They withdrew money from my bank…

They withdrew money from my bank account via paypal . I recieved all documents for a successful transaction to the seller, but after a while the seller was claiming that no money has been credited to his bank account. I send him the reciept , i contacted my bank in greece , which also confirmed the transaction, but still neither the seller nor somebody from Discogs or pay pal , replies to my tickets ! They also closed one of my tickets replying something irrelevant to my subject !!!

Terrible first time user experience

I joined Discogs to buy one specific record. While the record archive is incredible, the marketplace itself is terrible compared to other platforms such as ebay. Communication with the seller was via early 1990's email. I couldn't agree a price with the seller but was invoiced anyway and have been given a negative rating. I wonder if I am the only Discogs user to have used it once, bought nothing and got a 100% negative rating.

Various problems

There are a few problems with Discogs. Firstly you have to search hard for a bargain. Most items are overpriced. Secondly they don't do notifications to your inbox so you don’t know if you're required to act on something. Thirdly you can't mark items in a wishlist. Fourthly some of the sellers are pretty nasty, and when you complain the support team does nothing. Not a real good record (excuse the pun).

Common scamming field

Had an account since early 2010s at Discogs. Decided to start sell some of my vast collection of records. After putting it up for sale I almost immediately had a scamming attempt by a very sophisticated phishing site. Had some real hassle to secure things afterwards. The security of the site is not trustworthy and poor response from the moderators, who apparently do not deal with this problem that I learned has been around for long. Avoid!

Always ask for items to be fully checked

Ive used Discogs a number of times as a vinyl buyer. Some experiences are excellent but 2 recent ones are poor.

Some of the sellers are over rating their items significantly.

One within 2 days I received “NM” (near mint) advertised vinyl that was “fair” at best probably even poor

Both sellers agreed to postage paid return but my advice is always double check that the items have been fully inspected before you buy.

Avoid: a scammers paradise.

I decided to sell my old collection of CDs and set myself up as a seller on Discog. As a test I offered my first disc and found myself on the end of a most sophisticated extended scam. The 'buyer' tried to direct me to a phony Discog site where I had to prove my credentials as a seller by entering card details. What is more worrying is that Disogs appear to be not concerned in the slightest. They do not respond to direct mails relying on bots.

Excellent site

I found the listing process somewhat confusing and time consuming. The good news is it's free to list. Ebay is way too expensive and annoying. Thanks discogs!

Cloudflare Blocking My Access and Poor Customer Support Service

Discogs has changed for the worse. I'll explain why.

Back in the past, Discogs never used Cloudflare. Now it has jumped on this stupid Cloudflare bandwagon that prevents harmless users from accessing the Discogs site. I'm experiencing Cloudlfare's endless captcha loop of hell that prevents me from accessing the site due to Discogs's endlessly stupid business decisions. Cloudflare is a privacy nightmare, too.

PayPal has unresolved technical issues, poor customer support service, and underpaid workers from India. Oh, they're underpaid. I can't imagine why poor customer support service is happening. 🙄 But Discogs insists on using PayPal despite its awful customer support service, unethical worker treatment, and unresolved technical issues. This is why I warn people to not use Discogs since it insists on using PayPal's shady platform for money transactions in case something goes horribly wrong. On top of it all, PayPal is another privacy nightmare. PayPal is reflecting the collapsing western civilization. And it's pretty uncivilized that these western companies keep using PayPal since it has worsening issues that never get resolved.

When people are exposing dishonest sellers and buyers, they get punished on Discogs. This doesn't promote honest selling and buying at all. I warn people to avoid buying and selling on Discogs since it punishes honesty rather than scammers.

Another complaint is that Discogs staff ignores people's complaints on its forums when they dislike the site's new designs. These new designs are being forced on people. Not mutually agreed on. It's not a user-friendly site anymore.

Best Music Marketplace on Earth

I too have been a buyer and seller for 4 years and have had nothing but great experiences with both selling and buying on DISCOGs. Head and shoulders above eBay and much faster payers if you are selling.
Their customer service is second to none.
Users RP M D P and Atalantia are clearly computer illiterate if, as they said, struggled with the technology
I have quick responses to tickets for help.
This site is clearly not for super dummies
I suggest those that cant handle it get off their seats and go to record stores. No bargains there and very little range

discogs did not even respond to my…

discogs did not even respond to my extensive clarification and defence note, for Order #85254-273, where buyer layed down a paypal claim against me, for non-delivery of the postage that went lost inland. It was decided by paypal that I have to bear the cost of the pack gone lost, while it was sent to a multimedia chain store address in Jemappes (a fact that inherently creates risks for theft by false people, keeping any pack aimed at such shop for themselves, while discog sellers can't refuse purchases in such case without risk of negative feedback), and discogs enables to clarify to buyers they themselves are responsible to pay for tracked deliveries. The buyer though bought the pack without tracking code. Discogs was completely indifferent for such burdening, dishonest handling of a discogs sale, by paypal, it being the fixed partner of discogs. So discogs does not defend honest sellers, having built and maintained 100% reliablity for 20 years. It does not even intervene to paypal, for them to stop setting a required tracking code to be mentioned *whenever* a buyer sets up a case. So the discrepancy in policies between discogs and paypal is burdening, and they don't even sent any sign of caring to cover on honest and transparently decribed sellers terms. This makes the world less safe and honest.

Excellent site for buying or selling music.

I've been with Discogs as a Seller and Buyer since 2019. I've just been reading some reviews from other people who have used them. Absolutely amazed at the negative feedback and 1* reviews. Whenever I've had a problem with buying or as a Seller, I found their response was fast and helpful. Their staff certainly don't seem uncaring, rude or unhelpful to me. The exact opposite in fact. I rate them very highly.

Discogs appalling lack of customer service and communication

I have used Discogs on and off over the last few years .I have recently bought a vinyl record from an overseas company worth £40.00 .I have yet to receive the record and have sent two messages to seller but no response . I have never sold on this sight as seems very complicated . You cannot speak or email anybody to ask how to do it .I am not very tech savvy but had a go . I listed 12 or so vinyl records in accordance to their instructions . I loaded postage ( only selling in the UK )
A few hours later I received an email advising I was Banned .Horrible word Banned ,I have no idea what I did wrong and have tried contacting them on
site .They reply this contact no longer available . As I am banned cannot chase the seller who has taken my money . The lack of communication and customer service with these smart arse companies is appalling .Chat bot absolute rubbish . My business would close down if I offered little or no communication to my customers .
Advise if you are of an older generation Avoid this site at all costs .

Bye Discogs

Fed up with Discogs.Buying from abroad is particularly risky for me in the United Kingdom. The trouble with Discogs is there is NO redress, you have to go through Paypal to get any money back.
All Discogs have is some lame chat bot thingy. There are some trustworthy sellers on the site but sadly i cant be bothered anymore with the ones who are not.
The other issue is sellers should be MADE to leave feedback for buyers.Too often now i do my side of the deal and then leave feedback, but the seller does not bother.
Four days i waited to hear from a seller in Australia who then gave a lame excuse of he thought he had messaged me,even then the record had not shipped out.
Will not be using them again.

Scammers paradise.

Scammers paradise.
I have had a few good deals from sellers on Discogs but after being scammed for $88 all I can say is that it is too risky. I certainly won't be going back.
Not just because I can't trust the sellers, but worse than that, Discogs really don't care! There is no process for redress, nothing like the online auction company that at least offers buyer protection - this one gives you... not even a reply to a complaint!!! Zilch, nada, nowt - not terrible customer service - just none existent!
Avoid this buying anything on this site - the one I bought from had over a thousand feedback and close to 5 stars - NOT WORTH A JOT. 5* SCAMMER - I can't blame the scammer - DISCOGS makes it easy
