Lack of communication and empathy

Claim took too long to process. Lack of feedback along the way. I had to keep calling for feedback and the only response was "I don't know when it will be completed". Wasn't even assigned to call handler for 5 weeks. Raised internal complaint which was upheld. The same day I received the complaint email, my claim was processed and approved. Payment 2 days later.

Medical cancellation claim

My claim for medical cancellation from initial contact, requesting supporting evidence and assessment to payment was efficiently managed.

Only criticism is that the medical claim form requires completion by a general medical practitioner and specifically NOT a hospital consultant. This is not relevant where claimant is under the management of a hospital consultant. I suggest that to save unnecessary communication that this is modified.

Trying to make a claim overseas

Trying to make a claim overseas? Forget it! Despite all the claims that you can do it 'quickly and easily' on the website, the Post Office Claims website interface is absolutely useless. First of all, it's run by a separate company Collinson which isn't made clear when you buy a policy. I logged into my PO Travel Insurance account, but was sent to a separate website to make a claim. My login (saved on my laptop and used to log into my account) didnt work, and when I asked several times to reset the password, the link didnt arrive. No, it was not in my junk mail.. plus, the PO main website doesn't even have my account details, address or password info stored - if you click anywhere on it, it throws you out into the main menu. An absolute disaster..

My SAGA escort liaised very efficiently…

My SAGA escort liaised very efficiently with the Insurance company who made all hospital, transport and accommodation arrangements. I was well looked after and accompanied right back to my home by a lovely doctor.

Very poor service

1.Repatriation delayed by 4 days after 4 days of broken promises. Derisory compensation paid eventually.
12 days in Spanish hospital of which4 were unnecessary.

2.Simple arithmetical error in curtailment compensation.

Great experience

I really can’t fault Saga and Collinson. Due to an unforeseen health issue I had to cancel a recent holiday at short notice. The process of submitting a claim was very straightforward. I received notification that my claim had been successful within 6 days. It was a very efficient easy service. Thankyou

Excellent service …

Never having made a claim before I was unsure what to expect - I decided to ring so that I could speak to someone to make sure I did it right - they were patient and explained exactly what was needed - I submitted my claim and literally received my money within 4 hours - very impressive

Getting a refund

We booked an airport lounge for a return to uk from Tenerife but were advised by our airline to cancel due to issues at passport control. I cancelled 48 hours before the due flight as per terms and conditions. however despite repeated emails requesting my refund and replies apologising for the delays, I did not receive my £52 until 20 May 26

Persist in rejecting valid claims by referring to a different section of a policy.

These (cow)boys act as claims processors for post office travel insurance. My initial experience with them was not bad, though lengthy, when claimed for cancellation of my upcoming holiday, as a result of hospitalisation due to an accident whilst travelling which resulted in a spinal injury. The initial claim was paid out, however then it was pointed out to me that I was also travelling at the time, and now being partially disabled, I have a claim under personal accident section of that same policy.

Here is where things went wrong and where they are still refusing to accept the claim, because persist in refusing it under a completely different section of the policy, medical expense… I am NOT claiming for medical expenses. I am cla8ming for permanent partial disablement.. so now running out of options. I have to take legal advice. Appalled

Do not respond and delay payments

Do not respond and delay payments. After 6 weeks they have only part paid my claims, after several phone calls and one out of three service reps whom I contacted actually pursuing my case - the others told me I'd have to wait and/or make a complaint. For example I sent 3 claims for consultant and physio expenses after a ski accident and they've only paid one with no communication as to why they have not paid the other, older expenses. Will never use them again and will advise fellow skiers and family to do the same
