A co-operative (co-op) is a different kind of business. Our Co-op is owned by individual members and other co-ops, not big investors, and our members get a chance to have a say in how we’re run. Profits mean members receive money, rewards and offers and a co-op can support its local community.

Terrible

Terrible.
Fridges broken but still charging the public over £2 for fermenting salad.
Extremely rude staff treat you like dirt.

The most incompetent retailer in the UK

Possibly the most incompetent retailer in the UK. Three weeks ago I took advantage of a members' offer. I didn't want to pay for delivery as the shop is only 300m from my house and I was going that way anyway. I got there and my order was sitting on the counter but they refused to give it to me because they "only do delivery".
I complained and head office said they would sort it out.
So today I tried again and the same thing happened. That's about £40-worth of perishables that will end up in the bin because the staff don't understand the concept of collection.

I found a dead fly in the bread

I found a dead fly in the bread that I had bought that was fully sealed. Within 24 hours the co op apologised and refunded the bread of £2.64. Really appreciated the quick customer service and apology!

EXCELLENT SERVICE

A journalist, I read papers every day.

The Coop at Childs Hill in London proves the only shop near my home that accepts the Guardian and Observer subscription card.

It, moreover, accepts subscription vouchers from me for the i, besides the Times and Sunday Times.

I find all the staff friendly and helpful, led by the manager, Harshad,

Bradwell Coop. Avoid!

Bradwell Coop, Newcastle-under-Lyme. Looks like they've given up with customer service altogether now. Without exception the staff pay more attention to picking online orders and ignore customers waiting to spend money at the till.

Often there is no one on the till and you're made to feel guilty for bringing a staff member off filling up shelves or racing to sort a delieroo order.

Sad to think that they bang on about giving profits to good causes and forget what the Rochdale Pioneers set it up for in the first place: provilding hard up locals with cheap food. Now they charge sky high prices and give profits to good causes to claim a moral high ground.

I'm sure 99% of thier long suffering customers would prefer lower prices and someone at the till when they choose to spend thier hard earned cash in this joke of a store.

The coop on kings road is a disgrace.
To avoid upset, instead of going there, i will order basic heavy items online & go to Waitrose for fresh food & fruit.

An utter disgrace.

The home shopping system has been failing for weeks now. Last week a missed delivery and now tonight I went in to doa small home delivery food order and they took the money from my bank account and said that the payment had failed. So they have left me without food order the money to buy food until the bank releases the hold in seven days. Leaving me, a disabled person,in hardship.

Where's my refunds??

Working from home and can't leave the house. Placed an order in the morning, order cancelled without any reason given, so I have no groceries. No contact with me to explain why. Subsequent order placed the next day, again cancelled, no reason given so I'm now two days without groceries. Refund should have been processed within 3-5 working days, no sign of it. Nearly £100 pounds taken all in and no refunds yet.
Appalling.

The worst customer service I have ever…

The worst customer service I have ever experienced after most of a small online shop wasn't delivered by the driver( two bags left at the shop)
I am a regular customer but will no longer be using them.
The website is an absolute nightmare and needs a serious upgrade.
Staff on messenger chat find it acceptable to disappear mid conversation without warning(presumabley because it was 5pm) and the conversation wasn't picked up again until nearly 11am tge next day. When asked for a specific piece of information about accessibility, the operative felt it appropriate to send the terms and conditions, which I considered extremely rude.

Numerous orders with items missing from WESTERN ROAD

Numerous orders with items missing from Co-Op on Western Road, Brighton in food delvieries, time and time again, a refusal of "customer services" (bots and outsourced to India) to refund when clear photographic evidence shows the store sent a cheaper, incorrect inferior item but charged full price, and NO permission given during checkout to substitute with "CANCEL ENTIRE ORDER IF UNAVAILABLE" completely ignored.

Today two tubs of expensive BEN AND JERRYS not in the bag, and the specific order of "CANCEL ENTIRE ORDER IF UNAVAILABLE" ignored.
So not only did they not cancel the order, the charged full price despite knowing they had nothing in stock and made no attempt to refund.

Only last week we had ANOTHER half an order turn up, 4 cans of missing beer, charged for 8, missing large Cadbury bar, missing burgers but sent the buns.. These people are THIEVES AND FRAUDSTERS.

Co-Op on Western Road, Brighton are only picking half orders and somehow think they can steal from customers because they are not in the store at that moment to fight back the thieves?

Deliveroo refused to compensate for it despite being half the order down with the most expensive parts (alcohol) not present. We're talking over 50% of the entire order cost, not arriving. This is CLEAR THEFT. The only winner is CO-OP 130 WESTERN ROAD BRIGHTON BN3 1DA

No alternative but to create a chargeback with my bank for the two entire orders they refused to refund the missing items, and chargeback of the premium subscription.

Do not give your money to these corporate backstabbing thieves.

The company should be denied access to British consumers and anyone in the UK as we would remove any criminal from the general population for being a danger to the public.
THE PEOPLE RUNNING THE COMPANY ARE FRAUDSTERS AND THEIR STAFF ARE COMMON THIVES.

A single customer service failure today, directly damages your brand's reputation and diminishes customer lifetime value. Unresolved issues

Emailed the CEO

CEO

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service that id received at one of your stores, that has a fuel station. 21.06.26 at 08.00 am.

Address: CO-OP Supermarket
Bridge Street Knighton
Powys
LD7 1BL

Im disappointed with the way that Id been spoken to in the process of refuelling my vehicle! and feel that it does not meet the standards that I expected from your company.

The staff member concerned, Niki approached me explaining that she was unable to serve me in the fuel purchase, then proceeded to say that they have camera recognition at the station? And their system/ Database says that they’re unable to complete the transaction of fuel purchase as the camera scanned number plate? I’m a Texaco rewards Customer! The staff member in question is Disingenuous and has a total disregard for a person such as myself not far off pension age.

I’ve been driving 36 years and never come across such a charade! I’ve travelled the world and resided in some of these countries, but never had this issue, it’s the first time that I’d visited that supermarket/ petrol station.

I had to adapt to unforeseen circumstances thinking of the nearest fuel station! when my tank was virtually empty.

I would like to request that specific action be taken in such circumstances! as I believe that this would be a fair resolution to the problem.
I hope that you will take my concerns seriously and work to resolve this issue promptly.
As a long-standing customer of your company for over 40 years and value our relationship and would like to continue doing business with you in the future.

I know your corporation is under direct pressure especially after the hack, but it’s the customer base that helps you succeed.

This situation with your outlet has infuriated me, it’s having the ability to make changes, and you have the position to do that being, CEO.

Your faithfully

I have had so many negative experiences…

I ha e had so many negative experiences with co-op that I now give up from broken items to mouldy food. Their selling antics are disgusting they always add money to your bill for replacement items (even though I dont want a replacement) and give 3 for 2 offers to only send 2 changing the price to avoid giving the discount.
The online delivery contact service is ridiculous and needs staff that can apply logic to their answers.
A small but FINAL straw, thanks Jacqueline I will be cancelling my account .
Pathetic.

Increased food by over a pound

Their prices in This shop are atrociously high. They have increased the price of 12 eggs to over three pounds and added a pound more to nearly every item.

They really don't care about their customers at all..quite a selfish food company..

Abysmal service for their online…

Abysmal service for their online delivery.

I have used the coop many times for last minute items. It hasn't been a perfect service, things have been missing on a number of occasions and I have never had a refund to date ( I now have to open the shopping up in front of the delivery driver to check everything is there).
Today I book a 10am to 12pm slot at 8am this morning. The shopping was picked at 9.10am according to the email I received.
I am going away today and I ordered some last minute bits for my trip.
At 12.10pm I phoned to find out where my order is...
They cannot tell me where it is because it's riding around with the delivery driver who has 15 deliveries which apparently is too many to handle is somewhere ( no one actually knows where according to the coop).
I cannot get a refund as the shopping is our for delivery and they cannot give me a location and how long I have to wait.
This has now made my whole party late too.
I am in the next village application 15 minutes away and my shopping was picked at 9am!!! They didn't think to call at 10am when they realised they had too many deliveries to give me the option of cancelling and getting the shopping elsewhere. No that would have been far too sensible.
They cannot be less bothered. Well..
You have lost a loyal and longstanding customer today.

I visited my local co op in Barking…

I visited my local co op in Barking Riverside two nights ago to buy wine. The time was 10.05pm, the shop opening hours are 7am-11pm. I was told by a worker that I can’t buy alcohol this late because the self check out doesn’t work after 10pm. I asked ok is this a new rule? He says well you can go and try it, but it won’t work, In a sarcastic manner. There were works going on, on the non-self checkout tills, which I appreciate. At no point did the worker say: I apologise there is renovation going on with the non checkout tills. As the self-checkout tills don’t work after 10pm, unfortunately you cannot buy alcohol at the moment. We are sorry for the inconvenience. This would have been the right way to speak to a customer. In an area where there are no amenities as it is, this is a poor example of treating a regular customer.

Advertising Guinness at £6.09 for 4…

Advertising Guinness at £6.09 for 4 when ordering I actually paid £8.70 for the 4 cans through deliveroo, there's no way to check until you've been charged and get your receipt, this apparently is a regular occurrence with the coop.
