Excellent customer service
My experience with the CluedUpp Games customer support was exemplary. They were able to exchange my event tickets for coupons at the very last minute, and they did it with a gracious and friendly attitude. I'm looking forward to taking part in more of their activities, and I have lots of ideas for using their community treasure hunt-type mystery games as part of a larger themed event.
Defective Detectives solved the case! (Eventually!)
First CluedUpp experience for us and absolutely loved it! It took us (4 adults, one child) 3.5 hours to complete the CSI game and I was pleased that it wasn’t all over within a short time. Given the game is created out of the UK, we were impressed with the accuracy of the Auckland location on the map and points of interest. The solo and team challenges were great fun too. Our child solved a couple on her own when the adults were clueless! We also didn’t figure it out until the very end so our guesses (killer/motive) kept changing. Was a great day out, excellent value for money and we will most definitely be doing another one! Without giving any spoilers, as much as we enjoyed the game, the one thing (and only thing) that could have been better was the motive. Especially given there were so many plausible motives for the killer. Regardless, I cannot recommended this event enough!!!
Loved playing
Loved playing the wizards game in St. George, UT. The only suggestion I would give would be to add voice readings to the clues. It would be nice to hear a narrators voice instead of reading everything. I think it would help with the experience. Thank you and we will be doing another one hopefully soon
Multiple events and love it!
We have done 3 different events so far and they all have been great! I love that we can get out and be active while trying to solve puzzles. It’s physically and mentally stimulating, plus we get to see things that we may not have seen before while we explore. Great time for the whole family!
Definitely Not what I thought is was
It’s supposed to be an exploratory game based on your city but other than physically having to run around the city it had almost nothing to do with it. I think all of 2 clues were based on local landmarks or information. Everything else was just mini games in the app and a majority of those games could only be played by the leader. The only thing having to do with the city was you had to show up at a particular location to get the next clue or talk to the next person (in the app). The majority of the game is dialogue and it gets monotonous. If you’re looking for an excuse to run around a city and play on your phone (like Pokémon go) this is the game for you. If you’d actually like to be challenged and pick up clues from your surroundings find something else. Except for the GPS part of it I could have played this in my living room and would have never known the difference.
Firtst Timers
As first timers, we were apprehensive but needn't have been. We all had a great day out - Only downside, we are not tech geniuses so it took us a while to wield our way around, but I am sure the more we do the better we will get. It was something different and we thoroughly enjoyed out experience. Definitely something we will recommend and do again
This is my experience back in 2021
This is my experience back in 2021. Perhaps it has gotten better now. Interesting thing to note is that I posted a 1 star review back then which cluedupp flagged to Trustpilot as being “harmful or illegal” and it was taken down. This how trust pilot has such a high rating for Cluedupp because obviously anything less than 4 or 5 stars is taken down! My original review was definitely not harmful or illegal from any equal opportunity perspective. The only way that it could have been considered harmful would be that others might read the review and as such might think twice about joining one of these “immersive experiences”. Honestly, if you want to spend more time on your phone staring at a screen even when you are outdoors then go ahead and take part in a Cluedupp games experience. It would suit the Pokémon types but for anyone else why bother? It just spoils a good walk and the “immersive experience” is anything but. One of the most boring things I had done in a long time.
Did CSI In Nelson
Did CSI In Nelson, was just following Google maps all day and reading the story in each room. Was extremely boring and pulled out during the event. Wasn't what I expected at all. Not worth the money.
CSI not worth it if you pay full price…
CSI not worth it if you pay full price for using an app. too much reading, no interactions with anyone
My girls loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
On Saturday my daughters 35&39 years old completed the event, CSI crime murder investigation in Nottingham. I bought it for my youngest daughter (35) as a birthday present she loves doing murder mystery. This was the first time I had booked with Clued Upp, but it won’t be the last! My girls loved every minute of the event. So much so my eldest daughter has booked the Smurf one for her and her sons to do at Easter. I’m so pleased they enjoyed it. They said everything was really well organised & professional Thank you. 🤩
Booked this Detective game before…
Booked this Detective game before reading the reviews. We expected there to be visual clues but it was basically like using google maps on your phone to walk to the next point. Not even at any specific places, you just walked round and the phone would say you reached the next clue, this seemed to be basically the same over and over again. It gave you a bit more dialog on the phone every time. Two of our parties phones would not let them join the game it just said loading and after an hour we got bored and pretended the children had to find actual things that we could physically see and let them use our google maps to walk around. I am sure some people would enjoy it but it wasn’t for us and a long way to travel to just use our phones.
Wandering aimlessly in the cold
Wandering aimlessly in the cold. No thanks.
Highly Recommend
I have been involved in two of the CluedUpp Games (Alice in Wonderland and Witchcraft & Wizardry) with my family and we have all enjoyed the experience immensely
I have also had to move an event and have found that the service provided in facilitating a move has been excellent
Highly recommend these adventures
We had an absolute blast on our first
We had an absolute blast on our first, and definitely not last scavenger game! We loved the interactive games at incredibly awesome/historical sites. We learned more about our city and what makes it special by also dabbing in the wizard and witch craft world we love :). Great job making a family friendly event. Also it was super cool to see
Other people dressing up too!
The games are a lot of fun but has room for improvement.
The games are a lot of fun. This past weekend I just did my fifth game with CluedUpp. I have yet to make a review of any of the games. But after things we encountered while playing this game, I figured it was time to make a comment. First of all when the date of this game was determined. Whoever picked the date for the town did not plan ahead and look to see what other events were taking place in that same area. There were multiple events the same day which we did this event. Which made parking very hard and very expensive. Cost us $76 to park to participate in this game. If I would’ve known that before heading out to do the game we would’ve canceled doing it. Also I think the game needs to some sort of counter that let you know that you are 25% done with the game or 50% done with the game or 100% done with the game that way at least you know how to judge your time and plan accordingly This last CSI game that we did. Was almost double the amount of time and activities than any other game.
CSI, Windsor. Huge disappointment.
Did CSI in Windsor with 12 people. Really disappointing/confusing app that even bright young people couldn’t fathom. Not intuitive at all. We met plenty of others trying the same thing and they were equally disappointed. We abandoned and went to the pub!!
Cluedupp Games CSI experience
We had a team of 4 and we did the CSI event. It was awesome once we got the hang of it. Great way to spend a day and solve a mystery.
Things to know/do- if it is first time I highly recommend the tutorial. There is a LOT of walking(miles). Wear comfortable shoes and bring a small back or fanny pack for water.
Make sure your phone is charged!
Not was I was expecting at all !
Not what I was expecting at all ! Did the CSI one .. You just walk around the streets following an orange dot the gps on a map that’s not easy to follow and things pop up . Pretty clueless of how to play on the app or what to expect especially at the starting point the people we see looked confused as us . Was expecting people from maybe the company dressed up or visual clues along the way to help but was just an online app game definitely not immersive . We become very bored quickly like a few groups we saw along the way like us not knowing what to do so just gave up and went somewhere else. For someone interested in this kind of thing this was dis engaging and underwhelming so won’t be booking again ! Price wise wasn’t very expensive so not overally bothered.
Really excited to try this out
Really excited to try this out. Customer service has been great so far. This is for a birthday celebration- trying something new! Great instructions and advice so far.
High hopes, but big disappointment
We signed up for their witches and wizard event and were very disappointed at the dark turn it took diving into the realm of demons. I get it’s a murder mystery and you’re talking about good vs evil, but it just felt very dark. We quit about 30-40 minutes in because we didn’t feel right continuing with kiddos. It was especially disappointing because it’s a “Harry Potter” theme without saying it is (trademark issues likely) and no where does HP dive into the demon world. We were so excited to do something fun with the theme because we are big HP fans, but it was just a really big turn off. I can’t say if that became a bigger part of the event because, again, we felt like we should not continue. It’s a really neat concept, but I just wish that something that felt like it could be family friendly took such a dark turn. I’m hesitant to try again even with familiar/innocent seeming themes because I cannot trust the creators to stay within a theme’s general thematic elements.
