Engineer was on time
Engineer was on time, very helpful and explained everything really well. Finished in good time no fuss and plenty warning when power being disconnected. Thank you
Appointment easily arranged
Appointment easily arranged, engineer was thorough, professional and friendly.
Meter replacement
On arrival, the engineer had to replace two existing 'legacy' meters with a single smart meter. That entailed quite a bit of rewiring which he carried out efficiently and neatly with no fuss. Very friendly, communicative and helpful. Great job.
Easy to switch
Switching to EON has been really easy and straightforward. I couldn't ask for better than that.
I warned E.ON in writing about an incorrect missed-payment marker. It happened anyway.
I am a vulnerable E.ON Next customer with mental-health difficulties. This has been one of the worst experiences of my life.
The central issue is simple: I warned E.ON in writing about the exact failure I feared, completed the affordability process, checked their work and obtained assurances. The exact thing I warned them about happened anyway.
Earlier this year E.ON upheld a previous affordability complaint after missing account flags allowed its automated system to override an agreed arrangement. It also acknowledged inadequate vulnerability handling and told me the flags had been updated.
That is why, on 12 June, I warned E.ON BEFORE the next change that another automated change could leave me facing an unaffordable payment or, in my own words, "worse, a missed payment."
I completed Paylink on 1 July. On 3 July I spent over 30 minutes going through my finances again. A £0 arrangement until 3 October was agreed, and when I raised the missed-payment risk again I was reassured it would not happen.
Even afterwards my account showed an £83.41 Direct Debit and another agent initially saw £10 rather than £0, so I kept checking.
E.ON confirmed no payment would be collected before 20 October and that debt collection or adverse action was paused: "everything is paused."
Despite ALL of this, E.ON reported a missed payment for July.
I complained on 20 August and immediately warned them to prevent the same problem for August. The complaint call became so distressing that I told E.ON I was experiencing suicidal thoughts and thoughts of self-harm. E.ON already knew I was vulnerable.
During the complaint process I was told the reporting was E.ON's fault and should not have happened under the £0 arrangement. While the marker remained, my ability to access emergency borrowing for essential commitments including rent was materially affected.
E.ON later said the July marker had been corrected, the correction submitted on 7 September, and no further missed-payment markers would be added.
But I still had to pursue it myself. I disputed it with TransUnion, which upheld my dispute on 23 September. E.ON's own Datashare team said my query was valid and changed July from "1" to "U".
That is one correction. I still lack clear confirmation of what was reported for August and September across the credit-reference agencies, or what E.ON's systems will report next.
The £0 arrangement was supposed to reduce pressure. Instead, it has forced me to project-manage E.ON: checking bills, payment settings, credit reporting and safeguards, chasing people and repeatedly asking the same questions.
This is the wider problem: I repeatedly ask clear questions and receive answers to different questions.
While the complaint was STILL unresolved, E.ON issued a £519.19 statement on 22 September saying the balance was payable within seven days despite the £0 arrangement still being active.
I asked whether this would be treated as late/missed or negatively reported to my credit file. The first response asked me for an up-to-date meter reading before addressing my other questions. After I provided it and asked again, I was told a late-payment fee would still be added.
That did NOT answer the credit-reporting question.
I repeatedly asked for written communication because of my health. After several calls, E.ON confirmed communications would remain in writing. The next day my handler tried calling twice again and asked me to arrange another call.
I have had to ask yet again what E.ON is reporting while I pay £0 under its arrangement, and what it will report after 3 October if a replacement is still being processed. I am still waiting for a clear answer.
E.ON has confirmed my original Executive/second-opinion email and attachments were escalated to a manager. With the arrangement about to end, I completed another Paylink assessment, once again trying to prevent the next failure.
I did not ignore E.ON or wait until something went wrong. I did the opposite. I warned them in advance, completed their processes, checked the account, obtained written assurances and pursued the credit reporting myself.
Yet I am still effectively acting as quality control for my own energy account.
An affordability arrangement should support a vulnerable customer, not create months of fear about bills, automated systems and credit-file damage.
I want senior E.ON management to investigate the full chronology, establish what is configured on my account and what is being reported across the credit-reference agencies, and make sure the next arrangement is set up properly.
I want this resolved so I can stop living around an energy complaint. I will update this review if E.ON properly investigates and resolves it.

The change from Scottish power to e on…
The change from Scottish power to e on was easy. The only issue I had was when I needed to get the latest electric and gas readings from the meters. Electric was easy but could not turn the gas meter screen on. Fortunately I had a reading from a few days before the transfer. I think Scottish power had turned it off for some reason. Will try again in a few days time.
