Appalling experience. Purchased a 32” Samsung TV from Curry’s in Bracknell on 19 August. Waited in all day on 20th August for promised delivery. Driver Yonnis took photo of where he delivered the TV which showed roadworks in an adjacent road and certainly not my address! The TV needed to be here on 20th before being installed on 21st, the installation costing £50 and arranged by Curry’s. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to contact Curry’s including going back to the shop, the TV was eventually delivered the following morning but despite advising the installers the TV had been delivered and their confirmation that an engineer would carry out the installation on 21st any time up to 6 pm, he too failed to turn up. At about quarter past three I received a message from the installers asking me if the TV had been delivered and asking me to telephone them to arrange a date for them to set up the TV!! So I had waited in all day fir them for nothing. Not only did I waste a second day for people who failed to turn up but it was virtually impossible to contact either Curry’s or the firm carrying out the installation. After about six attempts to phone the installers on Friday 21st and being told on each occasion their agents were busy and to use their chat line “service” and then cutting me off, I did eventually speak to Manni, who tried unsuccessfully to contact the engineer. The engineer was unable to speak to him as he was driving and told Manni he would speak to him when he got home!! The TV was purchased as a birthday present for my son who is severely disabled and was supposed to have been a surprise for him when he returned from the day centre. After a second very frustrating and stressful day, when my son got home, I had to look after him and it was only later, around 7 pm, I was able to look at my phone to find phone messages and emails from Manni to say the engineer would be contacting me before 9 am on Saturday 22nd August as he was going to try and “squeeze” me in” for the installation in the afternoon of 22nd. This after Manni told me earlier the engineers didn’t work at weekends and it would be Monday 24th before a date some time next week could arranged for the installation. I had said that after the shambolic experience of buying this television, I was considering returning it to Curry’s and getting my money back, both the cost of the TV and £50 cost of installation. I didn’t want to disappoint my son so I emailed Manni that I could not wait in all day on Saturday 22nd for a third time for people who might or might not turn up but also because I had an important lunch commitment today 22 August and asked that the engineer come late afternoon. I then received a message from the installer that the engineer would attend between 13.30 and 15.30 hours!!! , the actual time I was not able to be here. It has been left that the installers are to contact me on Monday with a time next week for the television to be set up. What an utterly shambolic way to do business. The Curry’s advertisement describes their staff as being competent and able to give customers the necessary advice on their products and the current technology. This was not my experience when purchasing the TV. It took both the assistant who served us and a manager to key into their computer details of the order and sale and with fits and starts was extremely time consuming and the print out of the installation details are totally illegible owing to the printer not working properly in a store which sells printers! After my experience I am surprised Curry’s do any business at all. And incidentally every message regarding the visit of an engineer to carry out the installation has a note that should the customer not be in during the 08.00 am - 18.00 pm time slot, there would be a cancellation/failed visit fee charged to the customer! Does this also apply in reverse? Is a fee paid to the customer in the event of a failure on Curry’s part to deliver when they say they will or in the event of a failure to attend by the firm Currys employ to carry out installation of their products. I am afraid I wouldn’t even give Curry’s a one star rating after the appalling experience I have had buying just a small television from them,
