I learnt a lot more about craft chocolate. Our presenter was very informative and funny. I would have liked some coloured slides to help understand what chocolate is, how it grows and what countries... See more

Amazing tasting session!
Amazing tasting session!
Spencer was an incredible host who is unbelievably knowledgeable about chocolate. Can't wait to get my first subscription box.
Cocoa Runners Virtual tasting
We took part in the Cocoa Runners Virtual tasting. I've realised chocolate can have such a fruity interesting taste and normal chocolate even what I thought was posh chocolate like Tony's or green and blacks really doesn't taste of much in comparison to the varieties we tried in the cocoa runner's chocolate tasting. My advice is but the family sized box even if there is only one of you as you won't regret it. The online experience was such fun, it was fascinating and enlightening and such good value. Well done Cocoa Runners!
We really enjoyed our virtual chocolate…
We really enjoyed our virtual chocolate tasting, so much so we’re recommending it to friends and family. It was so interesting hearing about the history of chocolate, how it’s made, and how it’s bound up with exploitation of farmers and the environment. But it wasn’t all doom and gloom - Spencer was a great host and an excellent speaker, and he made it fun as well. And it was good to know that craft chocolate is produced in an ethical way. And we got to sample lots of different chocolate and experience the different flavours, which was amazing and unexpected. So I’ve ordered my first batch, I think I’m hooked. Thank you Spencer for a great experience!
Terrible experience - cannot amend/cancel on their site BEWARE
Terrible experience.
First of all it takes days to hear back from customer service, when (having) to email them in order to amend a subscription or cancel you get the generic reply 'We're currently experiencing an increasing number of support requests across email and our phone lines' where the truth is 'we force customers to email us to amend & cancel subscriptions whilst also not hiring enough staff'.
So I accidentally made my subscription 100% cocoa, fair enough, my mistake.
The problem came when I attempted to modify my subscription from 100% cocoa to a mix of dark & milk chocolate.
I couldn't amend my order from my account on their site, I had to email them then wait days for a reply.
I was then told that my subscription cannot be changed, despite not being shipped for at least another 10 days.
So my order is sitting with them, and they refuse to change it to what I want - so in 10-11 days I'll receive chocolate I do not want & they refuse to do anything about it.
On top of this, when you place a subscription, they do not send it out right away unlike almost every other subscription service out there.
They make you wait weeks to receive your chocolate.
Lots of other small issues I have with the ordering process too, but I don't want this review to become too long.
Which company's force you to email (and wait days) to amend an order or cancel a subscription? It's the most basic feature of a website, then they have the nerve to say they cannot reply quickly because of the volume of emails.. well maybe if you had an order modification and cancel feature on your site you wouldn't receive so many emails! It's such a shoddy way to conduct business, I really dislike it.
All in all, a terrible experience & I'm not the type of person to bother leaving reviews but I'm that angry I felt compelled to.
Poor customer service/experience
Very disappointed in service and customer service response. Signed up for a subscription. First month was fine, all received. Second month just received 4 random bars of chocolate in a parcel not gift box like the first month, no tasting notes. Queried this and was emailed tasitng notes yet found 3 of the bars I was supposed have received had been replaced so tasting notes useless. Chocolate is fine as you would expect, some you prefer to others, some good, some not great, all expensive, but no different to other craft chocolate but the service is terrible. No point to the subscription service you may as well just order what you what whenever. You don't get the storage bag, tasting notes or gift box after the first month either so sign up for one month then cancel as no point after that. No apologies for 3 substitutions and never received corrected tasting notes.
It was a lovely and informative day
It was a lovely and informative day. Just learning how to better eat and taste chocolate made the visit worthwhile. The speakers were informative and entertaining (wine and chocolate!). A great day.
The chocolate is excellent, customer service terrible
The chocolate is excellent, however, customer service is shocking. I have emailed several times to ask for assistance in choosing the right chocolate for me. I have not had any reply at all. The chocolate is expensive and I have now wasted £20 on 2 bars that I could have avoided if I had of had a reply and advice. I’m really disappointed.
Choc-fest!
Exceptional evening. Relaxed, enjoyable and super-informative.
Wrappers covered in ugly stickers
These are very expensive chocolates, in a beautiful wrappers. I bought a selection for a person who would appreciate both taste and art on the covers. However, when the order arrived, the art on the cover was covered by stickers saying "Selected and distributed by Cocoarunners". Stickers were not removable, and the look of the chocolate bars was ruined! Not sure I can still give them as gift - they look like some kind of free samples, not like expensive exquisite chocolates they should be. There was no warnings about the stickers I called and emailed the company to complain - but sadly to reply from their Customer Services yet. I would not recommend buying from them, unless you are happy with the stickers, and not bothered about how the chocolate looks.
Incredible selection of real chocolate!
Incredible selection of craft (i.e. actual) chocolate, available in a great subscription form as well, plus courses and great content, newsletters etc. Totally recommended!
I’d go again
Loads of fun, really informative and some amazing chocolate
Brilliant: learned a lot and tasted wonderful chocolate!
This was a really wonderful event. Spencer is so knowledgeable and communicated so well. I learned a huge amount and got to try some delicious chocolate and really explore different tastes. I have found some new favourite chocolate makers and bars. Thank you for a great evening Spencer and team.
Tasting review
It was informative, interesting, fun and above all tasty.
Excellent chocolate
Excellent chocolate, mostly delivered smoothly and quickly. The quality of chocolate is really high and I'm very glad that I found cocoa runners and discovered so many great chocolate bars. The (Menakao) chocolate for baking is very good too. I have some slight gripes - sometimes bars have a shorter date than I'd expect; searching the website is a bit cumbersome; the label they stick on everything can slightly ruin the aesthetic of bars you buy as gifts (and in some cases they've stuck the label in a way that obscured allergen information). Occasionally you get sent the wrong bar. Twice (out of a large number of orders to be fair) I've been sent the wrong Tosier bar, but they always sorted it out and sent me the missing bar - and gave me the extra bars wrongly delivered for free so it's good customer service (if only I liked the coffee bar they sent by mistake!). Overall happy.
Excellent tasting session
Excellent tasting session - Spencer is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming - we had a great time trying the different chocolates and wines. A must do!
Craft Chocolate Tasting
Many thanks for sending the photos and info over, and for the fantastic, informative tasting session; everyone really enjoyed themselves!
Amazing team bonding experience!
Amazing team bonding experience!
We booked a session with Cocoa Runners, and they far exceed what we expected from a Chocolate Tasting. We learned so much just about the history of cocoa and current state of the world of Chocolate, including the economics of cocoa.
We're a team based across 3 separate continents, and our ordering experience was smooth! Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, 1.5Hr experience with their teams.
Tasteful, memorable and entertaining!
What a fascinating journey into the world of flavour and chocolate at a tasting session. Not to mention - Spencer is a storyteller par excellence - his witty talk track made the evening ever so more enjoyable.
Can't wait to get stuck into more of their curated chocolate collections from around the world!
Excellent!
I attended one of the in-person tasting session and loved it, learned so much and would thoroughly recommend. Not only will you try delicious craft chocolate, you will learn so much - from genetics, to ethics and you may even discover you are a supertaster!
Excellent
I have now attended two tastings and had a great time at both. The host is both informative and entertaining. I learn so much each time I attend.
