During this time, we’ve encountered many situations that are unique to members of HM Forces, and we’ve worked hard with a number of underwriters to create policies that protect our customers’ interests.

Service person trap and false representation

I echo all of the service person reviews on this company, I'm actually disgusted that they some how got permission from the MOD to utilise this 'snare' of such a wide demographic. Renewals were typically extortionate compared to normal 'not forces snaring companies ' I have seen many military establishments allowing these people in to capture young recruits and it sucks, extortionate and horrendously bad service, fairly devious in how they manage renewals actually as you need to place yourself on hold for a long time to cancel.

It's funny when you read the 'about' section on their website

"We exist to improve the lives of those that lay their lives on the line and those who support them."

Enough said

Dishonest

I took out buildings and contents insurance with these people . In 2019 I did not receive any renewal documents , after a telephone call they arrived. The premium was 50% increase and as I had done some checking on the internet for comparable polices it was roughly £200 more than anything else.
I telephoned them to cancel the policy as was going with another provider.
To my horror these people continued with my policy and had put me on auto renewal, and debited my credit card. I DO NOT HAVE AUTO RENEWAL ON ANY POLICY AS I SHOP AROUND, AS WE ARE ENCOURAGED TO DO.
These people need to stop associating themselves with the military, Deceit and lies are not traits of anything military.
CHECK ALL POLICIES WITH THESE PEOPLE

Worse insurance ever

If there is option i would rate -5. Worse insurance company ever. got my phone dropped from 2 Storey building into hard surface and they want phone to be just a small scratch. Obviously when it get dropped from that height into hard surface it will completely shattered. They asked my phone to sent to them and later said phone is twisted and pressure been applied on both side of phone cancelled my claim. who would know how phone gonna hit the floor?
I suggest not to do insurance with this company,.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE WITH THIS COMPANY
Half of the roof in my utility room blew off in a storm last November.Six months later I am still waiting to have the claim settled and have a new roof put on.It took nearly three weeks of me ringing almost daily to get an assessor from Snapecall out to inspect the damage. They were supposed to write a report and provide an estimate to Davies Group, who they use to handle the claims. After endless phone calls and promises that the estimate would be produced they then turned around and said they couldn’t quote for the job after all.It took them three months to decide this! Then we went into lockdown due to Covid 19 and I couldn’t get any estimates myself because roofing companies ceased operating.I have since provided two estimates to the Davies Group but despite me phoning and emailing them almost daily they have done nothing.Every time we have heavy rain I have up to two buckets of water coming through leaks in the rest of the roof which has deteriorated. The stress and anxiety of having to live like this for six months has had a detrimental affect on my health and it just feels like nobody at Military Mutual cares less.Although the staff at MM are pleasant and polite, the problem seems to be with the companies they use to handle the claims.

Disappointing customer service.

Disappointing customer service and vastly overinflated insurance quotes. They are one of a handful of companies that insure in Germany and use that as leverage to charge excessive amounts for cover. An arbitrary £40 to cancel is also excessive particularly in the first month. Do not use them.

40% increase - No renewal notice warning

I had house and contents with The Military Mutual for two years. I had no need to make a claim but was happy with the price and cover they provided. This year (2019) they failed to send me a renewal notice and, when I phoned to find out what was happening, offered no apology for the anxiety and trouble I had been caused. They subsequently informed me that the renewal premium was a 40% increase over that for the previous year. Apparently, both of these actions – not sending customers a renewal notice and increasing the premium by 40% - were due to changes that took place in May 2019. I found both actions unacceptable and transferred my insurance to another provider.

Attempted to claim on a laptop.

Attempted to claim on a laptop.

Due to the fact that the laptop had an issue electrically, we were denied instantly over the phone. Honestly, what's the point of insurance if you can't claim for broken devices?

If I had lied and said I dropped it, I would've been reimbursed, so looking after the device until the day it packs in gains me nothing?

Nice one Forces Mutual, you literal pirates.

Car Insurance

Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. My insurance was sorted really quickly. Downside, still slightly on the expensive side.

Overpriced

Very good, and easy to use but over twice the price for car insurance than uk based companies. Unfortunately this the price for insuring your car in BFG, they are the only product really available and they know it

Breakdown

Paid for a breakdown cover with Forces Insurance but when needed the breakdown recovery service didn't answer any calls. I had my wife and 4 year old in the car and it was minus 3 outside. I phoned Forces Insurance Customer Service instead who did answer but said they couldn't help. They could have helped but didn't want to. They want your money but not the hassle. They should have and could have done better, disgraceful!

Reply from Forces Insurance

I am horrified to hear of your experience.

Our Pan-European Roadside Rescue scheme is managed for us by The AA in the UK and ADAC in Germany and normally their service is exemplary.

I am arranging for a full investigation on what went wrong on this occasion.

Too Expensive

Forces Insurance provide an option for service men and women serving in Germany but they seem to be getting a little bit greedy. I have 2 policies with them and both have gone up this year by at least £100 - that isn't good customer service.
The trouble is they have a customer base of people who need what they provide so they can charge the earth and get away with it. Things will change in a few years when BFG is no more.....

Needed to renew my insurance, did the usual and got a few quotes but these were the cheapest and offered the most comprehensive service. It was a renewal from the same company and the staff are very friendly and polite.
