great to deal with & can't fault prices

They do exactly what they promise. We have used them several times and will continue to do so. Late delivery that others mention is out of the hands of Fuel Tool and always down to the individual supplier of the fuel so don't be put off by this type of negative comment.

DO NOT GO NEAR ANY COMPANY THAT HAS…

DO NOT GO NEAR ANY COMPANY THAT HAS BEEN TRADING AS EVOLUTION FUELS AND ESPECIALLY A SHAUN ROWLEY. IN MY OPINION THEY ARE DELIBERATELY CONNING FOLKS OUT OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY ESPECIALLY UNSUSPECTING PENSIONERS. THEY SHOULD BE PREVENTED FROM OPERATING ANY BUSINESS WHATSOEVER....UNRELIABLE, DISHONEST AND DOWNRIGHT CROOKED BUT GOOD AT LYING WITH INCREDIBLE STORIES TO CON AN ARMY VETERAN! DISGUSTING BUNCH.

Fueltool - never again!

My experience with Fueltool was appalling. The fuel I ordered failed to turn up. A second delivery date was promised, but still the order never arrived. Turned out that Fueltool had used some fly-by-night supplier called Evolution Fuels and had been having problems with them already. Evolution Fuels never responded to emails and Fueltool themselves were worse than useless. They initially responded to emails, but then just ignored them when things got harder. I never did get the fuel. They really don't care; once they have your money they just hide behind the T&Cs which say they're not responsible for the bad suppliers they use. Fortunately, I'd paid with a Visa debit card and was able to raise a Visa chargeback with my bank and, although this took four months to complete, I eventually got my money back, but with no assistance whatsoever from Fueltool. I will never use them again.

Don't hold your breath for a refund

As feared, Fueltools take your money instantly but still no refund of overpayment after 14 days. Whilst this business model is not just Fueltools alone, and seems quite common, it does not help with the feeling that Fueltools may simply be double-dealing their customers.

Mr Whatley, we understand that not being refunded an over payment amount can be worrying, however, the contract of purchasing oil is between yourself and the supplier directly and not Fuel Tool. Suppliers are required by law to refund you the difference but each supplier on Fuel Tool have their own payment, refund terms and turnaround times so it is your responsibility to understand those terms and communicate your requirements directly to the supplier.

Pay the extra and go direct - hassle hassle hassle!

First order we placed it was claimed they tried to deliver and nobody was in, that the number provided was incorrect etc. etc. Fuel arrived the next day, but there was somebody there all day on both occasions.
Gave Fuel Tool another try and seemingly the same thing has happened yet again! Got a text, out for delivery today. You've guessed it; no delivery! Our tank isn't reachable from the road so somebody has to be in all day which is very frustrating.
Apparently it'll be here tomorrow......

This is the last time i'll be using them, even if our circumstances had not changed. We've fortunately moved to a mains gas provided property and this order was my refill at the end of our tenancy. Thank goodness!

Good

I am looking through all of these bad reviews and I do not understand where they are coming from. I have ordered over 50 times with Fueltool and I rarely seem to encounter any problems. The only problem I had was a few days before December my order didn’t come through due to a supplier which was about to be removed anyway. I received my fuel a week later with no problem. I highly recommend this company as they also have cheaper prices than what I’ve seen.

Not interested when it goes wrong....

Have use these guys a few times and up until it all went wrong ( see my HomeFuels Direct review) I had no complaints at all. Sadly, I will never be using them again however as they have, to date, never even acknowledged any of the emails I sent to them them asking for their help with a ‘supplier’ that they had offered as an option on their website, reneging on their advertised lead time.

Doubtless FuelTool will say they don’t get involved with delivery dates but I’m afraid that that’s simply not good enough when the only options you are given to make your comparison, and therefore your selection against, on their website are: the unit price, the lead time and the credit card charge....and as the unit price is directly affected by the lead time ( i.e you pay MORE for a shorter lead time) you’d think that FuelTool would want to get involved when both their customers and their other suppliers are getting ripped off by falsely advertised lead times.

In my case, the supplier that Fueltool provided as an option clearly failed to give a hoot that I’d paid extra to have it delivered within a timeframe both Fueltool and they they had advertised/promised...and when I brought it to their attention Fueltool clearly didn’t give a hoot either. So be warned, it’s all good until you need help...then you’re on your own.

Stay warm, save hundreds: go direct do use fueltool.

They looked cheaper, but I ended up ~ £500 worse off.

There is no way to tell who they will arrange to handle your order.

I specifically mailed them to check they wouldn't be using CPL Petroleum, and they assured me "The supplier you mentioned is not represented on Fuel Tool. Therefore would not be delivering to you. We only use reputable and reliable suppliers."

They were half right - that supplier isn't represented on Fueltool.
Fueltool placed my order with Homefuels direct for delivery a week later.
It turns out HomeFuels Direct subcontract the deliveries and refuse to say who they use. I waited in on the allotted day, the oil didn't arrive and I wasn't contacted with any explanation.

The next day when I eventually got through to Homefuels direct they claimed someone had tried delivery the day before but had decided to neither deliver the oil or knock on the door to say they wouldn't. I had to get very irate with Homefuels before they would state who they'd contracted to deliver the oil. Eventually someone claiming to be in charge said "no it wasn't CPL Petroleum, it was a Certas tanker, anyway we'll give you your money back so what's the problem?". A quick google later shows that CPL Petroleum "is a trading name of Certas Energy UK Ltd".

So you've no control over who may or may not be delivering your oil you'll go through a series of middlemen who are deceitful (through malice or incompetence) and extremely reluctant to tell you who's actually meant to be fulfilling the order, and then a week later if you don't get the oil you might get your money back (I did after I threatened them with a charge back) but may end up hundreds of pounds out of pocket due to now needing an emergency delivery after the prices have risen.

The alternative is to phone local suppliers direct which may take a bit longer up front but you've then got a choice of who's going to make the delivery and can choose someone you can trust - discussing any possible issues directly with them.

Do not use them

Do not use them. They sent my order to a company that went bust. I had no choice in the matter my money went where they decided. More to the point they didn't answer my calls or E mails.
DO NOT USE!!!!!!!!
I have contacted The Guardian, Sunday Times and Money Savings Expert who this company headline, as mentioned in their articles.

Fuel Tool had no way of knowing that one of our suppliers was being forced into administration. In no way was Fuel Tool irresponsible, negligent or contributory to this unfortunate situation with Evolution Fuels. Evolution Fuels, upon joining Fuel Tool was carefully vetted as we do for all of our suppliers and were required to agree to strict terms and conditions prior to trading on the website. Unfortunately, corporate solvency can happen at any time so we are very sorry that you were unfortunately involved with Evolution Fuels. This company was permanently suspended and blocked from using Fuel Tool, as soon as we became aware of any potential forthcoming financial issues. FYI, in the seven years of Fuel Tool trading, we've only had one other supplier having gone into administration, and they promptly refunded every penny back to each customer before leaving Fuel Tool.

Never Again

Used them a few months back and they passed my order to a supplier in Southend. After many calls and excuses the fuel arrived two weeks after the contracted date. Spoke to Fueltool who said they had many problems with this supplier and were removing them from their list. Based on that, three weeks ago I suggested Fueltool to my in-laws. They placed their order only to discover afterwards that it had been passed to the same supplier. You've guessed, no delivery by the contracted date. I spoke to Fueltool on their behalf who promised to get it sorted out and contact my in-laws direct with the outcome. Nothing, not even a courtesy call to say "we're looking into it". They were quite prepared to let two eighty(odd) year olds to suffer.
Don't go near this lot, use anyone else and pay an extra penny for your fuel.

Disgusting. Avoid like the plague.

Disgusting.
1. They don't show you the supplier name before you are required to place the order and pay.
2. The suppliers they have on their books are scam companies.
3. I ordered, didn't get my oil, complained to FuelTool, got hassled by some grotty chav from the so-called "fuel supplier", hung up on him, then he lied and claimed that he had cancelled my delivery because he was verbally abused on the phone!
4. I checked with Companies House. The company listed as the supplier by Fuel Tool doesn't exist! The address is false! My payment was taken by a different company name! The director of that so-called company has three similar sounding companies, all with different addresses. Total and utter scam. Fuel Tool should do due diligence.
5. 2014 Consumer Contract Regulations require online sellers to provide company name, address and location BEFORE requiring cusomers to place orders. So how is Fuel Tool even operating in compliance with the law? Beats me.
6. Never, ever again. EVER!

Hoorah!

Hoorah!
Having been left decidedly 'unloved' by Boilerjuice (again) I finally took the plunge, googled 'cheap home oil supplies' and found Fueltool. And I'm so glad I did! Below the sponsored ads and the inevitable moneysupermarket link I found Fueltool and one word convinced me to click on them - The word 'Independent.' Not only this but I found their ordering service easy to use and intuitive, the fuel arrived when they said it would, and best of all I paid less than I could get the fuel for any where else. Fueltool are now a bookmark, and I will most definitely be using them again.

Simple, efficient and reliable

I used FuelTool for the first time last month when we moved to a house that had an oil tank. Having no previous experience of either the area or the oil providers, FuelTool was a foolproof way of getting what I needed at the best available price. The system seems to work on a pricing system that the faster you want the supply, the more expensive the oil - which seemed fair enough. I opted for a 5 day delivery - my payment was taken by FuelTool and I was contacted by the oil delivery company who arrived as they said they would. All very simple and efficient - would totally recommend!
