps end how could this at all be obvious to me?

I informed her that there was absolutely no way that my "flight credits" could have expired when I was told I had until December 2021 and I didn't even know that my credit was split into two ($1,117.50 in JetBlue credit and $707.94 in Cheap Caribbean credit). She also informed me that the notes also explicitly state that I had until December 2021 and that there was no distinction made between the flight and hotel credits.

What's more, they expected me to travel during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. My husband works in a jail where the virus is running rampant. How could they expect us to use $1100 in flights before the end of 2020?

I have also spoken with JetBlue and was told that my credit is still held by Cheap Carribean and is in "OK Status" meaning that the ticket is still valued at the price I paid for it ($558.75 pp). JetBlue said that Cheap Caribbean can and should be able to credit me back for my flights. Cheap Caribbean says theres nothing they can do. JetBlue says that this is a lie and they just do not want to credit me back my flights.

I have spent the last several weeks dealing with this and was told that nothing could be done about my problem. I believe that this response is unfair because as I stated above I was given incorrect/ false information by one of their customer service reps.

Not only am I disappointed in a company that I have used for years I am embarrassed because I convinced many other family members to book their trips with Cheap Carribean and they have lost money in one way or another!

Cheap Caribbean, you can fix this! I've always loved booking quick getaways using your company, but expecting my husband and I to use our flights within 6 months (June - December) during a global pandemic is HIGHLY irresponsible and morally reprehensible!

Fraudulent Activity with MY airline tickets

I booked a trip back on September 26, 2019 for a trip for April 12th - April 17th. Due to an illness and Covid I had to cancel my trip which I did with Cheap Carribean in March 2020. I was told I would receive a credit to use until the end of December 2020. I called Jet Blue to use my credit on December 4 (to see family) and was told that Cheap Carribean tranferred my tickets to another family. It was done without my knowledge and my tickets were still vaild (not expired like they claimed) First they told me they expired July 26th (which was not even a full year from when I purchased my tickets) then they took that back and said they expired in September. When I called Jet Blue the rep told me they issue a credit a YEAR from the date the tickets were canceled which was March 2020 so they would have been valid and mine to use until March 2021.

Cheap Caribbean refuse to take any responsibility for this illegal transfer of my tickets and for ruining a family vacation with a credit I could not use in December b/c they purged my tickets. I do not trust this company and I want a REFUND b/c they cannot guarantee me this will not happen again in the future with a "credit" (they do not honor it b/c they take it upon themselves to resell purchased tickets)

If it was possible to leave negative…

If it was possible to leave negative stars I would. My trip was cancelled in early September 2020 including my American Airlines flight. I have been waiting for refund since this time. Cheap Carribbean has terrible customer service and absolutely no follow through. I have called and waited on hold 4 hours, 3 hours, and the minimum wait time 1.5 hours. Each time I’ve called I have been told my refund is coming. Different timeframes each time. In the past 30-45 days I’ve been told my account has been escalated three times. Each time a different window. 6-10 weeks, then 7-10 days, then 48-60 hours, then 12-14 days. Always a different story and different timeframe. If you email, you receive a generic response not answering any questions and are directed to call customer service. If you chat, you’re told it’s escalated and it’s handled through internal email requests. Cheap Carribbean cannot hold money for 4 months on a fully refundable cancellation!!! You can never talk to anyone in escalation department. Also they refuse to provide any information on how to file a formal complaint. #bookelsewhere #cheapcarribbeanisterrible #negativestarreview

HORRIBLE company, DOES NOT REFUND!

HORRIBLE company. STAY FAR FAR AWAY! I booked a trip the other day in which I put a deposit of $1,200 down because I was afraid my travel agent at AAA wouldn't be able to price match. I had every intention of canceling within 24 hours once I talked to my travel agent. My card was NOT refunded the $1,200 and I talked to a customer service rep who said it would take 30-60 days to refund this credit! I mean it was still in the "pending" phase?!?! There's no reason why it coudn't have been refunded. I'm extremely worried now that the whole amount won't be refunded even though the customer service representative said that it would be. Especially after reading all of these bad reviews. This company basically USES your money to pay their bills so they don't get more and more behind with their responsibilities. That's why it takes them SO LONG to refund you!!! Now I'm going to get more interest on my credit card because of this $1,200.00. I feel like I may have a seizure!

The NIGHTMARE continues...

I wrote an review about this AWFUL agency a couple of weeks ago complaining about the way they handled my accommodations of wanting to cancel and how the hidden fees and wording are very misleading. The company wrote back and called me to try and sort out the problem to make it better.

I spoke to a representative that spoke broken English for 20 minutes about my options if I were to cancel my trip, which was no different than the awful options I had before. I told her, "I have no other option but to go on the trip because your cancelation policy is horrendous." 5 minutes later I see an email come through that says "Your Trip Has Been Canceled"!?!?!?!!?

WHAT?!?!? I DID NOT CANCEL MY TRIP! Then I get another email saying that I would be refunded in CREDITS $400 LESS than my original cost. I paid $2382 for my trip and they are trying to refund me in CREDITS $1982 for a trip I DID NOT CANCEL!

Someone needs to SHUT THIS COMPANY DOWN ASAP!!!!!!!

I'm going to take this as far as I have to go to get this company what it deserves.

NEVER AND I MEAN NEVERRRR USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING!

Cheap Caribbean HORRIBLE Customer Service

I booked a trip to DR in December of 2019. On March 18, 2020 I went on my trip where I encountered numerous problems. The hotel I had originally booked, Iberostar Punta Cana, was closed and no one had informed me. I was brought to a different hotel where I sat in the lobby for 4 hours because they could not find my reservation. When we were finally brought to our room, they had given us one room and threw a cot in the corner, when I had paid for 2 rooms. The hotel itself was pretty much closed. No restaurants, activities, shops, or bar/ clubs. On our third day there we were forced to leave due to the U.S borders closing. I paid for a weeks stay. I have been fighting with the travel agency for almost a year now and they are refusing to give me a refund. I also almost got stuck in DR because cheap Caribbean never notified me that my flight was cancelled. Very unprofessional and unreliable. I will be leaving complaints and reviews everywhere and will NEVER use Cheap Caribbean again. The hotel also tried calling both cheap Caribbean and amstar, where they also had no luck. Due to that I had to pay over $1200 out of pocket to get home because cheap Caribbean was unreachable. I also never got any notification that my flight had been cancelled. On cheap caribbeans website and in the emails they sent me, which I have, it states that if I have a nonstop flight booked, not to worry they should be departing as normal. It also says that if departure plans have changed, cheap Caribbean has identified those customers and is working with amstar to get in touch and provide earlier flight options. I was never notified about any flight cancellation or the fact that US citizens needed to leave, I almost got stuck in DR because cheap Caribbean is unreachable and extremely unreliable. Also, after the trip I had requested a refund from United Airlines for my trip home, because it never happened. They told me the refund was sent back to a master card linked to the travel agency I had booked with. Cheap Caribbean never notified me of this refund that I’m supposed to be receiving. Everything for my trip was already paid for but I had to pay so much more due to cheap Caribbean being unreachable. I have emailed all the issues to the post travel customer care where I received a response that the case will be looked into, and that I would be updated along the way especially if the time line changes. I was never contacted or updated by Cheap Caribbean. Instead I had to send several emails in April , one not so nice, to finally receive a phone call telling me that my hotel was closed till May 1, so nothing could be done until then. June 1, I contacted Cheap Caribbean once again asking for an update on my case, having not heard from anyone in over a month. June 2, I received an email stating that the issues that occurred while on my trip, including having to leave early, were out of Cheap Caribbean’s hands and all they could do was offer me a $150 credit. Clearly my case was not looked into at all, I’ve been following the hotel on social media and they were still closed at the time. They also named the wrong hotel in the email, proving that nothing was looked into. I have all the emails saved from when I first booked my trip in December to now. Everything stated in those emails were not followed or backed up at all. Cheap Caribbean is BEYOND unreliable and unprofessional. I recently sent in a new complaint threatening a lawyer where someone did call me and once again said the case will be looked into.

Don’t use

I booked a vacation for Mexico hoping the pandemic would be over by the time we went. We understood the pandemic may not be over by the time we vacationed, but booked because the hotel was marked as refundable. Upon contacting CheapCaribbean to ask where our refund was (it had been over a month since canceling), I was told that the refund would be in the form of a travel credit to use within 1 year. Nowhere was this stipulated when making the reservation. We would NOT have booked this vacation if we knew it would not be refunded. I am very disappointed.

DO NOT USE CHEAP CARIBBEAN!!!!

I will NEVER recommend Cheap Caribbean EVER! They have the WORST customer service I have ever dealt with in my entire life! Never have I been treated so badly by customer service reps!! I was put on hold for hours at a time and the problem was never resolved. I was HUNG UP on multiple times by the reps!!! I booked a trip to Mexico and had to cancel due to COVID. I live with my mom who is going through chemotherapy. I also have a fiancé in the hospital, whom I was supposed to go to Mexico with. I will not be able to travel anytime soon! I asked for a refund and the first person I talked to said my refund will be in my account within 10 days. Two weeks later and now they are saying it will take up to 60 days for a refund and I will not receive all my money back. I asked many times to talk with a supervisor/manager and they REFUSED to transfer me! I cannot believe what I have dealt with from this company!! ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!!!

BUYER/TRAVELER beware!

BUYER/TRAVELER beware!! After spending 8 hours on hold I was finally able to speak to a representative who was of no help to me. My daughter's wedding in the Dominican Republic (Punta Cana) was cancelled in March due to COVID 19 and to no avail CheapCaribbean refuses to refund my money. They have offered me a voucher for a trip at a later date however the reservation was for my husband, my son, my mom and myself. We are all high risk individuals with the exception of my son and do not intend on traveling anywhere especially since the pandemic is still raging. I have not worked outside of my home since March 2020 because of my high risk status. My mom who is 75 years of age never travels her granddaughter's wedding was going to be the exception. I am so disappointed with the lack of concern for our medically documented health conditions. I'm stuck paying a credit card bill totaling $4,342.28.

They made it right-a few days after posting my review the company called and refunded my money! Thank you for doing the right thing!

This company is the worst-I will never ever use them again. I had to call and be left on hold for hours only to for no one to answer or help. I finally go a hold of someone who gave me incorrect information and when I called him out on it he basically said it is the way it goes. I have to use my credit by april and I am not even sure that we feel comfortable to travel by then. They should refund my money-I bought the insurance. Everyone who I knew who booked independently received their money back. I used this awful company and now I am being punished. I tell everyone I know to never ever use them at all EVER. They are unprofessional and rude and they don't care about your time of money. Now they lost a customer for life.

My experience with Cheap Caribbean was…

My experience with Cheap Caribbean was awful. We booked months in advance to take an all inclusive trip to River Maya. When we arrived we waited 45 mins to leave the actual airport because we were waiting for another couple when we booked a van that was suppose to be only the two of us through our booking agent. We booked them through this agency, when we arrived at the hotel we were told that we didn’t book all inclusive even though we called two weeks before our trip to make sure. We bought the anniversary package for the hotel which was not accommodated to us. The hotel they set us up with had black mold in the shower and cockroaches. We had to switch rooms. They didn’t give us a tropical view and we had to pay 500 dollars just to enjoy the all inclusive experience we paid for in the first place! It was a mess! When we tried calling to verify our reservation no one Picked up snd it seemed as if the phones were disconnected. Then when we emailed them and all they could do was give us an 100 dollar credit to use with their services. I’m sorry but no, we won’t be doing any bookings with them again.

After reading some of these reviews

After reading some of these reviews, I feel I should chime in about the business practices regarding cancelled trips due to Covid. I had a trip booked for Cabo in May. Obviously it was cancelled due to Covid. After waiting on hold for over an hour to see about a refund, a woman with an accent so heavy I could barely understand her finally picked up. I was told that my money (minus a cancellation fee) would be held for a future trip, and was good for 1 year. Also, the credit cannot be used by myself on the website, I would have to call back to rebook...after waiting over an hour for a human to talk to. I also tried the chat with an agent feature, but never got an agent to respond to that either. I feel the credit should either be made available to me on the website, or simply refunded. As for the 1 year limit on my $800...there’s no guarantees I can use it in that time period. I bought travel protection and the filing process is literally so complicated I gave up. Buyers beware.

11-23-2020
Update: I was contacted via email after posting my review within a day or so, requesting more information. Today I received a phone call and email , pretty much confirming what I already knew. I was working so could not answer the phone, so following information is from an email and voicemail. I can use my airline credit as long as I book by April 2021. I can use the Cheap Caribbean credit as long as I book by December 2021 (this is longer than the year deadline I was given previously). And if I wished a refund, the Trip Mate travel insurance would reimburse 75% of my total payment, minus their fees (I don't know what those are). I can appreciate them getting back to me quickly, and someone calling who was easily understood. It still does not change the underlying fact that people cannot receive their money back, despite the pandemic and unique reasons for people's vacation being cancelled. These are not normal times. And I'm quite sure that many people out there would currently find the refund more helpful than a credit, as so many are suffering financial difficulties.

This company will not issue our refund for a trip that was cancelled at no fault of ours. The customer service associates are rude and refuse to let you talk to a manager about YOUR money. Regarding booking

We had the worst experience with cheap Caribbean. We booked our trip few days ago and we definitely were so excited for our trip. But obviously we are living in a pandemic situation. My husband suddenly had covid symptoms and he right away went to emergency to get tested. The results take 2-3 days. They are saying; they can't give me my money back and they will hold on and we can rebook later. I mean why don't you make your policies simpler where people can provide you with positive result and just refund their money.

Horrible Customer Service! No Response!

After booking a trip online there was 0 customer service or response from this organization. I emailed several times it was on hold over 3 hours on 2 different phone calls with no response. After pain extra for nonstop flights my trip was modified into a layover and turned a 3 hour and 30 minute trip into over 8 hours and 15 minutes which I understand but what I do not understand is why I had to pay extra for nonstop flights only to have my trip changed with no refund of the price and the flight itinerary modification. I will never book with them again!

My 3 girlfriends and I booked a trip to…

My 3 girlfriends and I booked a trip to Jamaica back in January. Covid struck and we had no choice but to move our April 1st trip in which we paid the extra money for Insurance. When I called to move the trip they gave me the run around. Told me sorry but this is not covered under Insurance so you will have to push your trip out. They charged us each $180.00 which is total BS. Every airlines prices plummeted and Hotel prices also dropped. We are all single Moms and live paycheck to paycheck so this trip was what we could afford. We had no choice but to pay the fees and move our trip from April to November. Well...here we are once AGAIN!!!! Jamaica is in the RED for hotspots and none of us can afford to get quaratined. We simply just want to move our trip again to April. I called cheap Carribean and once again got a song and dance. Customer service rep said airline prices went down but hotel prices went wayyyyyy up!!!!! That is total BS....airlines and hotels are begging for business. I was told twice I would get a call back now with an answer from hotel/airline and I STILL haven’t heard back. This is my 3rd trip booked with Cheapcarribean.com
They obviously don’t care about repeat customers. I cannot afford to lose $1300 and just want to move my trip without a second round of fees. These fees NEVER should’ve been charged the 1st time around. I honestly don’t know what else to do :( We as consumers must have some kind of legal rights no!??
