I have filed complaints with the BBB and NY Attorney General. I experienced excessive delays (2½-hour shuttle wait and 45–60 minutes at the facility). Three days into the rental, the vehicle had... See more

Terrible Experience — I Do Not Recommend This Company
My experience with this company has been extremely frustrating. After returning the vehicle, weeks have passed and my deposit still has not been refunded. Instead of resolving the issue clearly, they continue adding charges and giving different explanations.
During the rental, I purchased the insurance they offered me specifically so I would be covered in case of any issues. Now they are also trying to charge me for toll-related fees that were never clearly explained to me when I rented the vehicle.
The worst part is the lack of transparency. A customer has the right to know exactly what they are being charged for, how much each charge is, and why money is being deducted from their deposit. Additional charges should not simply appear afterward without a clear explanation, documentation, and supporting receipts.
I have had to call, send emails, and repeatedly follow up just to get answers about my own money. A professional company should return deposits within a reasonable amount of time and immediately provide documentation for any legitimate charges.
Until they provide me with a complete itemized breakdown, official toll receipts, and a clear explanation for every dollar they are trying to charge me, I consider the handling of my rental and deposit completely unacceptable.
Be very careful before renting from this company. Keep all of your receipts, contracts, insurance documents, and carefully review any charges they try to add afterward.
They will steal your credit card information, and make many fraudulent claims...so check your credit card statements when you get home...if they offered you a "free upgrade", decline it...they are lying!!!
Horrible company rented my vehicle days in advance plan my family trip around the vehicle. To arrive day of pick up and be told the Van is not here .had to cancel my whole trip
Awful experience. The rental office was outside of the airport, the location of the shuttle pickup to get to the office was difficult to find, and then the shuttle took forever. Then they told me the additional insurance was going to be $10 a day and charged my credit card $405. They have not corrected this charge yet. Furthermore, it's been over a week since I returned the car and they still have not refunded my deposit of $200. Flat out worst experience I have ever had with a rental car company!!!
They were given incorrect information over the phone regarding vehicle return fees, and they refused to correct it. We were charged double upon returning the car, even though we had clearly specified the drop-off location. When we received the receipt days later, they refused to make an adjustment. We also received a $50 fine and were charged an additional $50 to process it—an absolutely exorbitant administrative fee.
My rental was upgraded free of charge. There were no long lines and returning the vehicle is seamless and quick. Would definately rent from Drivo again and again.

The staff was not very friendly. I was given a lower class car than the one I reserved. I told them explicitly, they said tough, gave no resolution. Also, they did not warn me there was a school zone right outside the rental place even valid sunday morning without blinking!!! and i got 2 tickets which Drivo add a $50 PER TICKET BS charge to, total scam, predatory practice, too late to get recourse. Saved nothing. They acted like a fly by night, low cost, stick-it-to-you with unethical fees, 100%. A horrid example of "ensh**ttification" and the results of a board of directors and shareholders that don't give a darn about screwing over customers.

Hidden fees and terrible customer serviceI booked through Ace, but dealing with Drivo was a complete nightmare. The initial price looked cheap, but they forced me to pay unexpected fees and extra insurance at the counter. The staff was unhelpful and the wait times for the shuttle were way too long. Avoid this company if you want to avoid hidden costs.

JFK Airport rental:
JFK Airport rental:
1) Ace Rental claims to be a JFK rental, but they are not at JFK.
2) Once there, it took a long time to get the car.
3) The car was old, roughly 50k miles.
4) The car can't be driven into most states (not a national company).
5) They repeatedly asked if I wanted insurance, as they all do. The clerk was friendly and nice. I politely declined again and again as always. He charged $500+ for the insurance two days after I left with the car.
5) I called to have the charges removed, and they said, "Sure, as soon as we look at the video of you at the counter." They promised 2 days. After 3 days they said sorry, please wait. After 10 days, "Sorry, please wait."
6) They are smart, they make a lot of money with this scam unless they get put in jail. But who has the resources to enforce this?

the fine plus the charged me $100 administrative fees.
when I called to question the fees , no one speaks proper english, the just ignore me, they are terrible and a total RIPOFF.I will never rent with them again.

I had a very disappointing experience with Drivo.
When I made my reservation online, I declined the insurance option because I planned to use my credit card’s rental car coverage. At no point during the booking process was it clearly stated or properly warned that I was required to have my own personal auto insurance policy in order to rent the vehicle. This is important information that should be clearly disclosed before allowing customers to complete and prepay a reservation.
Another issue is the cancellation fee. When you prepay for a reservation, the website does not make it clear that a $150 fee will be charged if you cancel. Customers should be made fully aware of such a significant cancellation penalty before paying.
The customer service experience was also frustrating. When I contacted them with straightforward questions about whether I could rent the car without a personal insurance policy, I could not get a clear yes or no answer. The responses were always things like “maybe,” “might,” or “it depends.” If a customer is asking whether they meet the requirements to rent a vehicle, the company should be able to provide a clear and definitive answer.
Overall, I feel that important terms were not clearly communicated during the booking process, and the customer service was unable to provide clear answers when I needed clarification. I would not recommend Drivo based on my experience.

Stay away from this car rental agency. Even though the car was already paid for and insured, they signed me up for additional insurance. The Visa card was supposed to be used only to place a hold for the amount, but I was ripped off for an extra $639 for five days.
I returned the car with a full tank and no damage (it was filmed upon return, and I was told everything was fine). A few days later, there was another surprise: apparently, the car was damaged. When returning it, I had asked for written confirmation that everything was in order, but I was told it wasn't necessary.

I usually don’t write reviews, but my experience with Drivo at JFK was so frustrating and disastrous that I felt compelled to share it.
Renting from Drivo was honestly one of the worst decisions I have ever made. Even more than two weeks after returning the car, they are still charging me for various unexplained services and fees. Once you swipe your card, it feels like you have somehow agreed to charges you were never clearly informed about. There is no proper upfront breakdown or transparency about these charges.
The customer service experience has been equally terrible. When I call to question the charges, the representatives are rude and keep giving generic, scripted answers instead of actually addressing the issue. They don’t provide a proper breakdown immediately. Instead, you are told to wait 24 hours, and if you still don’t receive the information, you have to call again and start the process all over.
But the worst part of the experience happened when we returned the car. After returning the vehicle, we were forced to wait more than 30–40 minutes for their shuttle/drop-off van to take us back to JFK airport. That delay caused us to miss our flight. As a result, we had to spend the entire night at the airport and take the next day’s flight.
A rental car company should make the entire process easy and predictable, especially when operating at an airport. Instead, this experience created unnecessary stress, additional expenses, and ultimately caused us to miss our flight.
This was one of the worst rental car experiences of my life. My strongest recommendation is: DO NOT USE DRIVO. Better to walk, crawl, take public transportation, or even cancel your trip than deal with this company.
Never again, Drivo.

This company is the worst, DO NOT RENT FROM HERE! First off they forced us at the front desk when we were picking up the car to go online and leave a "positive review" in order to get the car (that should have tipped us off as to what we were in for)! After we turned the car in, what they didn't tell us was that they were going to hold a $200 "security deposit" on my card and that after 21 days I could call them and get it back (this was supposedly to cover and tolls that we may have incurred). Mind you, they dont tell you this, I had to disscover this on my own! The really criminal thing though is that it is up to me to call them 21 days after my rental was over otherwise they keep the money! To make matters worse, I called them 21 days later and they then told me it was 21 "business days" and weekend days don't count! This is absolutely absurd and should be illegal. Once again, it was up to me to call them back to request the refund because no longer was it a hold on my card, it was an actual charge! I wonder how much money they make from this scam because so many folks dont even realize that they charged their card for both the rental and the security deposit as separatecharges. I hope this review either puts them out of business or changes this practice because it is not right on any level!

I wish I could give ACE / Drivo ZERO stars!!! They are HORRIBLE…don’t rent from them!!! They advertise low prices if you prepay for your car rental but when you get there, they REFUSE to accept your car insurance and force you to buy theirs or you lose your car rental. I have NEVER had other car rental places refuse to accept my car insurance…this was the first time EVER. So I had to pay close to $300 extra. In my opinion, this is a big SCAM. Classic car rental bait & switch.

The worst customer service ever. I returned a car early. I didn't receive a refund for the car or the extra insurance. The agent never informed me that an early return wouldn't receive a refund.

Nice car, good rate, good service. However, they charged a deposit to my credit card which was never refunded. I had to call them to ask for the money back.
Golly gee!

Horrific Experience!! I rented from Newark Airport and upon return was charged $250 for transporting my special needs daughter’s service dog, which was crated, because the manager told me company policy is dogs aren’t allowed in their cars!! Not even crated service dogs!! The clerk who initially assisted with the return said he was charging me a cleaning fee for crumbs that were in the back seat. Wow! No crated service dogs and no crumbs allowed. Got it. Drivo Rent a Car shame on you!! I have already written a complaint letter to the owner of Drivo and their customer service department with pictures showing the condition of the car was excellent besides some crumbs. What a disgusting company gouging customers with unwarranted and ficticious cleaning fees! I can only hope the company corrects this immediately and issues me a full refund along with an appropriate apology letter.
