Airport staff reported me and my 2 yesr…

Airport staff reported me and my 2 yesr old to the police because she was unhappy with flight. My daughter struggled with flight back to UK, she didn't do well and due to crying and screaming as she was tired and frustrated Gatwick airport staff called police on us due to wellbeing concerns. Not a single person came to help if they were so concern but they quickly reported to authorities!
They tracked me through CCTV, stopped me at the parking to tell me police is on the way! What a disrespectful bunch of idiots. This airport is so unsafe and it's breaking human rights, extremely unsafe!!!!!!!!

Gate Information Never Shown

had a very stressful experience at this airport on my recent flight from London to Shanghai. I arrived over 3 hours early, but the gate information never appeared on the big screens — even as departure time got closer.

Around 40 minutes before the flight, I asked staff at a nearby desk (three older men who were just chatting), but they gave me no useful help. They simply told me to wait for the gate to be shown on the screen, which it never was. With boarding expected to close 20 minutes before departure, I became increasingly anxious.

Eventually, I spoke to other passengers who were also confused and being turned away at the HELP desk. Only then did we manage to speak with the airline helpline and find the gate, with less than 10 minutes left to board. The airport did absolutely nothing to assist, and many passengers could easily have missed their flight because of this.

For an international airport, the lack of communication, poor signage, and unhelpful staff made the whole experience extremely frustrating and unprofessional.

Disgusting

Crowded, smelly, no decent food, nowhere to sit and we were over an hour late because there were no slots available. Perfect day, no bad weather but still not enough slots for Gatwick yet they want to build another runway! You can't run 1 runway let alone 2.

Parking

I’ve had to contact London Gatwick parking on two occasions to amend or change bookings and they’ve been really helpful both times. They are a pleasure to use for parking on all occasions we’ve used them parking has gone smoothly and stress free

Did not return checked iPad.

Went from here to Larnaca but when going through the security check the person opened our case to look at some creams and an iPad, gave us the case back to continue our journey, then when we got on the plane opened the case to discover he never actually put the iPad back. So not only did my daughter not have her iPad on our holiday they now want to charge us £25 to be able to collect the iPad from the south terminal!
So we are paying for their mistakes lol

Rip-off £1 per trolley

£1 per trolley - totally unnecessary! Infuriated to land into LGW to find that they now have £1 per trolley. And for those who don't have one, you pay £3 to get one from a machine. Total swindle - no one is stealing these trolleys, this is just a moneymaking scheme that ruins the customer service for those of us who struggle with our bags. Landing with 3 kids, 3 car seats, 2 suitcases and 5 hand luggage bags this was a nightmare!

South Terminal is a dump

South Terminal is a dump. Toilets completely inadequate and badly located. Departed Sat 16th August and airside toilets at the end of a ridiculously long corridor - women queueing out the door. Decor tatty and general seating reduced to a minimum so that more retail outlets can be crammed in.
Returned 31st August - baggage reclaim area far too small, packed with people and nearly run down by disabled carts that are too big for the space available. Why is there no passport queue for British passport holders only?

A Truly Awful Experience

Departed 26/08/25. First impression was pleasure at no longer having to remove liquids from bags, followed by disappointment when every single bag containing liquids had to be hand-searched. What a waste of everybody's time! Maybe this is the DfT's directive, but if so, then Gatwick Security should raise an objection to the DfT and go back to the old system of putting liquids in separate trays until the civil servants see sense!

Club Aspire Lounge was dirty with very surly staff - another disappointment.

Returning on 29/08/25 2 hours late after a diversion to find no one ready to switch on the parking guide for our stand. One ground handler turned up. After all the walking and lengthy wait at Passport Control, (only four staff for British Passport holders) we waited over 45 mins for our bags. Although our flight was 2 hours late, meaning no compensation, by the time we got to the Arrivals Hall, we were 3 hours 45 mins late. The toilets in the Baggage Reclaim area were filthy with water (I hope) all over the floor and no soap.

I honestly felt ashamed of our seemingly third world airport.

Absolute chaos!
Plane for Nice at 9.10 .
At 8.45 no gates on the time table…. Few seconds later, boarding completed so I ran like a mad man to go to the gate only to discover that the boarding did not even start….. at gate 47 there is no time table displayed and no one to talk to ( customer service) . This airport is so badly managed 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤡💩

Arrival toilets Gatwick north …

Toilets (men’s) immediately after getting off the plane at North Terminal best described as disgusting. Wife said the same about the ladies. A leading gateway into the UK and they offer facilities as bad as that

I'd give it no stars if I could

I'd give it no stars if I could. Took ages at valet car parking then we were taken from BA Business (I'm a member) to another desk then taken from a very aggressive female to another desk with a huge queue. At this point we were going to miss our flight and luckily a manager took us to the front. The staff have no idea what they're doing and are totally useless and rude. Worst airport in the UK. Avoid!

An absolute shambles of an airport

An absolute shambles of an airport. I really don't understand how it can be so busy and so inefficient. I have flown through Gatwick many times, but never anywhere near as bad as this experience. I had cleared security at Glasgow and thought that was me airside. No, back out to land side and the absolute carnage of security checks. Considering I was scheduled to have a 3 hour connection time, having to run to the departure gate to catch the flight is unacceptable. On my return 5 days later it was no better. Looked like four very busy flights trying to collect their bags from one carousel, it was dreadful and extremely unsafe with people jumping over each other and there was a couple of nasty looking falls. There were several other carousels unused, so makes me think this was a cost cutting exercise. Feel sorry for the staff at the sharp end of this debacle. Never again.

1) Security the most badly managed…

1) Security the most badly managed airport ... miss our flight two month ago.. there was a change in July .. took 8 minutes to clear .. was quick from tapping your boarding pass to clear security ... liquid .. 1) Put it in your bag 2) For this line ... training line you should take out your liquid .. We are mind readers !!!
July 25: Damaged suitcase ... dented .. no compensation can still be used happy days 😂😂😂you give them a PURFECT suitcase ... get damaged ..very poor customer care by easyJet !!!
If I had a choice I do not travel from Gatwick ... still feel traumatised by the experience !!!
We had a bad experience with Easy jet damaged our suitcase 17th July 25.. dented claim under Airline guidelines won't be replaced !!!
1) Take photo before you send it to cargo .. 2) Take photo on Carousel at Airport 3) Keep your receipt safe and the tag on the suitcase 3) Report and fill form at airport 4) Claim within 7 days 5) claim under Montreal Convention 6) send all documents
Hope that helps ..

If zero was an option

If zero was an option, that would be the rating of this review - we've been waiting an hour and a half for our luggage with not a single sign - finally after having to go up to the GBS desk we found out that they are unable to get the luggage off the plane. Not one person from GBS or the airport have thought of applying a bit of customer service common sense to come and tell us all. After the 4th enquiry from as many different passengers, the GBS staff have left their desks and gone in to their backroom rather than face more customers.

Misinformed and overcharged

On 24th of July around 18:00, I went to the Wizz Air check-in counter at Gatwick to complete check-in and purchase extra baggage for a trip with multiple connecting flights. I clearly and repeatedly told the airport staff (ground handler) that I needed the baggage to be added for the entire journey—not just one segment of the journey. This was discussed several times over a 30+ minute interaction.

Despite my efforts to clarify, the staff member gave me incorrect information throughout. He charged me £300 for the bags and guaranteed that this covered all segments of the trip. I even asked for an itemized breakdown due to the high cost, but he couldn’t explain it properly—yet continued to reassure me that everything was in order and that I was fully covered.

The result? The payment only applied to one segment of the journey. I had to pay another £300+ at the next airport to check the same baggage for the remaining parts. What was supposed to be a smooth and beautiful travel experience turned into a stressful, frustrating, and expensive ordeal.

I was misinformed, misled, and left feeling scammed. I expected far better service and accountability from an international airport like Gatwick. If you can avoid it, I strongly recommend doing so.
