Worst products out… Fabric pods (intense black) isn’t permanent, starts fading after a couple of washes & makes clothes look worse than before I dyed them… Also Dylan Dark detergent doesn’t even work... See more

Bad experience
Bad experience, like many other reviewers. All-in-one colour pod in Olive Green ruined a set of cotton beddings, leaving them with blue specs all over the textile. Green colour came out okeish, but the splatters of blue stains make it unsightly at the end. I am really surprised by Dylon audacity to keep this product on the market despite so much negative feedback on it.
A spectacular waste of time and money.
I'd previously used the older version of the Dylon machine dyes - the ones which came in a packet - with success, in the same front-loading washing machine. I was therefore not anticipating any problems with this product (Dylon Smoke Grey All-in-1 Fabric Dye). How wrong I was. The dye simply does not dissolve or disperse properly, leaving streaky, spotted, uneven, ruined fabric. I tried following the instructions precisely, putting the pod in the machine with weighed damp towels and running a non-eco 40°C cotton cycle. Then I tried emptying another dye pod into the drum and putting (different) damp towels on top. Then I tried dissolving the dye in hot water and pouring it into the drum before putting more old towels on top. Then I tried dissolving the dye in hot water, putting the dyed liquid in an empty pod on top of the fabric and running the program. A disaster every time - a quite spectacular waste of time and money. I will edit my review to address any PR response from Dylon.
Dylon = Terrible!
Terrible product. Read mixed reviews and was stupid to give it a go. I bought 2 tubs of the grey dye. Just wanted to change a light coloured pair of cotton tracksuit bottoms. I followed the instructions properly. After 1 tub there was no change. After 2nd tub. Very slight change but small blue dots all over the trousers now which will not come out.
Ruined Washing Machine
I never complain about products but I have to write about this experience. I followed the aftercare instructions (something like 2 follow-up washes) and then I washed some whites and they come out covered in black spots. On further investigation the plastic ring is soaking in black dye still. 1 day later of scrubbing and 90 degree washes + doing special washes with cleaning products... the dye is still inside the washing machine. Tomorrow, I will be pulling the plastic ring out again to get back to scrubbing. Not looking forward to it. So ruined clothes and washing machine all because I wanted to save some cash by repurposing my jumper. In hindsight def not worth it.
Has ruined my washing machine
Completely ruined my washing machine. Having used the black dylon in washing machine dye......3 weeks on and about 40 million empty cycles run on every number at every temp with bleach etc etc....I am still getting black flecks of dye on all my white washing.....my washing machine is completely ruined...thanks Dylon....heed this warning people....don't do it!!
The dye worked but after several washes…
The dye worked but after several washes as per the instructions the granules are still in the drum and around the door . I wipe it round after every wash but i think my machine is ruined
Waste of shirt and money
White shirt , trying to turn intense black but ended up brown. Total waste of money and of a perfectly good shirt which had to be binned.
Great!!! Follow instructions and don’t overload washing machine.
I don’t know why this has so many negative reviews. I can only assume that people have been putting the wrong fabrics or too much fabric in with the dye. I have used these pods at least 12 times. Always come out perfect.

I used a navy Dylon machine dye on khaki dungarees & they came out amazing, then I used a peony pink machine dye on white dungarees & they’re now an awful dirty white colour!
Maybe it depends on the material of the item?!
I should be done by Consumer standards!
I should be done by Consumer standards!
This product doesn’t do as it states on its packaging bought Green jet black and it hasn’t even come out Gray just an off white!
Follow the instructions closely!
From the amount of bad complaints and a one star And shock people ever buy this product I wish I’d seen this rating prior to buying it myself and I’m going to add this to my catalogue of companies to boycott
Absolute disaster - totally ruined sofa
Used sandy beige machine dye on 100% cotton sofa loosecover. Totally ruined. Very patchy colour and it’s covered in blue flecks like a felt pen or biro has leaked. Dylon said it is because of the fire retardant cover on the covers. Rubbish. They didn’t even ask if they were original ones from Tetrad, or replacement. If they were replacement ones they wouldn’t have had retardant on them. The covers are old and pure cotton that have been washed dozens of times. Reading the reviews this happens all the time. Dylon are just not interested. Now we have a sofa that looks horrendous. Would have been better keeping it as it was. Can’t afford to replace them so now we’re lumbered. Thanks a lot Dylon. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
Don't buy this CRAP!
DO NOT BUY!!!!!!
DO NOT BUY!!!!!!
I used this in my washing machine. At the end I used a cup of bleach in the drum as suggested on the packet and ran two empty cycles with only detergent in (one more than suggested) and wiped round the inside of the machine including around the rubber parts. Then I washed bedclothes and clothes and they came out destroyed!!! Black spots all over laundry. Not impressed. After reading other reviews I do not expect this issue to resolve quickly. Hopefully this won't permenantly have destroyed my washing machine. This has been an expensive mistake that I will never make again!
Disappointing, waste of money and time
I bought a pod of black machine dye and followed the instructions carefully to brighten up two pairs of faded black cotton work trousers, one of which had three small bleach marks on the leg. After all the "faff", the trousers look as dull as before and the bleach marks are still visible. This was an infuriating waste of money both in terms of the product itself and horrifying amount spent on electricity in trying to clean the washing machine afterwards. I do not recommend this product, it clearly does not work.
Green, the new Grey
Dylon, All in One. Smoke Grey, Pod.
Needed to colour my chef whites to grey. 3 brand new 100 % cotton Jackets. Pre washed . Followed the instructions exactly and I now have 3 Sage green chef jackets. Never dyed clothes before, but didn't want to be wasteful. Might as well have thrown them straight in the bin.
It removed more colour than it added to…
It removed more colour than it added to both 100% cotton and mixed a blended viscose. The tulip did this once, then did it again and again and finally again even on cotton when I learned my lesson not touse this most expensive brand. Realised this is why i must have always had better results with RIT powder and idye natural and poly. I was merely adding more red to reds and it removed the red already in it to a burnt ugly faded red/orange.
Disappointed
Totally disappointed in this is product, paid 30 Dollars for nothing, the clothes look even worse, have patches on it. I did exactly what it said on the instructions but didn't do anything at all. Should have read the reviews before buying. Useless product, waste of money!!!!!!!!!
Used Sandy Beige on pure cotton and…
Used Sandy Beige on pure cotton and linen and both items are covered in blue and pink blotches. I followed the instructions perfectly. Items have now been thrown away. Utter waste of money .
Black dye
Black dye is not fit for purpose and not of satisfactory quality. Unusable - not what is advertised on packaging and does not match the seller's description, unfortunately. Use the product twice for certainty however it was ineffective on both occasions. Communicate with customer services at Dylon however they were unable to assist in anyway.
Don’t bother
Followed the instructions throughout, and Dylon completely ruined my bedding. I made a complain and was told to complete a lengthy form with a number of different photos attached as requested, dylon have ignored me since. Waste of money and time. Steer clear.
