Direct TV is Whacked!
The overall service for Direct TV is pathetic. When it was really Direct TV the service was much better. Technicians came in Direct TV vehicles, had Direct shirts on, etc. when AT&T acquired them the service cannot be worse. You get some off-shore person with no command if the English language and I don’t know what they are sayjng nor do they understand me. I carry the plan where my service is covered. The person on the phone wants to put me through a lot of changes before writing up a service call. The people they send to your home are often scary and come in “hoopty” non marked vehicles with no uniforms, etc. The only reason I’m giving them a two star rating rather than one star is I do have service. Also, the service in changing channels is slow. They are a huge disappointment!
Missing channel 9…
Like everyone with Direct Tv we do not have channel 9 right now. They are in midst of arbitration and I was told that Direct Tv could have kept channel 9 on the air for us but chose not to. What do you all think of that? Guess we aren't that important to them.

If I could give less than a star I would. I paid my bill and service still not working for 4 months. I cancelled also twice using the automatic attendant to cancel. Perhaps Direct failing TV should hire live staff. DTV put this on my credit also I filed a BBB complaint. I switched to YouTube TV a world better than DTV. They are a scam for putting this on my credit and out of date satellite service never worked while they continued to bill me and report falsely on my credit . Unbelievable!
Difficult, expensive, not trustworthy
When I changed to AT&T Fiber, I lost Xfinity TV. Since AT&T TV WAS better than Xfinity last time I tried it 20 years ago, I thought I'd try DirecTV. It was difficult to sign up. Too costly and many useless channels. When I changed to streaming, I discovered DirecTV charges for the full month, even if you cancel midmonth. I followed the rules for returning the remote & still got charged for it!

First of all….you can read my entire complaint on YELP but the abridged version is…..WORST COMPANY EVER! I put my account on extended vacation mode last 6/24/25 w/DIRECTV rep telling me….”call us when you want to resume”. To date 5/5/26 I haven’t requested resuming their service & I had accrued a $118.82 credit balance. Today, 5/5/26 I opened a bill for $191.01 as they absconded with my $118.82 credit balance applying it to their 4/26/26 bill of $309.83 that I did NOT authorize! Joy (supervisor & 3rd person I spoke with) claimed they sent me an informing email or letter (she didn’t know which) of resuming service”. LIE!!! THAT DID NOT HAPPEN! Stupid me, I still had my account set for autopay So they stole $191.01 from my VISA account.
3 reps & 2 hrs later, their supervisor Joy told me I could “smash up their unwanted /NON-WORKING equipment with a sledge hammer if I so choose”. So YES, I cancelled DIRECTV today but not before they managed to get another $309.83 out of me for absolutely NOTHING as we haven’t used their over-priced service since June 24, 2025! They are THIEVES! Their equipment doesn’t even work!! People, BEWARE! Use streaming services, Utube, anything BUT DIRECTV! I only wish I could give them negative stars as one star is waaaaaay too many and highly undeserved! What I got from DIRECTV was a whole lot of frustration! What they get from me is BAD PRESS! I hope it’s worth it to them! And I hope you’ll read my YELP review and direct your friends to these reviews as well! Please protect yourselves and your loved ones from this underhanded company!
Horrible customer service
I’ve been with DIRECTV for 30yrs. I had a bundle package with AT&T & DIRECTV and making my payments every month. I didn’t know that they split up with AT&T and they never notify me or send me a separate bill. They disconnected my service. I called them and they said I was behind 2 months. They told me I only paid AT&T which is BS because I had a bundle package and paying same amount for years. It took 30 min just to get to a customer service person to talk to them for over an hour for them to say they can’t do nothing and I have to pay $428 pass due and future bills will be $218 per month. I told them I will discontinue my services with them and the rep I spoke with could careless. Horrible customer service and high prices. I will be switching to YouTube TV and will spread the word for everyone to leave DIRECTV.
The service is extremely slow
The service is extremely slow. We have to shut down and restart on a routine bases to get the voice to match the video. The system hangs up frequently. Waiting for our contact to expire so we can switch service.
Unauthorized charges by Direct TV
I tried the 5 Day free trail. I canceled on the free trail on the 5th day. They still charged me $86. I called to get my money back. However, since I was calling them about the charge after the trail, they won't refund me and they won't close my account. While I was discussing the situation with both the customer service associate and the manager, they both were chuckling over me experiencing the worst customer service I have ever had.

I’m filing a complaint against Direct TV when I cancelled their services between January 29 and 30, 2026. So when I was paying the bill on my Visa Debit Card before the due dates of November, 07 2025 $279.16 to December 09, 2025 $ 279.32. However, the price of the bill went up from $279.32 and ballooned towards $515.16 which is very much overpriced. Non the less, I’ve been paying this bill on January 19, 2026 before January 20, 2026 ahead of time. Afterwards things went downhill for me after AT&T stop doing business with Direct TV in 2024. So after I cancelled Direct TV services I’m still paying their cancellation fee from $ 347.65 to $ 359.65. (They didn’t give me enough time to pay it) I just need some relief from this issue so that I can move on from Direct TV.

Calling several times to resolve an issue over a 60.00 increase, the when trying to change a viewing package I was told I couldn’t until next billing cycle, at this point I requested to speak to a supervisor and was told she would call me back (never received a call)

I've been with DirecTV for many years, primarily due to the fact that I live in a rural area where there are not many options. Fairly easy to sum it up: it's expensive! Trying to get a technician to the house is a bad joke ... they really try to avoid it! Have to say, most times they have actually shown up (with one definite exception) they've been great. My biggest complaint with this company is that while the cost goes up and up, imo the changes they make are not improvements at all, just stupid changes. Just one such thing, which just happened and has be so disgusted: When you choose "Info" on the remote you used to be able to see the length of the program, the cast for THAT episode, and the date when the show was first aired, (even if it was decades ago), and "Other Showings". Personally I use all of these every day, or at least I did until a few days ago. After the very recent changes it no longer shows the length of the program, but rather how much longer it will run. Huh?? If you want to check out other showings there is a multi-step, confusing way of (maybe) finding that out, and there is NO way of seeing who appears in that particular episode, ie guest stars. Good work DirecTV! 😡

Error 771 and signal loss for most of the day.
I live in an apartment complex and for the past weeks I've been experiencing signal loss on the service. Apparently, there's only a few dishes on the roof that we shared (people with Directv service). For m9st of the day, watching tv is practically impossible...and when I called them to let them know that their dishes are experiencing issues they're trying to charge me an extra $100 or try to enroll me into a protection plan for $10.99 a month for a technician to come over and fix their issue and being able to watch a service that I'm already been charged for.....Really!!....this is what you do to loyal customers?......charge them even more just to be able to watch the service that we already have paid for!!
No Show directv service appointments
I just rescheduled a service appointment for the fourth time. All three previous appointments were missed with no texts or calls. When I call Directv they contact the technician and are told he does not have the equipment so he's not going to show up. My next appointment is for Thursday April 23rd between 8:00 and noon. I have no faith that anyone will show up. I don't want to switch to Spectrum but if this goes badly on Wednesday I guess I'll have no choice. I am absolutely stunned on how bad the directv customer service is.

The worst company ever. They couldn’t provide the service i signed up for and came and picked up their equipment in December 2025. They were still taking money from my account. I had medical issues and wasn’t watching my bank account so they were still deducting for services. Trying to get it resolved has been a nightmare.

I am writing this to warn others about the predatory practices of DIRECTV. My 76-year-old father, a disabled veteran with cognitive challenges, was tricked into switching providers. He simply intended to call DISH Network to reconnect his 9-year service after a roof repair; instead, he was misled into signing a new contract with DIRECTV.Despite my status as his VA-appointed Fiduciary and Power of Attorney, DIRECTV refused to acknowledge that he lacked the capacity to consent to this agreement. He cannot use the service and is not receiving the channels he requested. Even after explaining the situation to a supervisor, the company stubbornly refused to waive a $400 disconnection fee. It is deeply concerning that a company would prey on an elderly veteran and then prioritize a cancellation fee over basic human ethics. We will be pursuing this further.

We just gladly paid to end the contract with Direct TV. They overcharge and under deliver. They charged us on random days not the one scheduled. I would not recommend them when there are so many more affordable options with better service.
