Stunning and unique piece of furniture

We have just taken delivery of a walnut table top for our kitchen and it is stunning. Paying up front for a piece of furniture you’ve not seen may be a leap of faith but our dealings with Anna have always been helpful open and honest and our expectations have been exceeded. We can’t thank them enough.

£12 for a website generated estimate?

I really wanted to buy a desktop from here. Having searched everywhere, based on the photos this looked like the place.

Sadly you cannot even complete the automated quotation box without being asked for a £12 fee. It won't close.

The website proclaims the personal touch, but you can't even get a ballpark figure from their robot without paying £12
"In these troubling times, we hope you understand"

This isn't plastic surgery, it's furniture. It's not a consultation with a surgeon, it's a website robot.

I wish them luck, in these troubling times.

Charging to quote

Sorry guys, while I'm not looking for the cheapest deal in town, charging £12 for a quote is bizarre. At this point you are relying close to 100% on word of mouth to get any business. I don't know you, and there's no way I'm paying for that

If you need to charge for quotes I'd recommend 2 things:
1. I'd recommend putting up a few (honest) price examples of previous builds (or dummy builds) with a disclaimer that prices may fluctuate over time due to inflation / material costs etc
2. Give a better explanation of why you need to charge - I'm assuming there's more to it but if people are just paying £12 for an 'online tool' as you put it, then frankly, it's absurd

It's a pity, assuming the positive reviews are actually real it sounds like you're good at what you do

Stood the test of time

Adam made me a wonderful bar, which acts as my dining table, in 2017. I've just sent photos to him and Anna to show how it's stood the test of time. It still looks absolutely stunning and I still love it!

It's so refreshing to see someone that takes pride in the work they do. Nothing was too much trouble and kept us in the loop at all times. Table and bench looks amazing and of high quality, everyone comments how fab it looks.

Extortion

Real shame. I wanted to look into this seriously but I'm not paying £12 for the privilege of finding out that it's somehting I can't afford. The website is not good either so it's not as though you can make a clear judgement before being extorted of your £12 for precisely nothing.

Pay to get a quote! unbelievable

Really wanted to buy a British made desk, started to put the dimensions into the calculator.... then please pay £12 to access the online quote tool. Seriously, do you want customers! I did not pay and have not experienced anything like this, have an online tool that is free or don't bother.

How on earth is it reasonable to pay £12 just for the quote ? Does someone really manually do each calculation on paper and needs to get paid ? Just use an automated calculator its 2022 !
Ridiculous, absolutely useless website.

Walnut table

We have recently received our bespoke luxury walnut table from Earthy Timber and it's stunning. Their service is also very good. Initially I was a bit concerned about having to pay for the table upfront and having to accept the product without having seen it before but I did not need to worry as the table has met all expectations.

We had a great experience purchasing…

We had a great experience purchasing and receiving from Earthy Timber. Our beautiful Walnut dining table was delivered within the timeframe they promised and to the exact specifications we asked for. We will look to Earthy Timber in the future for further wood tables/countertops for our home. We would definitely recommend purchasing from Earther Timber, especially if you want a beautiful live edge wood table for your home.

The worst experience I’ve ever had with…

EDIT: August 2024, hope the company is still enjoying the money they got for nothing. NO refund.

Edit: March 2023 never heard about refund or sale. They must be delighted.

Edit: Company passed all my details on to advertising and spam companies and I have been inundated with unwelcome calls.

Edit: Update after asking the company to remove my details from their system under data protection terms.

What do you imagine is unreasonable about this sort of simple request? Now the company claim to have a 'legal team' who have reviewed and rejected the request. Plainly from the website they don't have an in house 'legal team' so have supposed bluffing will work. I am making a complaint to the ICO. Judge for yourself if as the 'respectable' person you are (as the company have insinuated in writing that I am not) you want your personal information treated in this way.

What do they want with your personal information and why won't they delete it? Worth asking yourself if you are going to buy from them.

Edit: Update after the repsonse from the company:

Publishing my emails without my permission, including the very email in which I asked them to delete my details from their systems and refrain from contacting me again or using my details (unless about a refund), speaks volumes about this company and the way they behave. Publishing a data protection request is an interesting take on data protection. You as a 'respectable' potential customer may want to take a view on this.

There were no contacts made as listed below they are simply fictional.

Calling me out as a 'non respectable customer' is also rather unpleasant ...bear in mind when you deal with this company that this may also happen to you after you've given them more than £2k.

I leave it to you to judge whether you want to be treated like this as 'respectable' people. Clearly their aim is to publicly disparage and belittle me.

Who was the person being paid here? This is 'respectable' customer service........is it?

The worst experience I’ve ever had with any company. And such a high price fo pay for nothing. Awful.

Significant delays in making the item. No comms or updates about why that was the case.

Then when it was finally done an email asking me to carry the item to the place I wanted it. Requesting I ‘assist’ with the delivery and prepare to carry the item around when delivery costs hundreds. Nearly a year later and they are still emailing me about ‘storage’ and have failed to offer a refund. They said they might sell it for less but of course they haven’t done that either.

I even asked them to stop emailing me but they keep doing it anyway. They have to have the last word and talk to you as if you are 6 years old. Truly dreadful.

Clearly just flat out laughing at me for giving them money for absolutely nothing. Sickening stuff.

Expensive, awful lesson in the who not to buy from stakes and no doubt they will reply to this in the same hideous ‘we did all we can to support’ tone they take in every single communication. Their comms just make a bad situation worse. Read them and judge for yourself if they reply to this. I don’t know how they even dare.

Simply put they didn’t make the item for ages and when it was finally done asked me to help deliver it - when I’d specifically looked for a delivery service with the item and this was hundreds on top of the price.

Bank transfers should have alerted me this would be a rip off but I was too trusting. What an idiot I was.

Don’t make the same mistake.

If you do buy from them please insist on paying by credit card (they won’t take it) and then consider what recourse you will have (it’s literally none).

And shop somewhere else.

Avoid this terrible company like the plague.

I bought a new oak desk in the end from another small company whose comms were great, who explained a delay and behaved with professionalism throughout. And who delivered it without asking me to carry it anywhere.

What a contrast.

Find someone better when you’re looking for a company as when this goes horribly wrong they won’t refund you (and will also threaten you with ‘storage’ charges!).

If it wasn’t so utterly disgusting it would be funny. If I could give no stars I’d do that.

Shop somewhere else.

This company are the very lowest I’ve ever dealt with. I’ve lost my hard earned savings. Don’t lose yours.

Please find below a copy of communication between Earthy Timber Refined Wooden Furniture and the ‘Customer’ who does not wish for their name to be disclosed.

As clearly stated on our website and in our Terms and Conditions all our unique furniture are bespoke made, to size, to order. We don’t offer refunds for custom-built products. Our clearly communicated lead time during pandemic last year was in the range of 14-15 weeks and the bespoke desk was offered for the delivery within the agreed timeframe.

We are glad to hear you are ok. We contacted you on 9 separate occasions without any success, you disregarded our emails and phone calls. We started to worry you may not be well, I’m pleased to hear this is not the case.
We always confirm customer’s availability before delivering our bespoke products, your piece looks very beautiful and has been safely stored awaiting your communication.
Your desk has been handcrafted to size, to order. It is entirely unique therefore refunds for the bespoke commissions are not possible, this has been clearly communicated in our Terms and Conditions that you ticked as read and understood when placing an order.
As your desk is so pretty and we have invested into your piece so much more than you paid for it, we would be happy to try to find a buyer for it. You would have to wait for your refund though until it is sold and there is no guarantee we can re-sell it.

I just wanted to update you with regards to your desk. I’m really sorry but unfortunately, we were not able to re-sell your piece to date.
Can you let me know how you wish to proceed; would you like me to try and reduce the price perhaps by a third or a half?
As all our furniture are handcrafted to size to order it is tricky to make different measurements appealing if there is no incentive to potential buyer.
If the desk does not sell in the next month or so, we will not be able to store it in our workshop any longer free of charge.

You charged thousands of pounds for an item you significantly delayed making and then asked me to help deliver (delivery itself costing hundreds).

You fail to offer a refund.

You state you made many attempts to contact me but that’s completely irrelevant - in reality you sent a couple of emails asking me to be a remover. I’m not one. You failed to deliver. At no point did you say I’d have to carry the items around for hundreds of pounds.

And then you send emails in that tone, lecturing me as if you are paying me vs the other way around.

Please don’t call that ‘supportive’ or speak to me as if I am a small child. You have a great deal of my money. And you appear to find that condescendingly amusing. Insinuations? Who do you think you are?

And then you can’t even follow a request at this stage.

Don’t threaten me again with storage charges.

You’ve had far too much of my money which I saved hard to afford something really nice. And which is now lining your pocket.

For absolutely nothing.

I’m very aware that having taken a bank transfer (I should have guessed how this would go when you wouldn’t take credit cards I’ll never made that error again) I have little recourse and can only say how utterly and totally disgusted I am with this entire experience. Your comms, frankly, simply ice the cake.

So this is clear as I have asked you before and you’ve ignored me twice now - please don’t contact me again unless with a refund. I

I can’t read any more of your emails speaking down to me and pretending yon ‘care’ without feeling perfectly sick about the money I’ve lost.

If I’d wanted to dontate thousands to charity I’d have done it directly. You’re actually almost unbelievable.

Email me re a refund or don’t email me further.

Further under the data protection act I require you to now remove all my details from your systems and to confirm in writing this has been done. I don’t trust you with my banking or address or personal details and you should immediately remove them from your systems including any computing, paper records printouts or other means. Accounting records should be anonymised appropriately.

This request should be carried out within 30 days max. And confirmed to me. If you fail to do this I will report you to the data commission in 30 days time and make a data protection complaint claim against you.

You have my permission to retain my email only and to contact me only to

1. Confirm a refund and or arrange one
2. Confirm your compliance with this data request

And that is all.

You do not have my permission from this point forward to use my details in any way, retain my other details under any circumstances or contact me except as per these specific instructions.

Man cave bar tops

I had two bar tops made to my specifications main bar top with live edge was easy to navigate website put in what I needed fine sanded and lacquered both top are exactly what I ask for no problem with dealing with this company met Anna when I collected my bar tops easy to deal with

Bankrupt is the name of the game

Any company that charges £12 for you to use their website deserves to go bankrupt. Shows the sleezy character of their owners and the shameless business practices. Thank god for capitalism and that I can take my business elsewhere but their strategy was so bad I thought to drop by and leave a review to help others who might be looking at this company.
