Brilliant day as detectives!

Had an absolutely fantastic time doing the CSI Liverpool event with my team. The game is easy to follow and a lot of fun! Brilliant for a fun outdoor activity - would recommend this to any budding detectives! We are looking forward to doing another CluedUpp game very soon!

My friends and I just completed the witchcraft and wizardry murder by magic quest and it was soo much fun! We were lost at first but the directions were foolproof and we started to enjoy it as soon as we it started. It was like a real life role playing video game! So much fun we can’t wait to do it again!

It's gotten way to easy

I've done 3 of these. The first two were fun and a little challenging. Had a great time. This last one I did the Wizard one was so VERY easy it was disappointing. All the riddles were super easy to solve as the answer was always a predominant building within 20 feet of our location. The end answer was the first guy they made you think it was so that was disappointing as well. I don't know if this was changed to make it easier for kids but please have some more challenging puzzles for adults in the future as that's mainly who does these puzzles. Or maybe have two difficulties and let players choose. I love the idea of these and will do the next one in the hope that it's better but if it's also easy I won't do any in the future.

The events are an excellent choice

The events are an excellent choice for spending time with family and friends and get to have everyone involved, we already took part in 3 events (The Smurfs, Beauty and the Beast and Witchcraft and Wizardry murder by magic) and everyone loved it.
After the first experience we took time and all dressed up according to the team, we discovered and loved the AR photos and we'll definitely book another event and recommend it to friends and family.

Awful experience with them in Miami

Awful experience with them in Miami. They double booked with another event so half the game could not be completed (the last half) because it was a section that was blocked off. They refused to give me a refund as well. Drove all the way down from Hollywood with our kids and it was a bust! I will never do it again or anythign sponsored on Instagram.

We did clued up! A waste of time and money

We did clued up. It was a disaster. Clearly the event planners did not do their research and wanted to send 6 ladies in very unsafe areas. Thank goodness we had the sense to not participate. Others groups agreed. I tried to call to express my concerns and could not find a number. A complete waste if time and money!!!!

Great family experience…

We had a wonderful time in their Witchcraft and Wizardry Murder by Magic event. My family enjoyed walking through the city blocks to unlock the new parts of the mystery and solving the case. Well developed story and fun mini games on the phone. Would highly recommend. My group included my husband and I, and three sons (ages 12, 10, and 8). We all enjoyed it. They also have great customer service with quick response times.

Really terrible, would not recommend at all

May as well stay home and play a clue solving game on video game or a board game and would be more fun. 2 x 9 year olds very disappointed. Don't expect any markers, decorations or scenery of any kind or any characters to be dressed up from the company. Not even so much as someone at the start to meet and greet. It is you and your phone and that's it! The whole route map is outside in the streets, very random, not stopping at anywhere of significance or going inside any buildings or shops or anything. Goes ahead in all weather so you won't get a refund if it's pouring down on the day. Thankfully it was dry when we went but we abandoned it within 15 minutes when it became very apparent it was awful and waste of money and the children were thoroughly bored. The best bit was wearing fancy dress we arranged ourselves independently. Avoid.

Great concept just the instructions are not clear to start with

Unfortunately I found this difficult to follow as a first time attempt. We do not feel the instructions were very clear nor how to use the app and what to do. I didn't know the time limit for submitting photos was the same as finishing the game itself or that they were to be put on a public forum on Facebook! I cannot do that with children in the photos. I thought it would be somewhere to message them through or it would be a private page at least, not the event page itself. I saw the winners photos earlier following the link in the email, and they have images from the characters in the app in their photos. Do you take photos while in the game itself or regular photos and submit them? Is that how everything is submitted in time because it's all through the app? The only thing I knew of was you can attach a group photo of your team to go with the name. Some of the spots were in car parks and one had me needing to walk into the street before it would pick it up. Like literally in the middle of a lane on the road! We had children with us! It says family, children free so it should be reasonably child friendly not here wait there while you watch me run into the road where cars go.
It was far too much to try to figure out while having to look at a screen, retain facts, read odd things and keep an eye on traffic, public people (that were not interrupting them or they're not a concern to us), ensure children are ok and still with us etc. Plus still be finding things out after it's all done and dusted. Oh and that we can't even check over anything once it's solved. We couldn't go back and look at anything at all the moment it was finished.
Before receiving the before event emails, I initially thought there would be a stand or tent in the square where you could go to start from and you have to find things. I was thinking pen and paper, going to areas to find an actual physical place mark. An actual event.. seeing people and themes etc. really get the feel for it and get into it
I totally do get why it's an app, the extra information and whatnot is much easier to access. Personally I think an area where at least a little stand and someone was there would make it much easier. Things happen like it wouldn't unpause and said I had to go "here" to unpause it when I'd been nowhere near that area when I did pause it. We had stopped at the public toilets where I paused it while the children went in. When they were done, I tried to unpause it but no I can't, I was going to get another penalty unless I went to some random spot I was nowhere near previously. Speaking of the penalties, I get it but we got many in the beginning yet have no idea why, that in the end when we found the unpause spot, we just sat down and accepted the penalties to just finish it plus everyone was getting quite over it so it was loosing all it's appeal.

I think it could be really enjoyable if it hadn't felt so overwhelming. I had been overly anxious about trying it out initially but the email made it sound so simple. I get I'm not the best with technology and I accept that someone who is tech savvy wouldn't have struggled like I did but it wasn't just me that was getting confused. I know I am more likely to make mistakes and not understand technology so I had people on the team that did understand technology yet they were also confused and said it definitely couldn't have been explained a lot better. They had been looking at the events for quite some time too and were interested but not wanting to try it alone either so it's not like they hadn't heard of it or not read anything about the events on the site. Again, if someone was there who knew all the ins and outs, this could have been easily sorted right from the beginning and been enjoyable not stressful. I know there was an email address and we could have tried that but again, it was getting very overwhelming. The younger kids could have had their own devices to look through if I'd known you could do stuff like that. There was nothing different to look at besides the map and clues on the screen. If there's camera work through the app then that would be so much better ! Why are these bits not put in the emails at the very least but honestly, in the write up for the game itself.
I'm not sure if we'd try it again, at least not any time soon. We were thinking about the CSI one in a few months but now not so sure we will be trying that.
I get the appeal for the weekend but during a weekday would be great too haha I doubt that but just an idea lol
