With their very advanced technology Digital Microbiology helped me to find the bacteria which caused my UTI (the NHS tests were not able to) and suggested the antibiotics which would work for them. This made a crucial difference to my health and I am so grateful that I found them. Their customer care is first class. They responded quickly to my questions and gave me very helpful advice before, during and after the test. This is a very friendly and supportive company and I cannot recommend them enough. Real life savers.

Digital Microbiology have been invaluable in tracking a series of on-going chronic UTIs. They have identified specific bacteria and the antibiotics that those bacteria respond to. This is in contrast to randomly GP prescribed antibiotics which seemed to exacerbate the problem. Nick and his team respond very promptly to any enquiry and are very helpful. For anyone struggling with repeated UTIs, I think the insights that this company provide are absolutely essential.

I didn't find their vaginal test very accurate. It showed up the good bacteria very well, but missed some bad bacteria which showed up in another test at the same time. I think it's a pretty good testing service for UTIs, and the team at DM are great and very helpful, but the test results for me, and a couple others I have spoken to in similar situations, weren't accurate.

Probably the best decision. After being ignored by my gynecologist, I decided to get testing done right at my own expense. The whole process is smooth, the communication amazing, and I got results back quickly. Turns out I did need antibiotics, and now Im finally fine after months of undiagnosed issues

Digital Microbiology have been a beacon of hope for me throughout a 7 month journey battling a UTI or as it turns out UTI’s. If you’ve got UTI symptoms and are not getting well or diagnosed don’t hesitate. You’ll get a breakdown of exactly what’s in your urine and identify the pathogen or pathogens causing your symptoms and find out which antibiotic will treat it and which antibiotics it’s resistant to. It’s the future and miles ahead of the outdated testing done by the nhs which misses many infections and sort of guesses which antibiotics to give resulting in resistance and much pain and suffering. If the nhs adopted this model patients would get the right antibiotic first time and get better most of the time and many unnecessary, invasive and costly procedures such as cystoscopy could be avoided. It’s a no brainer. The nhs should sit up and take notice. Yes, atm it’s expensive but what price can you put on health? If the nhs and private hospitals adopted this third generation testing the price would come down.

I happened to be accepted on a Healthy Controls trial, not realising that I would soon discover that I actually had issues. I had dismissed. The symptoms I had were bothersome, but liveable with.
Thanks to this amazing company and the fully comprehensive report that I could access, download and take initially to the pharmacist to request the treatment suggestion on the report, it ended up saving valuable time and resources. The pharmacist could not request the recommended antibiotics as he had only access to the broad spectrum on offer. With his guidance and advice, I was then able to request a copy of my results to be placed on my NHS file for the GP to write the antibiotics specifically for the pathogens on the report.
The pharmacist commented what a great and extremely helpful report it was.
I would not hesitate to use this service in the future. Especially when the pharmacist admitted he had never seen such a comprehensive report at this level before.

Excellent service all round. Very impressed with packaging and instructions on testing materials, speed, thoroughness and presentation of results, and perhaps most important of all the kind help of Nick answering follow-up questions and helping me identify best next steps. Unfortunately, I’m having trouble getting my GP on side to prescribe recommended antibiotics. Sadly it seems that despite the fact I have a complex history of chronic uti symptoms that have confounded conventional treatments, my GP practice is not willing to work with me on an alternative approach. So frustrating.

detected a pathogen that wouldn't show up on a old outdated PCR test in NHS. This showed me a pathogen that is not found in Males. Doctors told me it was all in my head! Now I found the answer . Why didnt I get it tested here sooner!

I am SO grateful for these clever, clever people at Digital Microbiology who have basically found the guilty pathogens and guided me to the best treatments to try. They are fast and efficient, and helpful if you have questions, and they care. I’ve been telling everyone about them because there are so many people out there living with recurrent/chronic UTIs who are suffering, physically and mentally. A bit about my experience: like many people with recurrent or chronic UTIs I’ve found it really miserable living with often pretty debilitating symptoms and finding that prescribed antibiotics don’t work or don’t fully work. I choose healthy foods to care for my gut and it’s unbearable to think I have been killing so many of the good bugs but not seeing my symptoms clear. The other frustrating and miserable part of this is that most medical professionals don’t have the training or data to give correct information on recurrent UTIs. It’s been implied that it’s pretty much my fault, that I need to be more clean, drink more than 2 litres a day, and drink cranberry juice, (seriously?), and sometimes also being told that it’s perhaps in my head when often nothing is found after NHS standard lab tests. So when I got my results back from D.M., it made me cry with relief and joy because then I finally understood the pathogens that were causing the problems (including other issues that I had but didn’t have symptoms for.) Armed with the facts that they needed, my GP was able to prescribe the exact best antibiotics and after 2 types of antibiotics and around 3 weeks from the first test, I am free of 3 pathogens that were at unacceptably high numbers, and free of symptoms too. Incidentally, I saw a pathogen often associated with oral health so I really stepped up my oral hygiene too (inc tongue cleaner etc)…and weirdly, since I made these changes my eczema has almost gone. Hard to know which of the changes did this but it all seems to be linked. Thank you Digital Microbiology team!

After suffering very badly for months with no resolution the uti microbiology gave the much needed answers, thus enabling the correct treatment. I am now so much better and have my life back. I honestly couldn’t be more grateful to Nick Parkinson and his team.

Since the beginning of October 2024 I had been suffering with a horrid UTI and kidney pain.

After 8 rounds of different antibiotics, negative dipsticks and cultures from the NHS, being told it’s in my head, private urology appointments and 7+ A&E trips.. I was at what I thought was a dead end. Until on an internet forum page I stumbled across a digital microbiology (DM) recommendation. At the end of my tether and the toll it had taken on my mental health I was willing to try anything. I used DM and another testing platform and DM were by far the most helpful and informative.

My results appeared within 2 working days that I had Gardnerella Swindinski. The antibiotics that were recommended were Metronadizole however, that didn’t work and with amazing communication Nick himself Clindamycin was considered. I requested this from my GP and retested 5 days after completion of my course. My symptoms cleared and my retest showed that it had been eradicated from my microbiome.

After being signed off sick, bed bound and unable to be who I used to be was a dark place.

The communication, information and service from DM is invaluable and I cannot recommend them enough. They gave me more than enough information for me to take to a medical professional and make an informed decision about my health. Giving me back some control that I lost in the darkest time of my life.

This test has allowed me to investigate my health further which revealed I have a PUJ which affects my kidney and ureter. Without this test I would’ve been at a standstill with my investigations I believe. So I am now resolving that matter.

Their ethos, service and compassion is incredible. If you’re on the fence get off and do it. You won’t regret it. Just remember they can’t give medical advice they can give you information to support you on your medical journey. Which they definitely did me.

I will retest in a few months and do one every so often just to check my urine and vaginal health.

Remember you know your body and if somethings not right get it checked.

I am still trying to understand what might be causing my pain but sending off the test with Digital Microbiology has given me a better understanding. I have asked a few questions and someone has always got back to me pretty quickly to help me understand. My problem is quite complex as I have had problems for over 40 years on and off. Now I can get back to the GP with a better understanding and hopefully try some treatment which has been recommended by the lab.

After years of being fobbed off by GP, nurses and even hospitals “sample is clear” despite being in agony I have to say this is a game changer. I have now been able to go back to them and show exactly what is in my urine and rather than mess around with antibiotics and build resistance I get prescribed exactly what I need. It is well known the dip samples are less than 25% accurate. This is a horrendous issue nevermind being made to feel like it’s all in your mind. The test comes quick, send first sample and detailed results are back within a few days. I don’t mind the price as I would pay anything to get results and get better quicker and it’s all broken down explanations and percentages etc

My only downside is they are closed at weekends and whilst I appreciate everyone needs time off it means realistically even if they receive sample on Thursday you are waiting to Monday to get results which is a long time when in so much pain and worry about developing kidney/sepsis issues however I am extremely grateful for their work and honestly believe this is the future.

Provide detailed result on samples. Quick turnaround , perfect communication . Will definitely use again.
