EXTREMELY disappointed with Expedia

I traveled from Germany to the U.S. for vacation. When I arrived in the U.S. I discovered my bag didn't make it. Turned out it never made it on the plane in Frankfurt, and I finally received it 2.5 days later after I had to buy items that I needed. On the return trip, my flight from Houston to Frankfurt was delayed by 2 hrs which caused us to miss the connecting flight in Frankfurt. The flight was re-booked, but then that one was cancelled because of a lightning storm. I was given a voucher for the train to get to Nuremberg which was the final destination. I contacted Expedia about it, and they had to verify everything with the airline. On the 2nd contact with Expedia, they said the airline had approved the refund for the cancelled flight and it would take 4-10 days for me to receive it. Over 2 weeks later I still hadn't received it, contacted Expedia again and this time they told me that they received a revert from the airline that In this case a refund is not possible, because the ticket and every coupon were used by the passenger. If this was the case, then why did they tell me initially that I would receive a refund for the cancelled flight and the airline had approved it??? I did get the refund quickly for the items that I had to buy due to the delayed bag, but now this for the cancelled flight. If they had told me initially that I could not get it for this reason, I would have been OK with that, but I ended up 6.5 hours late getting home after I had been up and on the go for over a day and a half because of all of this. I have used Expedia before, but this time I am EXTREMELY disappointed with them and how they dealt with this.

This is a genuine review, look me up

I am truly astonished at the negative reviews, I did not expect to see that at all for Expedia. I have been using them for years and I have never had any issues. I have had to cancel 2 major trips in all my dealings with Expedia and the easiest way was to contact them via the chat, ask for a representative and state my reasons. Yes the wait time may be lengthy but everytime they have resolved my issues. I have always had my accommodations refunded, shuttle reservations cancelled and refunded and flights have not all been refunded but I have received credit which I have used on future travel. I find customer service to be responsive and efficient. I can't believe that I am the only person totally satisfied with Expedia. I have been loyal to them due to all the convenience and savings. I am a real reviewer, I have several reviews here on Trustpilot and I tell it like it is.

I still wait my refund for canceled tickets since 6 months.
EXPEDIA=SCAMMER Company please avoid this travel agency.
They will even not respond your emails. They will. Immediately cancel your flight and never refund your money. The call center people are all a joke amd will never help you

Unbelievably frustrating!

As is often said, I would give zero stars if it were possible. Four months and countless phone calls for a simple refund. I honestly cannot understand how it is economically possible to run a company in this way. They have wasted so many working hours not giving me my money back. It wasn’t an expensive flight so really crazy. I will delete the app and not be booking again.

Had a good deal for a couple of days in…

Had a good deal for a couple of days in Bristol. Booked it then saw review and panicked! Rang the hotel they said they hadn't received the booking. Rang hotelopia got through to chap who was very helpful and confirmed the booking ref with the hotel. Who when I rang back had the booking after all. Arrived lastweek and no problem!

The worse experience I have ever had…

The worse experience I have ever had with this website. it's Extremely bugging and raising the price for the flights once the payment detail is entered. Please stay away from this site as I am sure they use this technique to rob the customer at the last second. I will never use their services again. I wish I could give it -5 stars but there is no option that's why pressing 1 star with a broken heart...

Awful experience

Awful experience. I searched Expedia for "Hotels in Geneva" and picked the cheapest one. Well, it turns out the hotel I booked isn't in Geneva. It's in France. I'm in the wrong country with the wrong currency because Expedia is dreadful. They won't refund me because it was "booked by you". Burn in hell.

Hotel Residencia del Paseo

Hotel Residencia del Paseo, Las Terrenas, Domenian Republic

What a fool, we booked over Expedia this expensive hotel with nice pool and much stuff arround, we came there and the pool was not working, no water. No wifi no electricity no water for toilette - really nice 2 days.
People at reception were not English speaking - it was proposed

They don’t do any refund, Expedia too. It’s ok that afterthe hurricane is special situation but we feel fooled, they should repair their hotel before offering all stuff which is not there

Car insurance is a big cheating.

Booked a rental car.Also booked a collision/ protection package.When we arrived car agency told us they don 't accept the insurance. So we had to book a 2 one.they told us, that they tried to manage that Problem with Expedia. But nothing happened. For me it's a kind of cheating/ripp off. Won't book a car with expedia again.

NEVER BOOK WITH EXPEDIA GERMANY! THEY LIE

I booked two tickets with Expedia Germany but had to reschedule them because I got COVID. The booking terms stated that it was possible to change the travel dates. When I contacted Expedia to explain them my situation, they first wanted me to give them my new trip dates! HOW CAN I KNOW WHE I AM GOING TO TRAVEL, IF I AM SICK AND NEED TO GET A VISA! After arguing for days, they finally gave me a voucher that I vould use to reschedule my trip. I have the visa and looked for new tickets on their website. I called to book them, and Expedia's rep told me that those rates apply to new bookings only! The rate I have to pay is waaaay higher! It does not make sense! They are thieves and scamers. Do never book with them!!

UPDATE: Expedia Germany is LYING AGAIN! I received an automatic reply to my email, but it does NOT have any conversation ID. It only states that you will contact me within 24 hours. I guess prices will have gone up by then!

NEW UPDATE: They are charging 366 euro to change the trip dates and no reply from their customer service via email. They claim KLM has that rate for travelers rebooking their flight!

Such a scam...

Such a scam.... Booked a flight with them and i was promised MULTIPLE TIMES that i could cancel them within 24 hours of booking and receive a refund. Well. I tried to cancel them 16 hours after booking and i just couldn't do it? After multiple calls and chats with the not so accomodating customer service it turns out that my flight could only be managed by the Airline. Thanks for lying to me, Expedia. In the end i did not recieve a refund, i am very angry and i will definitely avoid them from now on. F you expedia

Extremely poor support

Extremely poor support
I had booked a flight via Expedia with Lufthansa. The flight was moved forward and the expedia app missed to notify us - therefore we missed the flight. In exchange we with some battle received a voucher for a coming trip which we would like to use now. Several calls result in the message that we cannot use the voucher with expedia but we should go to Lufthansa to redeem the voucher. Lufthansa tells us they did not issue the voucher and we should use it with expedia. A very frustrating process and the only way is to give this to a lawyer now. We will never use expedia again!

NEVER EVER EXPEDIA AGAIN!!!

Booked a rental car with Expedia - first of all Expedia mentioned a wrong pick up station in the booking confirmation (additional 30 USD with the cab to get to the right station). Then Avis charged me too much... found only out after the journey. When contacting Expedia about that they said it is not their task to contact Avis and that I have to do it on my own. I could not get a hold of Avis - I told that to Expedia... they said that is not their problem!! NEVER EVER BOOK VIA THAT SITE!!! Everytime I booked via Expedia, some problems occured and customer service not existent... THINK TWICE BEFORE CHOOSING EXPEDIA!!! Better pay a couple of bucks more with another booking platfrom - therefore no problems!!!

I don´t recomend Expedia at all

First, there was a cancelation of a flight. After that we had to wait for hours after we tried to call them and we were put on hold. After that they promised to reschedule the flight. In the queue of the check in of this flight we received an email that it was not possible to reschedule the flight, which was about 4 hours after we called them and they told us that they reschedule the flight.

Expedia Service is useless

Even though United offers free re-scheduling for their flights originated from the U.S., nobody at the expedia team could help us with re-booking our flight. No we are stuck here just because nobody at Expedia even tries to help with anything, worst service ever! I will never use Expedia again

Bad customer service and baggage scam

As many others our tickets were also downgraded so that they did not include luggage anymore. Upon multiple request to the customer service they were not able to provide a detailed invoice, showing which options had been booked additionally. Very disappointed in the service.

Easy to use to book accommodation.

Easy to use to book accommodation.

I often use Expedia to book accommodation abroad - I don't use it for flights as I have other go-to portals for that. It's always easy to use and find suitable accommodation quickly. The price tends to be more than e.g. Airbnb, but for nice and cheap hotels, it's definitely my favourite place to book.

Baggage Scam

If you’re thinking about booking through Expedia, think again.We booked 3 economy standard tickets from Toronto to Croatia, with luggage, seat selection, and date changes included. Upon confirmation and payment, our tickets were switched to economy light, meaning our bags (etc) were no longer covered. You can imagine our shock and anger when finding out that the baggage fees alone were over $500 round trip, which should have been included! We even have screen shots and a screen recording replicating our entire booking process, which show what what we booked and paid for. Yet after two weeks of countless calls and emails, they refuse to validate the evidence and acknowledge their error. It appears to be an intentional scheme where they are exploiting the fact that customers won’t have images detailing exactly what they booked, making it near impossible to prove. Expedia has completely lost our trust, and as frequent travelers we will have to take our business elsewhere if the issue is not properly remediated. Buyer beware!
