This is an unreliable company... First of all, they don't respond to emails at all. Exactly for that reason, when placing my order, I specifically indicated what type of device I wanted the product to be compatible with. Nevertheless, they still sent a basic version that I can't use for anything.

About the packaging: My order traveled ~2000km in a thin cardboard box (almost the same size as the product in it) stuffed with paper. Even the tape used to seal the box was made of paper... The package was quite damaged by the time it arrived in my mailbox. It's a miracle that it stays in one piece (it's a 3D-printed product).

With VAT and customs duties, I ended up paying quite a lot of money for two pieces of plastic that I can't even use. I am seriously considering requesting a refund from PayPal, as it is impossible to communicate with this company by email. I also worked in sales for many years, but if I had provided such poor service to customers, my boss would have fired me in the first day.

I like the fact that small companies like Custom Cans server a niche market in need. The upgrade was well worth it to me. It was affordable and there timely shipping was great. Hope to do business again

I sent 2 Beyerdynamic headphones for detachable cable mod with balanced conversion. My T1 first generation sounded extremely bright to the point I needed to use EQ to tame the highs. After the conversion headphones now sound perfect. My T90 Jubilee also sounds great after conversion. Excellent communication regarding shipment and progress of repair.

Generally a great experience. I purchased a set of high quality custom headphone cables. They are very good quality with lovely attention to detail. Everything else about the purchase and delivery process was very smooth. Highly recommended.

I received the wrong item with my order. When I contacted customer service, I was assured that a replacement would be sent out the same day. After hearing nothing for over a week, I reached out again for confirmation, only to be told that the replacement had just been shipped. When I expressed frustration with the delay and lack of communication, I was told that I may actually receive two packages, implying there was no reason to be upset.

When the package finally arrived, it still did not contain the correct-sized copper rings for the drivers, and I only received one shipment. This experience included multiple inconsistencies and incorrect information, which has been very disappointing.

Easy to use website with lots of colour options. Clear advice on delivery timescales, which were bettered. And the cable was beautiful and sounds great. It was a gift and is much appreciated.

Got a wonderful mod for my HD 600. Came with great instructional videos and was shipped surprisingly fast

A helpful and responsive company.
The Headphone cables arrived quickly and they were of a high quality.
This was a replacement cable for my Moondrop Cosmo H/Phones. I didn't like the look and feel of the Moondrop cable.
What surprised me was that the Custom Cans cable makes the headphones sound a lot better. The sound is fuller, but still crisp and clear. I don't have golden ears so this is quite something.
The cable is tangle resistant and it's relaxed / soft rather than lively. Nice colour too. All in all they are very nice indeed regarding quality and finish. They look and feel good.

One negative is that their website really needs a bit of work. It is difficult to pick a particular cable and then choose what goes on each end. To buy this standard headphone cable I had to work through a list of different headphones until I found one which used a cable like the Moondrop.
I've put two orders in and each time I had to telephone Custom Cans because I could not be confident that I was getting the right item using their website.

I cannot recommend this company and their products enough.

Dec 2025 I now have my second shipment from Custom Cans - Another Headphone cable and and extension cable.
The 5 meter extension cable is phenomenal. Soft tangle free cable, red to warn people of the trip hazard and it sounds incredible. No discernible sound deterioration whatsoever. Their cables deliver v e r y good sound and they are beatifuly made with excellent high quality fittings.

The 3D Printed HiFiMan Edition XS Super Grills is a nice addition to my set of cans. The grills did change the sound to be noticeably different. It really gives it an airy sound to it, but the upper-mids/highs seems sharper. I did eq the headphones a bit to give it a little bass boost, and that is with using the Schiit vali 3 with a GE 5670 5-star black plate tube installed. Some reviewers mentioned on subreddit that the grills creates a bigger soundstage to the cans, but I think it really is just the open grills providing more air inbetween the sound.

Overall, the airy tone gives it a "natural" sound to it, similar but not the same as the Hifiman Organic Arya. I think if anyone wants a natural sound for the Edition XS then this should be a considered option for those that can't or currently cannot upgrade from their Edition XS.
