Avoid at all costs.

I initially applied to be a subtitler, but in my first interview I was informed they were interested in having me in a sales position. I had two interviews, in both of which the CEO was gushing about how it's a close-knit family business. In both interviews, there was a strong focus on my contacts in the industry, which they were keen to know about, and not as much about what the job would entail.

I was asked my salary expectations, but the salary offered was a lot, lot lower. When I eventually got the contract, with the hours expected to be working (09:00-19:00, Mon-Fri), the salary was well below the national minimum wage in the UK, let alone the now commonly used national living wage. This was justified by the CEO with claims of "personal development" and "top class training", which are the usual ways for companies to justify exploitation. There was a 10% commission on sales offered, but after reading other testimonies on here, I'm sure they would have found a way around that. I only accepted this offer due to my own financial situation and a need for money.

I received my onboarding documents on a Wednesday night, and filled them out and returned them by Thursday morning. I didn't receive an email confirming receipt or flagging any issues. I then received an email on the Friday afternoon, with a welcome kit and details about how to set up email accounts etc. Since I received it at 5pm on a Friday, I took it that it just needed to be done before Monday, on which I was scheduled to start at 15:00. I began setting things up on Sunday, until the email accounts I had just logged into were now inaccessible, seemingly deleted.

To not bother anyone on a Sunday, I waited until Monday morning to inform them of this. When I did, I received an almost instant response, informing me that I had been dismissed, with the reasons being "onboarding documents not properly filled" (all I had to enter was my address and signature) and not setting up my accounts early enough.

I was shocked and disappointed, but mostly confused, as these seemed like trivial reasons to dismiss someone you've had two 45-minute interviews with and decided to hire. The unprofessionalism and callousness were very surprising from the supposed "family business," but less surprising now I've read other reviews here. I do feel I've dodged a bullet somewhat, as I'm sure their true colours would have been shown eventually, but I also feel like I've had my time wasted, and been disrespected. I replied to the dismissal email outlining these thoughts and asking for clarification, but they've not even had the courtesy or dignity to respond to that.

Apologies for the very long-winded review, but I feel any prospective employees/clients of Collot Baca should know who they're dealing with, and to avoid them.

They don´t pay you!!!!

Did work for them in January 2023 and I am still fighting with them to get paid for the work I´ve delivered on time, even within their set delivery date!

Scammers and don't respect translators/subtitlers

5 days of work and they just deleted me from their platform. They don't respect freelancers. After uploading translated file, they demand a revision of the work after 2 hours when it was already 21h (CET). And although the revision is done in time, they took the translation and they just deleted me from the project. Please don't work for them.
