Wish I could give NEGATIVE 10 stars....That is what this terrible company deserves....No compassion or empathy at all. They owe me $780 for bogus late fees that were never correct. RUN FAST AS YOU... See more

Discover card company greed
Discover has no compassion for the customer who's struggling with health issues and couldn't make the payment on time. Nope they've got to have their late fee besides the payment never dealt with such a greedy company for their late fees. Charging ridiculous interest rates not enough for them they got to be greedy and ask for more. I'll pay their late fee but I hope they choke on every penny of it. Greedy corporations are the problem in financial world. Company policies are excuses for showing no compassion for the customer.
DISCOVER CARD UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES
DISCOVER CARD UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES
I am being harassed by Discover Card, which after finally finding a dispute in my favor and sending me a check, has reversed its position yet again—this is the fifth time—and debited my CLOSED account for the amount of the purchase. The merchant had originally misrepresented the product with outdated photos on his website, deceived me into returning the product for a refund, then later claimed to Discover that he had a "no refund" policy, and lied to Discover about having issued a credit, which he did not and which I would not have accepted in any case. The issue is no longer the merchant, but the Discover Dispute Team, which after months of waffling, continues to send me unwanted statements, now showing a balance due of approximately $113 that amounts to Discover colluding with this merchant in the commission of fraud. The only reason Discover has offered for again finding in the merchant’s favor is that the merchant has a “no refund” policy on his website, which is irrelevant to the dispute. No policy is a license to defraud. When questioned on this unjustifiable decision and the back-and-forth over the course of these many months, they claim the case is “in review.” At this point, I regard Discover Financial's continuing to send statements, illegitimate claim of a chargeback to my closed account, and constant reversals of its dispute decision in this matter as harassment, a serious and ongoing violation of my consumer rights, and an appalling failure to protect me against fraud and respect its own dispute decisions at my expense. They need to restore my closed account to its rightful zero balance, mark the dispute case as (finally) closed, and stop sending me statements or any other communication.
DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CARD OR COMPANY.
My wife and I have held this card for 15 years and kept a decent payment history where Discover kept increasing our limit $17,000. We actually maxed out the card last year and paid it off this year a few months ago. I just called to request a rate reduction from our 27% rate. We were told "There is no interest rate reduction available for your account. We must send you a rate reduction offer. You can no longer request a rate reduction, but Discover will reach out when one is available." We won't be holding our breath. WHUAT!!?? We have been customers for 15 years and paid off $17k in debt and we are not worthy of a rate reduction from 27%!!! Terrible customer service, horrible policy on working with long time card holders (no loyalty for loyalty) and the interest rate at 27% is highway robbery. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS CARD OR COMPANY.
I have had two terrible experiences…
I have had two terrible experiences with Discover. The first happened in June of 2023 - I returned an item to Ace Hardware and Discover ruled in their favor even though I am a professional with many years of credit history with Discover and impeccable credit. Long story short, the Ace Hardware closed due to terrible customer service/management and I lost $657.05. In April of this year, Discover charged me interest even though my balance was paid in full with two credits and a payment. This company is horrible - I can't believe Capital One (I am also a long time cardholder with them) bought this horrible credit card provider. User beware - they clearly don't value their customers over fly by night business owners did not apply a credit as a payment even though I paid the original charge!!!
Discovery isn't right for the average person.
My wife and I have held a Discovery Card for a long time, always paying on time and maintaining a 780 credit score. I applied for a personal loan they were offering—hoping to consolidate debt—and told my wife we’d likely get immediate approval; I was baffled when, for some reason, we were denied. I think they are only interested in doing business with a certain type of person, not the average individual. Therefore, I do not recommend them; you’re just wasting your time trying to do business with them. They don't publish reviews like this one—only the favorable ones get posted.
Their algorithm on how they judge…
Their algorithm on how they judge whether you get a loan is completely off I apply for a loan with a credit score of about 755 to 778 a debt to income ratio of less than 26 total.I have a solid income of a pension and social security. Totaling about $6,500 a month I only owed $18,000 which my monthly mortgage payment is $1,323 on my home that is worth $290,000 and One credit card balance of about $400 on a credit card that has a credit limit of $13,000 and they told me that I had it an inability to pay on a loan amount of $10,000. They don't have loans offices evaluating your application they have Bots and algorithms that decide whether you get a loan or not. I was borrowing the money for some Home Improvement upgrades and did not want to take out a home equity line of credit because they want you to take out a certain amount and I don't want to take out $50,000 for 15 years with early repayment penalties. When I off my home completely and decide to sell I want to get 100% back the equity Their algorithms said that I could not afford to pay back $360 a month on a personal loan when my total debt is only $1,350 a month, that is a combination of my mortgage and my credit card. I don't have a car loan and I don't have any judgments or negative marks on my credit report do yourself a favorite and go somewhere with a person will evaluate your loan not a bot or an algorithm. Not only did I meet their income requirements and debt to income ratio and my credit score also met there requirement. I applied at American Heritage Credit Union and was approved in 2 days
I made a formal dispute with Discover…
I made a formal dispute with Discover Card for a hotel transaction on my billing statement. Priceline advertised a hotel with a hot tub. The hot tub didn’t exist. Discover would not allow the disputed transaction even though it was not as advertised. I had contacted Priceline already and I could not cancel the reservation without paying Priceline a fee. Discover doesn’t allow disputed billing transactions under the rules of the Fair Credit Billing Act.

I had a replacement card that was supposed to be shipped like over a week ago and I'm sitting here checking the mail every day and I called them today and it wasn't even shipped out now I have to wait another 4 to 10 days like this is ridiculous I think I'll probably just go ahead and close my account and go with another service
Their dispute process is ridiculous
Their dispute process is ridiculous. They are not pro consumer at all. I will be looking for another card. As a replacement for their bad service.
I have been a customer for over 30 years.
Can not be trusted.
this credit card company is horrible they allowed a vendor to rip me off even with proof! I will never use this card ever again. disgusting. and their rate is pathetic. avoid this company.
Absolute dog shit since the Capitol One…
Absolute dog shit since the Capitol One merger. Routine charges get flagged almost daily for "suspected fraud" Customer service is run by low end angry people who just want to waste the customer's time endlessly reading off legit charges. The only discover card was way better. Screw Capitol One. Time to cancel my card.
I had a Discover credit card with a…
I had a Discover credit card with a zero interest for 18 months. Like I've had for many years. They sent me a pre-qualified loan application. Like I've taken several years in the past. My credit is 818. They turned me down. Because they thought I had no other resource to pay off the credit card before their 24% interest kicked in. So I pay the card off except for like $500. And all the girl can talk about is my balance from a month ago. If I just made $4,000 in payments why would I be interested in my balance from 45 days ago!. I don't know who they hire. I don't know what they hire. But when you ask somebody for today's current balance and they give you a balance from 45 days ago they have no clue what they are doing. They thought they were going to trap me in high interest. Wrong!. Stay away people they're not discovered card anymore they were bought out!.
Stay away from Discover
discover has never listened to my complaints about getting mail. they refuse to use their secure message center for anything other than statements. since they merged with capital one, their service has gotten worse. i recently received 2 letters regarding cd's that are not due until dec & feb. i had written in requesting a reason for this and they only stated that "they are required by law to mail these". but, they could not explain WHY i had gotten these 2 letters (for dec & feb) in AUGUST. they blamed it on the 'system' for sending them out. the thing is, i have had these cd's for about 13 years. are they insinuating that i am too stupid to know what a cd is and what to do with it? i will be leaving discover bank now especially since C1 is in the process of completing the merger. for the record, i have proven to them that through Fed Rules & Regs, it does NOT have to be mailed since they have a secure message center. as for the booklet for the cd's, unless there are major changes to the terms & conditions, only the new changes should be listed and sent through the message center. this company/ bank/ financial institution has been talking down to me a lot more lately, which makes me happy to find another online bank that is TRULY online.
Fraud Dept is a Joke
Recently tried to dispute some charges from a company I never subscribed to. Couldn't submit any documents because what do you submit to prove absence of something? The company submitted documents that showed the subscribers name, email address, physical address, and phone number; none of which match my information. Yet Discover decided that that was proof the charges aren't fraudulent and closed the cases in their favor. The person is a different gender, lives pretty much as far across the country as possible from me, and the last 4 digits are from an old card that I renewed about a month before the first charge, but apparently they just keep letting charges on the old number linked to my account go through. Guessing they just use AI to "resolve" issues, because no sane human being would look at charges for an account with 0 matching information and decide that they are the same person.
Disappointed with Credit Impact
Having been with Discover for years, I expected better. My FICO score has taken a noticeable hit every time they evaluate it, dropping by up to 30 points, which seems excessive and unfair. I reached out to customer service multiple times, but they always direct me to the credit bureau. It feels frustrating when other services don’t affect my score this way. While I appreciate their customer support, the scoring issue has made me seriously reconsider my loyalty to them. I just can’t overlook this anymore.

Complaint against Discover…
I am filed a complaint against Discover Financial Services regarding the mishandling of a payment made to my Discover credit card account.
I have been a Discover cardmember since August 2019, and this is the second time I have experienced this same issue during my membership.
On July 6, 2026, I made a payment of $5,045.14 to my Discover credit card from my checking account. The payment cleared my checking account on July 7, 2026, and the funds were successfully withdrawn. Despite the payment clearing my bank account, Discover did not timely apply the payment to my available credit.
My Discover account has a $13,000 credit limit, and after my payment, the system showed an outstanding balance of $8,000. However, my available credit was not updated to reflect the cleared payment.
As a result, on July 13, 2026, my purchase transaction in the amount of $42.38 was declined because my available credit had not been properly updated, even though the payment had already cleared my checking account six days earlier.
The fact that this is the second occurrence of the same issue since I became a Discover cardmember in August 2019 is deeply concerning. It suggests that this is not an isolated incident but a recurring problem that has not been adequately addressed.
Equally troubling is that Discover made no attempt to notify me that there was a problem with my payment. I did not receive a phone call, text message, email, or any other timely communication that would have allowed me to resolve the issue before my transaction was declined. Instead, I learned there was a problem only after my purchase was denied,
causing unnecessary inconvenience and embarrassment. After contacting Discover regarding the declined transaction, the representative proceeded to tell me that I needed to be on the phone with them to verify the funds for the payment, when the funds had already been drafted from my checking account.
I believe it is unreasonable for Discover to withdraw and retain my payment while failing to timely credit my account or make my available credit reflect the cleared payment. Consumers should not have funds withdrawn from their bank accounts while simultaneously being denied access to the available credit those funds should restore. This repeated failure raises serious concerns about Discover's payment processing and customer notification practices.
I respectfully request that Discover:
• Provide a complete explanation of why my payment, which cleared my checking account on July 7, 2026, was not reflected in my available credit by July 13, 2026.
• Explain why my $42.38 purchase was declined despite my payment having cleared my bank account.
• Explain why I received no phone call, text message, email, or other notification regarding this issue.
• Correct any fees, interest charges, or negative credit reporting related to this incident.
• Explain what steps Discover will take to ensure this recurring issue does not happen again.

Do not buy large ticket items w Discover, they have no consumer protection and will side with the merchant even if the wrong color item is shipped. I had no idea they would treat me like this. Be Warned
Discover are thieves
Discover are thieves . Merchant created a loan in error and said they would refund the money but did not. dispute was placed and merchant said they would refund the money, but Discover denied the refund even though the merchant verbally told Discover that I was owed the money, Discover refused to refund the money that was due to me. not only would they not refund the money for services or products I did not receive they also would not refund the continue interest that they’re charging on the fraudulent charge. Discover are crooks.
Dispute Decision Reaffirmed Without Explanation of Standards
★☆☆☆☆
I have been a Discover cardholder since 2010.
This review relates to a credit card dispute involving a hosted online publication service that was originally published and later became inaccessible. Documentation was provided showing the original publication, archived copies of the publication while it was live, evidence that the publication later became inaccessible, and evidence of multiple attempts to contact the merchant without response.
During the dispute process, questions were raised regarding how a merchant-controlled hosted publication should be evaluated once the publication is no longer accessible and the merchant is non-responsive. Additional documentation was requested and provided.
The dispute was ultimately denied. The matter was subsequently reviewed again through Discover's executive review process and through the CFPB complaint process. The final response reaffirmed the original determination.
My concern is not limited to the outcome itself. My concern is that the final response did not identify the standards, policies, or criteria used to determine that the service was fully delivered despite the later loss of accessibility, the merchant's non-responsiveness, and the absence of any identified policy governing hosting duration or continued availability of the publication.
Consumers may disagree with the outcome of a dispute. However, transparency regarding the standards used to evaluate the dispute is important. In this instance, I did not receive a substantive explanation addressing the primary questions raised during the dispute process.
