Hackers' Heaven

DO NOT EVER USE gmx mail for anything important. I almost lost 5 million dollars because I used gmx as one of the backup emails. At first, I thought I did something wrong, so I created another gmx.com email accounts to fix the hack problem. About a month later, all 3 of the gmx.com email accounts, hackers got in and update all the information in the background like back up email and such... HERE IS THE KICKER, I DID NOT receive any email or text notifying me of the changes/update, which led me to believe that it's an INSIDER JOB!

Either way, DO NOT RISK IT!

The very best of all mail services

I am surprised to see so many bad feedbacks as I have been using GMX for more than 10 years with 4 addresses with no problem at all. I chose it for its superior advantages to others, unlimited storage, can join files up to 50 Mb, very efficient spam filter, no ads, opens and performs quickly, and plenty of other services. I also have other providers but they are not half as good.

Would be zero stars if could

Would be zero stars if could. Setup account, within 24 hours blocked, "contact support". Support has crap attitude, with little more than "Security" as a reason. I'm certainly doing nothing wrong or breaking any of their policies. Further correspondence just ignored. Go elsewhere.

Blocked account upon creation

Blocked account upon creation, no explanation other than “security”.

I did not use a VPN, used my home IP, and the account was blocked within seconds of creation and support said it was not reversible.

The likely explanation is that they block US customers, but without an explanation from them this is extremely poor service.

It is just getting worse with every year

Removed a majority of e-mails from the past without warning, no customer service whatsoever (sorry GMX, a "bot" chat is not customer service), constantly blocking/changing remote access. I tolerated a lot from this company over almost 15 years but now it became unbearable. Moving to a more reliable provider.

Absolutely appalling attitude and (lack of) service. Basically this exceptionally offensive guy accused us of lying when we said we’d been promised a taxi within two minutes…even though we’d received an earlier email confirming the time and chased by phone three times. This is the most disgusting customer service I have ever received in any line of business. Do not even think about using this firm, they deserve nothing but to go bust.

Viruses. Porno German scam emails in your box. Poor Customer Support. You Might Get Blocked From Your Account At The Drop Of A Hat. .... Don't Use Them.

I used GMX email for years (about 14 years+) to be exact. I was a frequent user and I was really happy with them. It was my only email address for all my business.
Then 3 years ago, I started getting sexually explicit messages from obscure German email boxes. Every time I'd block them then more would appear. I had good security on my box (supposedly) and excellent Anti Virus on my computer, plus I use a VPN, so couldn't understand this. (I speak some German so I was able to read what was being sent to me!)
I reported this to GMX, but it never completely went away. I just ignored and deleted the messages. Then last year I started getting messages saying my information (I'd only given very basic) needed to be updated ... and then finally I received several communications from them saying that they were changing their server and I would lose access to my account if I didn't make the necessary change.
I'd no idea what was going on so I contacted their customer support (not very easy to do) and received no response other than a further link to change to the new app. The link WAS LOADED WITH VIRUSES.
In the end (after cleaning my computer up) I just opened a new email box elsewhere and transferred my important business contacts over to the new box and then completely deleted the GMX one. I lost a lot of sentimental emails from the archive though - I had to delete them.
I tried their site as if I was a new customer and it told me that their services were no longer available in the UK and I could only have an account with them if I was in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. They had never told me this.
All in all it's been a horrendous experience the last few years with them and having to contact all my officialdom to change my email box on their records has been rather traumatic to say the least.
I've just seen something on one of the forums discussing GMX which says that they have a lot of 'rogue' employees who cause problems for users? I wonder if that's where the explicit German emails were coming from?
I'm really disappointed with them. I didn't want to have to leave after all those years, but the change is made now and I've gone to one of the larger, hopefully more reliable companies.

Don't risk and don't trust GMX

After ~6 months of using mail without any problems I got banned for no reason. Problem is that I kept migration service documents there and now when I lost access I have to re-apply for residence permit. 2 years lost because of the GMX. Support is neither answering, nor trying to do anything for months.
They can't even do email forwarding to my other e-mail. Tried calling to gmx.de support but was directed to use gmx.com support.

gmx.de and gmx.com are different companies but they are part of the same group. If God is real please help.

Shocking service

Shocking service, gmx severs blocked by spam filters for outgoing mail by the likes of spamhaus, a filter used by thousands of businesses. Instead of getting the IPs unblocked they just tell you to speak to the receivers to get on a whitelist.

Not reliable

Not reliable. I used it for 1 year through Thunderbird and never had any problems until today. The system is simply blocked me out for no reason. I used very strong password, i only used alias or relay with moderate usage, never give my login email to anyone, and basically i just used it receiving emails.
I was expected it, so all important emails comes via proton and gmail so not too much damage.
Update: "We regret to inform you, the account in question must remain blocked"

ARE YOU FOR REAL .. GMX?!

I decided to try a new email acc with GMX. I already have one with GMX, with no issues, but I decided to try an address, more personal to me. I managed to obtain the address which I hoped for but when I tried, Note...for the very first time, to log in, I was alerted to a security issue and was blocked, WHAT?!!
Multiple tries to obtain a text didn't work. No recovery was offered through my chosen, 'alternative email', so I had to waste my time, trying to email customer support.
UPDATE .... After one last attempt to receive a text, because customer support is so lame, it finally worked. WHAT A LONG WINDED EXPERIENCE TO RECOVER AN EMAIL ADDRESS.
Whether I'll use my new email address for anything serious, I'm not so sure.

Password Insanity

If someone is already in their email account but they have forgotten their password, and for that reason alone they need to create a new password that they can remember - then it is indeed insanity to request the old password (that they can't remember) to create a new one. At least have the option of verification questions - mother's maiden name, place of birth, etc. Password culture has become a digital prison.

They are sending you spam messages

They are sending you spam messages, ask and demand personal information that they absolutely do not need in order to sell them (e.g. they want your phone number, passport scan etc.). Do not create an account here!! Let them rot and get bankrupt as they deserve to
