A co-operative (co-op) is a different kind of business. Our Co-op is owned by individual members and other co-ops, not big investors, and our members get a chance to have a say in how we’re run. Profits mean members receive money, rewards and offers and a co-op can support its local community.

If I could give it no stars then i would. Ordered a bottle of rum as friends were over for Bank Holiday, the courier arrived and placed the bags of groceries inside kitchen door and left on checking the rum was missing and the seal on bag tampered with, four days on the co-op have still refused a refund and it is constant interrogation, the staff may have not placed it in bag or it was removed from the bag before delivery. Avoid if you can at all costs, items are nearly always missing, the sell by dates are not good and I feel they have stolen money and i have not recieved the goods or a refund but have outlined this to my bank.Update recieved a reply 4 days after telling them they wouldn't refund as i had not kept the brown paper bag my shopping was sent in,yet i had to open it fully to access the rest of my shopping and proceeded to place the bag in recycling which was collected by the bin men two days after my initial request to the co-op who had made no contact in that time frame! But what proof is a bag? Imagine if they are doing this to so many customers a day how much the co-op are gaining weekly out of other people's bank accounts. Will never use again and reporting to the Ombudsman.

Went to two co-op stores to get my lunch for today & both of them had nothing at all when yesterday the shelves were rammed. I think that co-op is pulling a trick & I won't be going there again because they have ruined my day as all other shops are miles away from my location & the traffic in Shrewsbury is horrendous at the best of times. I have also wasted loads of fuel trying to find something to eat.

What is going on with the co-op n Bognor

What is going on with the co-op in Bognor, Chichester Road? People queuing at the tills, and the evening staff just give them a look, ignore them, and continue putting things on shelves. Hey, without us, there is no point in filling the shelves. Evening staff are so different from the helpful, good customer service that the morning staff provides. Well, I know, if you don't like it: go somewhere else. I will, as I did after walking out this evening. Lots of other shops are happy to take my money.

Insulted by Co-op Security Guard

On May 22, 2026 I have purchased flowers from Aldi and placed them in my shopping bag. I then briefly entered the Co-op store at 467-463 London rd, Westcliff-on-sea SS0 9LG but didn't make any purchase. After leaving around 5.30 pm and walking a short distance down the street, I was stopped by a man who demanded to search my bag.

When I questioned his authority, he identified himself as a Co-op security guard and claimed that he had all rights to search me. He was very rude, arrogant and insulting. He proceeded to falsely accuse me of theft in public, despite no evidence and no alarm being triggered when I left the store.

All this took place in the street in the front of total strangers, causing embarrassment and distress. Finally, I showed him my flowers and receipt from Aldi to justify myself, confirming that I didn't take anything from your store. He turned around and walked away without even an apology!

This conduct is humiliating, disrespectful and unacceptable, and this matter requires review and appropriate action.

I did an online order on the 25th of May. I ordered some ham for a picnic that we are taking my Grandson on, on Saturday, which will be the 29th. When it came it had the 25th on it, so it would have to be used straight away. I also ordered a bag of lettuce, which also had the 25th on, and was going brown and wiltered. I ordered two boxes of eggs, too which I only received one, but was charged for both. I've contacted the coop, but still no reply. I tried to talk to someone in person, and they said they would send me the link to make my complaint. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but I'm sure they can change your order. I definitely put in two boxes of eggs, which they charged me for, but I checked back on my order and it says one box. So if you're missing items, check your order and add it up and see if it has charged you for them.

Used the coop at Stockton brook for years last couple of times at the tills there is a massive screen on every till plus other equipment that is in the way for self scan when all you want to do is pay cash to a cashier and retrieve the goods which is now virtually impossible. I will never use self scan anywhere because I don’t work for coop like all the other sheep that use this scanner
Really put off going in now probably use Morrisons down the road instead

Co-op Food no longer benefits members.

Co-op Food was established for the benefit of members and the general public. Providing quality foods at reasonable prices. However, they are no different to any other major chain. Why do they have limited offers which you have to self select limited time offers rather than genuine discounted prices throughout the whole range which are applied when you use their store cards. This would be more true to the founders original principles and provide community value.

All I wanted to do was order some food…

All I wanted to do was order some food to collect.
45 minutes later,I’ve given up.
It repeatedly asked me to sign in,though I was already signed in.
It’s far and away the worst website and app I’ve yet dealt with in my long life.
It would be quicker for me to find a chicken on the loose and kill it than to use the co op.
(Slight exaggeration,but only slight).

My personal data was published online…

My personal data was published online as a result of the 2025 data breach. Because I am on the closed electoral register, according to the GDPR legislation, I must be paid compensation. When I phoned Coop a representative of head office, who should know better, refused to listen to me and tried to shout me down. I can't believe that an organisation like Coop would operate illegally in this way.

How is this outfit still in business?

Paid for an order that didn't turn up last January, so emailed them the same day. Received a holding email to say to bear with them as they had a backlog.

After months of false promises to sort it out, promised callbacks that never happened, sending information to "prove what I was saying", being passed about etc I finally received an email back from 'Leon' today. This bright spark of the Co-op told me that the order had been delivered and that if I had any questions I could reply to the email- it's a no reply email address, or give them a ring 'on the number above- there wasn't one.

My patience was then exhausted, so I called them and, after two incidents where I was put on hold for ages and then cut off, I spoke to someone. I explained that if they didn't sort this out today that I would go into the Co-op and help myself to goods to the value of. It was only after this that this refund was processed.

I asked for a goodwill gesture to reflect the cost of all the phone calls, the frustration & the hours of wasted time. This was refused.

Never again.

Online shocker!

I love the co op, the local store staff are great, but my experience with the delivery service and the co op help service is soo bad I'm lost for words. The app is so bad, the basket does not empty once payment has been made, making it possible to order identical orders, there is no easy way to contact the delivery team (quicker than three days response time), the drivers can't return the goods, and if you accept them, because there is no alternative, you have no recourse. The help centre when they respond, 2 days after the delivery say to get in touch if you still have an issue, but do so through a no reply email... When you phone to complain, they speak over you, say they can't help because the goods were accepted, put you on hold when you get justifiably annoyed and ultimately hang up!! To say I am annoyed is an understatement.

Heathfield Co-op is the most unfriendly place I have ever visited

When I visit the Co-op in Heathfield, I notice that the people that work there are the most unfriendly, unsmiling bunch of people that I have ever met. They are not interested in saying hello to customers, helping them find things, or even giving eye contact. They look like they just don't want to be there doing the job. I find it depressing even to go in there
