Detour Africa Reviews

Already the admin part was perfect, very professional and personal handled by James. The tour description did not promise to much. A wonderful experience with a lot of highlights. Special thanks to our tourguides Salomon and Thabani who did a fantastic job. Perfectly organized, helpful and very active in the group. I can recommend the tour to everyone.

The Namibia tour was really amazing! The guides and the group were the best and I had a great time from beginning to end.

Hello,
A few days ago, we returned from just over two weeks of traveling in Botswana and Namibia. Elana from Detour Agency helped us organize our itinerary, and we can only speak highly of her. She responded promptly to all our questions and was extremely attentive to our wishes.
In Botswana, our itinerary included a 2-day trip to the Salt Pans and a 1-day Moremi Day Tour. Our guide and driver (unfortunately, I forgot his name, but the agency is Africazim Travel and Tours) spoke excellent English, was an outstanding driver, and had extensive knowledge of Moremi Park. In just one day, we were able to see 4 of the 5 “Big Five” animals.
In Namibia, we went on a 4-day Swakopmund and Sossusvlei safari with Chamelot Agency. Our guide, Kanedy, was responsible, knowledgeable, and fluent in English, with a deep understanding of Namibia’s history and natural landmarks.
Overall, it was an unforgettable trip. Thank you, Elana!

I booked a 3-day trip to Sossusvlei with Detour Africa this November and had an amazing experience. Everything was really well coordinated and punctual — the excursions were stunning, the accommodation was great, and the food was excellent quality. Mandy was incredibly helpful and quick to answer all my questions. I’m really happy I chose Detour Africa and would thoroughly recommend them to anyone planning a trip in Namibia!

All plain sailing with Detour Africa would definitely use them again.

I had great fun touring with Detour. You can rely on Mandy, our tour organizer, to help manage everything. Everything was perfect, from the tour guide, hotel staff, breakfast, dinners, game drives, and pure safari for our sunset cruise and plus watching the majestic Victoria Falls with our tour guide. The hotel and the meals were also well prepared. We dont have to worry about anything. I would highly recommed this company.

They are very good! Special thanks to James in his team. Very supportive and helpful people.
We just loved our Safari in South Africa grater Kruger and we’d recommend it to everyone!

I went on the 6 Day Namibia Highlights tour, which was extremely well organized, making the most of the time. Wonderful experience with one highlight chasing the other.

We booked two trips, one from Windhoek to Walbis bay and another one from Windhoek to Victoria falls and they were the most wonderful experience we have ever had. Namibia and Botswana are amazing. However, besides the country the attention from Detour was exceptional, Elana helped us a lot to arrange the places we wanted to visit, she was super flexible, eager to help and accommodate some things/tours we wanted to do in addition. The answer were incredibly fast, so I highly recommend booking with them!

The most amazing experience I could've asked for. If you are looking to hit the highlights for a day trip Detour Africa will work with you to customize and ensure your experience is amazing.

We joined a group trip to Namibia. and were very satisfied. Our travel agent provided the best service, helped us find the perfect trip and was always available for questions. Everything worked smoothly and we felt very well taken care of. We highly recommend this agent

The choice of places to stay, the beautiful scenery, the adventure outings as well as the commentary about the history and local information made it an overall wonderful experience. The driver (goes by Frank) was knowledgeable and the vehicle was clean and comfortable. Having a smaller group made it interesting to form bonds over the 3 days.
I/ We would certainly recommend you to anyone visiting Cape Town and surrounding areas. Mick Venner.

Detour Africa arranged a 12 day accommodated tour of Namibia for me, at a very reasonable price, with a local tour operative.
I found getting detail about the tour a little difficult, and an airport transfer booking got lost in the noise.
However the tour itself was everything I expected and more. The country is stunning with such amazing range.

I booked the 12 day accommodated tour from Vic Falls to Windhoek through detour Africa. All the booking went smoothly, the trip was lovely organized and the atmosphere was perfect. I can surely recommend it fir further travels 👍.

We booked the 3-Days Garden Route Tour with Detour Africa and found ourselves in extremely professional and friendly hands from the very beginning! James not only replied promptly to all our messages but also offered advice and guidance to any concerns and questions arising.
Pick-up and transportation throughout the tour worked perfectly fine - our guide Maudi made it an unique experience for all of us keeping all our individual requests in the back of his head as well as keeping us well entertained on both long and short drives!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and would recommend it to everyone!

The Trip of a lifetime- Thanks to Elana at Detour Africa!
Wow- where do I start? Our safari and beach holiday in Kenya organised by Elana Black at Detour Africa, was nothing short or amazing.
From the very first email, Elana just got it. She listened to what we were hoping for and somehow created the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. The safari lodge she chose was incredible - waking up with elephants and giraffe right outside was something we'll never forget. Then after all the excitement heading to the coast for some blissful beach time was exactly what we needed.
Everything ran so smoothly - transfers,guides,accommodation-it was all so effortless, which meant we enjoyed every moment. And it wasn't just well organised, it felt personal, like the trip had been designed for us (because it was!).
Elana was also such a pleasure to deal with- warm, responsive and genuinely excited to make our holiday special. That extra care really shone through the whole experience and the price cheaper than I could find anywhere else.
This was honestly a trip of a lifetime, filled with memories we'll treasure forever. If you are dreaming of Africa, I couldn't recommend Detour and Elana more highly

I had a really good experience with DeTour Africa. I'm Italian and found the agency online after reading a lot of positive reviews, which turned out to be accurate. Elana supported me from the beginning, helping me plan a trip to South Africa for me and my teenage daughter. She was very patient, helped me chose between different tours, and even managed to book us a beautiful lodge in Kruger at the last minute during high-season.

She always replied quickly, even in the evenings or on weekends when I needed to sort out something like an extra transfer.

Payments were straightforward – I paid in euros through their platform, so there were no extra fees or exchange rate issues. Also, the overall cost was noticeably lower than the quotes I received from Italian tour operators.

100% recommended.

We used Detour Africa for a Kenyan safari. Elana Black was our travel specialist and she is amazing. She is attentive, thorough and has excellent suggestions. We had to rearrange travel dates and Elana was patient and did everything possible to save us money and avoid cancellation fees. We had a great trip in Kenya. The guides, accommodations, food and wildlife viewing were all top notch. We live in the USA and it can feel overwhelming to book a vacation in Africa but you can just sit back and let Elana handle the details for you.

From the start we were treated with professionalism and friendly prompt customer service at Detour Africa. Our first safari to Krueger park in South Africa and James made it all happen for us. Even on short notice when our connecting flight from London was delayed and we had to find another lodge to compensate for the missed day, he found us a fabulous alternative. A trip of a lifetime and not sure it would have been as smoothly organized as with Detour. Thank you for helping us make unforgettable memories!

Elana is simply the best. She helped us with everything, but I felt that was way more than the travel expert usually does.
We went to South Africa during the winter, went to Kruger and we stayed in Thornhill. We had a marvellous time there!
We came back in June, but I'm already missing the team, the hotel and the safaris at the dawn.
