During my finance agreement, I was contacted out of the blue by a company called Towerhall Solutions, claiming to be acting on behalf of Close Brothers and saying they needed to verify my identity in person. I had never been informed by Close Brothers that a third party would be contacting me, so naturally I was concerned.
Rather than ignoring it, I contacted Close Brothers directly to verify whether the request was genuine. I was told they would investigate and call me back. They never did.
The lack of communication left me questioning whether the contact was legitimate and caused unnecessary stress. I should not have been left in a position where I had to decide whether to trust an unexpected third party asking for my personal identification.
I ultimately decided to settle my finance agreement early because I no longer had confidence in how my account was being handled. After the account was settled, I was even told to contact Towerhall Solutions myself instead of Close Brothers dealing with their own contractor.
The finance has now been confirmed as settled, but the overall experience left me disappointed. Better communication, transparency and customer service would have avoided this entire situation.

What a vile company this is ! I wouldn’t give them a 1 star And I will never ever use finance again with this vile company ! I was taken into hospital for an urgent operation and rang close brothers to explain that I am in hospital and as soon as I get out I will pay my monthly payment. A week and a half later I was sent home and as soon as I got in I made the payment ( they was told by phone call that I may be late due to me being in hospital) I then get a missed payment on my file and brought my money credit score down ! They have no commitment to there customers and just absolute scum ! DO NOT GET ANY FINANCIAL BORROWING FROM THIS ABSOLUTE SCUM OF A COMPANY THEY DO NOT TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH RESPECT!!!!!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED !!!!

When I purchased a new car, the dealer used Close Bros and the finance was set up as a “Conditional Sale”. No issues to start but when I put a private number on the car I was sent a letter telling me in no uncertain terms that the car belonged to Close Bros, no changes were to be made to the vehicle without permission and was charged £35.00. I had avoided insurance companies who practice this method of printing money then I’m stung by the finance company! Close Bros for me, at this stage of the agreement showed no flexibility and were quite abrupt, which is one of the reasons I opted to take my business elsewhere however, when I sold the car there were a few issues caused by the new dealer but Close Bros stepped up and helped me sort things out. If they could have shown this level of flexibility and customer service earlier in the agreement, I may have stayed with them. Don’t avoid Close Bros but look out for “Conditional Sale Agreements” and read the small print.

I brought a car on finance using close brothers, when I tried to sell the car 6 months before the end of the finance agreement it was found that the car I was sold was a stolen car and had no chassis number in the car. I've been chasing this up with the garage who won't respond to me and close brothers are hardly replying. Apparently because I've had the car more than 6 months it's not their problem. I'm a young girl and to be honest I'd never heard of a chassis number before. So I wasn't aware of how serious this was until it was found my car didn't have one. Close brothers are digging their heals in in getting this sorted for me, hardly replying to my emails and when they do it's just to fob me off. I would avoid using them if you can avoid it! Dodgy company working along side dodgy car garages! Thousands and thousands of pounds spent on a car that is now useless

Extremely disappointing experience with Close Brothers
I have been extremely disappointed with my experience dealing with Close Brothers regarding a faulty Ford Ranger.
The vehicle developed serious issues within days of purchase, followed by repeated repair attempts. I eventually rejected the vehicle, but the matter has still not been resolved satisfactorily.
I have also been very concerned about the way my complaint has been handled. I was initially told that an independent inspection was not necessary because I had provided sufficient evidence to support my rejection. An inspection was then arranged through Scotia, which was carried out at the dealership. I have concerns about how thorough and independent this inspection was, particularly as the vehicle was not inspected on a ramp, despite the nature of the mechanical issues I had experienced.
What I find particularly frustrating is that the full history and circumstances surrounding the vehicle do not appear to have been properly considered, with significant reliance being placed on a later inspection that found no fault.
The handling of the compensation has also been extremely disappointing. I was initially offered £1,000, but this was later reduced to just £100 without any clear explanation. The £100 was subsequently paid into my husband’s bank account, despite the fact that I do not accept this amount as a resolution or settlement of my complaint.
The ongoing delays, financial uncertainty and stress this situation has caused have had a significant impact on both my husband and me and are now affecting our health and wellbeing. We are also continuing to incur costs relating to the vehicle, including insurance and vehicle tax, while the matter remains unresolved.
I have now had to escalate my complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
I sincerely hope Close Brothers review how this matter has been handled and take into account the full circumstances rather than focusing solely on one inspection report. This has been an extremely stressful and frustrating experience, and I would not have expected this level of difficulty when dealing with a regulated finance company.

I found it easy to apply for a car loan; it was approved, and all the paperwork was sorted quickly. I was lucky enough to be able to pay off early[lottery win]; it was straightforward to do, and I would use again

Clear, concise contract.Coming from a trade where there is no margin for error,i tend to set my bar quite high!In my opinion the transparency and articulate format that these guys provide deserves recognition. From memory it is nigh on ten years since my last finance agreement with them, during which time our world has become vastly more digital.Despite these changes, both of my experiences with this company have been top notch in every aspect. It is comforting to conclude that integrity and honesty still matter in a chaotic world!
