I have been a seller and buyer on Discogs for over 4 years, rarely have I ever encountered a problem. Not sure about all these negative reviews.
Never really had or have issues with Discogs as someone who has been selling on Discogs for over many years.
Excellent service!!!
I love Discogs - have been buying on here for several times
Excellent service! Seller Darreld kept in touch throughout the posting stages and updated
delivery status every day. Items arrive very quick and in good condition. I Am very happy
with this company!!!
Will use this company again!
Discogs.com is the pits
I will no longer buy or sell on discogs.com. As the user base has expanded, the reliability of sellers, feedback and record gradings has declined. Crafty sellers know how to manipulate feedback and the site's management is of no help whatsoever. The site itself is frequently dysfunctional and links to PayPal and mailing utilities are full of glitches. While still somewhat useful as a database (open source with all that entails) the marketplace is really the pits. Support your local record store instead. Even eBay is better!
Disappointing experience
You don't need help from the source when your purchase is good, right? But at once you got a problem Discog will leave you alone with it. They never give you any protection, no refunds, no support, no live agents. The purchase there are risky, you like play the game 50:50 - lucky/unlucky.
I was lucky once. I was unlucky once. In the second case I had the vinyl that was advertised much better than it was in reality. They grade it like VG+ such is not true. The record has clearly visible deep scratches that reflects on sound - the record stuck and repeat itself - so you cannot listen the music normally with satisfaction. The seller lied to me, after that ignored my request to return the item and removed my review from the website. The source left me alone with it, does not help, does not support, does not protect me. I feel cheated and scammed.
Excellent service
Excellent service! Seller kept in touch througout the posting stages and updated delivery status every day. Item arrive very quick and in good conditon.outer box and inner box were excellent condition and CDs were mint with no wear or scuffs or scratches either. Will use this company again! I have never seen an original version of this CD in such good condition after 27 years!. Fantastic. Hardcore Heaven Volume One.
Warning to buyers
Genuine Review - Placed order - they took money then cancelled order and ignored me when I queried where the goods were and why cancelled - DO NOT BUY FROM DISCOGS - ignore the fake positve reviews - You have been Warned
As a buyer
As a buyer, you are not protected at all. You can get nothing and they have no problem just “ contact a financial institution”
Untrustworthy and broken
1. Seller listed CD as LP which was only declared after payment. Refunded everything but the Discogs fee. Opened ticket, never heard back. Fee was not returned.
2. Seller changed delivery fees after payment significantly. A shipment from Austria to Germany ended up costing more than the record. Package was not protected. No communication, no response to questions.
First and last time I’ll use the platform unfortunately. Great offering, broken tech, scammy users.

I love Discogs
I love Discogs - have been selling and buying on here for nearly 20 years. There is the occasional problem and of course some items are inflated by sellers but that's a marketplace for you - no different to Ebay etc. Such a shame that Brexit has destroyed international sales...
One thing I will say is that the Discogs team are very slow to respond to problems and of very little help, compared to Ebay etc, which is a real shame. If only they would step up their customer service...
OMG this website/app is impossible to…
OMG this website/app is impossible to use, 3 of us tried to list 1 album after 2 hours given up, their help facility takes you round in circles and you will never get to speak with anyone.
So after 3 hours of opening an account I have closed it.

Don’t use the app…
Ordered an album on 1 July using the new Discogs app that I was trialling. I have tried to make contact with the buyer, I have even made notes on the trialling system to raise the fact that after two weeks I still haven't received my order.
I want someone from their side to contact me rather than telling me to go through all
This hoop jumping.
I can’t be bothered to deal with this anymore.

- PRIVACY VIOLATION -
DISOCGS AVOIDS TO REPLY & IGNORES PRIVACY VIOLATION ISSUE FOR ALMOST A YEAR MARKING ALL REQUESTS AS SOLVED FORCING USER TO OPEN COUNTLESS TICKETS AND THEN BLAMING HIM FOR SENDING TOO MANY REQUESTS AGAIN AND AGAIN WHICH IS CONSIDERED AS SPAMMING.
THERE ARE IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE, PROOFS & SCREENSHOTS. DISCOGS JUST IGNORES THEM WITHOUT ANY REPLY OR IN THE RARE CASE THEY REPLIED THEY TRIED TO DISORIENT THE SUBJECT WITH GENERAL ANSWERS.
PLEASE SPREAD IT TO AS MANY PEOPLE & LEGAL ADVISORS YOU KNOW!!!
Didn't deliver

Scam site...avoid it
Scam site...avoid it. If I could give a zero score I would.
It really annoys me...
It really annoys me that I have to write this review. I've been using discogs for roughly 12 years now. Until recently I thought the site was good. But my experience over the last few months has left vastly disappointed.
Firstly, I don't make many submissions, but I've taken to adding some and find that this experience is full of cliques. People who have one view and literally spit on the work you've done. I'm switching my collection to MusicBrainz and to a spreadsheet at home.
I recently had a fake order placed, the buyer tried to say he was from discogs support and gave me an external link to 'verify my details'. Do these people think we're thick? I must admit the buyer was banned and given automatic negative feedback. However, the item I was selling was not automatically re-listed.
Support is very poor. In a modern world you can't just say that buyers and sellers are responsible for sorting everything. I mistakenly placed an order for item today. It wasn't until I'd paid that I noticed the item was only 1 of 3 records in the set. If a listing is 3 records then surely the onus is on the seller is to make sure that the item they are selling matches.
Now I am in a dispute with the seller as he is claiming that Paypal charge to issue a refund. Which, to my knowledge they don't. He even asked me to make a payment of 6 euros outside of the platform in order to cover the supposed cost. In fact, all he needs to do is refuse or return the payment. No charges incurred.
I sent a message to discogs. Giving them all the facts and all I've had back is a what looks like a standard reply offering links to Paypal.
This is lazy support. Copy and paste replies only annoy people.
So, poor support, know it all people, and lots of people trying to take your money.
All good for me.
A lot of negative reviews but I can only speak as I find. Bought from various sellers on the website and have had nothing but good experiences. Most recent item came from overseas, arrived quickly and carefully packaged.
Victim of scam. Discogs never responded.
Was the victim of a seller scam. Many of usID.
re affected over a 24 hour period. We purchased items that the seller did not have. As I understand it, someone hacked into the account of the seller and made bogus listings. The problem, when addressed to discogs, was ignored. I spent two weeks appealing to them, but in the end they absolved themselves of any responsibility. As I never received a refund, I deleted my account. In the three years I was on discogs I spent several hundred dollars per year. Discogs is so lazy they'd rather see a faithful buyer leave their marketplace than administer some action on behalf of a scammed patron. The time it'll take them to upload their 'we're sorry to hear...' response is probably far more than it would have taken to help guide me through the initial problem.
