Gilson Gray handled a sale and a purchase of property for us.
We were kept fully informed at all stages of the transactions and the final completions were dealt with very efficiently.
Kirsten, our solicitor, was courteous, helpful and totally professional throughout. This made everything as stress free as it could possibly be.
I would highly recommend Gilson Gray for any property transactions you may be considering.

Rachel Greig acted as my solicitor for a recent flat purchase. She was consistently helpful, communicated clearly and kept me well informed throughout the process. I would highly recommend her services.

After some poor communication initially I was put in touch with Xulin and she was excellent from start to finish. She was very reassuring throughout, always had time for my phone calls and really helped me navigate the stressful process as a first time buyer.

I cannot speak highly enough of Alana Arthur and Laura Gillespie at Gilson Gray for the support they provided throughout my property purchase.
The transaction became particularly challenging towards completion, with a number of issues arising around the factoring position that required additional work and careful handling at very short notice.
Throughout this, Alana was extremely professional, reassuring and, most importantly, made sure that my interests were fully protected before allowing the purchase to proceed.
Laura was also fantastic, particularly during the final stages when things became quite stressful. She was proactive in looking into matters, keeping things moving and helping get everything across the line.
What impressed me most was that despite the complications on completion day, the team continued working through the issues, put the necessary legal protections in place and ultimately managed to get the transaction concluded and the keys released that same day.
Buying a property can be stressful enough without unexpected issues appearing at the last minute, and having people who remain calm, professional and focused on protecting their client makes an enormous difference.
A huge thank you to Alana and Laura for all of their help, patience and hard work. I genuinely appreciate everything you both did to get me into my new home.
Would absolutely recommend Gilson Gray and, in particular, Alana and Laura.

As a first time buyer, I really appreciated Xulin's help with how the process works, she was always available to answer questions and guide me through the buying process. Xulin specifically and Gilson Gray overall have been quick, organised and helpful!

Deborah Bonner was exceptional at sales. She met with us and gathered our history and our wishes regarding the flat. She was always available by phone text or email. Always reported viewings and how they had gone with a little insight to how they had gone well or otherwise.
Kirsten was also very good and my only criticism would be that everything was done by email and it would have been nice to speak some things over thephone(Old School!!)
But as a team well done in difficult circumstances.

Highly recommend Gilson Gray if you’re looking to sell a property in Aberdeen. Kirsten Dickie handled our conveyancing and was excellent throughout the entire process. She kept us well informed at every stage, was responsive and professional, and ensured everything progressed smoothly through to completion. The transaction on moving day went seamlessly. A great service from start to finish.

Recommended by a local estate agent Rook Mathew Sayer, but frankly I wish the hadn't.
Quite simply it is just the basics they get wrong for me; not proactively keeping you up to date and when you call, after not receiving email responses, it's like you're an inconvenience.
Completion date was proposed for the 1st of September, but I don't know if this is possible and can't get any answers from my conveyancer. I send emails I ring, however she is busy with completions and then just fails to respond for the rest of the day.
I'm now in the process of trying to organise temporary accommodation, which will delay the purchase for several months and mean that I need to re-negotiate my mortgage offer.
Given the stress involved in a house move, just offer the basics in the first instance; even a holding response would give comfort that someone actually cares about you.
Additional information sent 31/8 and so Gilson Gray’s response makes no sense

Working with Steven has been an exceptional experience.
From our first conversation, he combined deep expertise with something I value equally highly, judgement. He was thoughtful, pragmatic and extremely knowledgeable, but never allowed technical expertise to get in the way of clear, practical advice.
Throughout the process, Steven managed my expectations exceptionally well. He was candid when he needed to be, responsive when it mattered, and genuinely collaborative in developing the strategy and approach. I never felt as though advice was simply being delivered to me, we worked through the issues together, testing assumptions, considering the evidence and determining the strongest way forward.
What also stood out was Steven's integrity. I never felt like a fee opportunity. Quite the opposite, when something genuinely required his expertise, he was there immediately, when it didn't, he was equally comfortable telling me so rather than allowing unnecessary costs to accumulate. That created a level of trust which, particularly when navigating something complex and important, was invaluable.
That combination of expertise, responsiveness, commercial judgement and intellectual partnership gave me enormous confidence at what was inevitably a challenging time.
He was also generous enough to describe one particularly collaborative piece of work as “a work of art” made stronger with his input.
Steven is an outstanding lawyer and, just as importantly, an excellent person to have beside you when the stakes matter. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.

Wouldn’t even give a one star, disgusting approach to selling a house, taken over 6 mths to exchange contracts , no chain involved , my son already lost money and now his buyer threatening to pull out of the sale so he could lose his new house. Paperwork sent back due to mis-spellings on names and incorrect data , honestly you couldn’t make it up! . This is the Lincoln branch, useless !!!

The "stress" of being a first time buyer was non existent thanks to the great service and advice from Kirsten Dickie and Courtney Gray. I highly recommend

Avoid these people like the absolute plague. The sale and purchase of an onward property took 314 days! Over half of those days were me having to chase up responses and answers made by this company, which ended up with me paying them, for me to do their job! Their response rate is horrific, getting any sort of information and update out of them is worse than getting teeth pulled at the dentist. Made the entire stressful process debilitating.
And here I am over a year after completion still being identified as the person responsible for management fees for the property I left, with Gilson Gray holding onto money relating to the sale, and no one can answer an email or a call and tell my why I still seem to be responsible on paper for a property I have not lived in for over a year!

We had a very positive experience with Gilson Gray throughout the purchase of our new home. Our solicitor Rachel Greig was professional, helpful and kept us well informed throughout the process. Everything was handled efficiently, making the whole experience as smooth and stress-free as possible. We would happily recommend them.

The service was efficient in the end, but I think they could have been more assertive with the buyers Solicitors who kept asking irrelevant questions

I was recommended Gilson Gray by my Mortgage Advisor and they were absolutely phenomenal. As a first time buyer, the whole process was completely new to me but the solicitors who were overseeing my purchase were so patient and kind, taking the time to answer my questions and didn't make me feel as though I was a nuisance.
Rowan in the Aberdeen office was really great and efficient when my offer had been accepted and broke down the process for me in an easily understandable way. Courtney Gray was also fantastic as she helped me put offers in for properties and advised me on what would be the best strategy.
Would highly recommend Gilson Gray for anyone looking to purchase a property.

I set out to sell my 5 year old bungalow in a desirable area of Lincolnshire. I was not buying another property and within a week of advertising by a local estate agent, we agreed a sale with the 2nd person to view it, on 31st July 2025. The young lady was living in rented accommodation so no chain was involved.
I was recommended to use Gilson Gray for the legal aspects via MoveWithUs Conveyancing and my estate agent.
I should have heeded warning signs one week after completing my online ID information, when my estate agent contacted me to say that Gilson Gray claimed that they had not been engaged by me to handle the sale. The estate agent rang them back and I was sent forms to complete. These forms were buyer forms and I was the seller. After highlighting this significant oversight, the correct forms were resent and I completed and returned them.
I was then assigned a “single point of contact,” my conveyancer. This was the middle of October, three months into the process. She told me that the completion date would be twelve weeks after they received my signed contract.
I understand that my buyer gave notice on her rented accommodation, anticipating completion by or just after Christmas 2025 and moved back into her parents house.
Immediately after the return to work in January 2026, I was assigned another “single point of contact,” a conveyancing executive by Gilson Grays Operations Manager, who said that she was fully up to speed with my case. This conveyancing executive left the business in April 2026 and I was assigned a third “single point of contact” who I was assured was fully up to speed with my case. She was assigned by a different Operations Manager.
I have had emails from at least ten different names at Gilson Gray over the year; communication has been generally awful throughout, only responding after prompts from me or my estate agent on numerous occasions.
The completion eventually happened 1 week after the scheduled date, in mid July 2026. Fifty weeks and one day after my first contact with Gilson Gray.
Miraculously my buyer stayed with the sale because she really wanted the bungalow and I am grateful to her but I wished I had never heard of Gilson Gray. My advice is to use any other conveyancing company instead! The costs were almost double what I had originally been told; I settled the fees and eventually received my final payment in mid August 2026. A thoroughly dreadful and stressful experience throughout. Do not use Gilson Gray!

We had a long and difficult process due to a chain in England that held back the process for ourselves and 2 others! Our solicitor Alan Craig worked tirelessly to try and get updates/information which was often difficult but finally got it over the line with our house sale. A long stressful 4 months! Many thanks to Alan for keeping us informed with any news that came in during the process and I'm sure he will be like us glad to finally get a result.

Taya Milstead at gilson Gray, has been outstanding and very understanding throughout the entire, traumatic process. Together we have climbed a mountain and got safely back to the finishing post. Thankyou Taya

Thank you so much to Danielle on helping us with our house purchase. She worked so hard to get our purchase through in a short space of time (67 day!) I was updated on everything that happened and explained the process brilliantly especially being a first time buyer. All our queries were answered quickly too. Thank you again!
