Horrible Service, overpriced, hidden costs, poor UI, no support network.

I've used gmx for years and their previous customer services were second to none, now it's just none. When you need them for a problem with access, they send an automated response (like we haven't tried all those things suggested), then nothing, nada, zilch. It's customer service without the human touch, which means, no customer service at all.
I'm looking elsewhere.

Half of my account is gone. I set up the email with Outlook, receiving emails works - but not sending. I double-checked; it is set up correctly. When I try to log in directly at gmx on their page, I get an unspecific answer like account or password wrong. When I tried to reset the password (although it is the correct one - otherwise I wouldn't receive emails) I got the message that my account does not exist. So, it is partially gone. I'm still receiving emails through Outlook, can't send, can't log in on the gmx page. I emailed them to resolve the matter a few days ago but I'm not sure, anyone reads it as of yet.

Ahh! Something is very off with this service… a few days ago my emails stopped loading on my iPhone mail app so I tried to login on browser, which said was invalid. I sent a reset link to my other email (which was correct according to the message gmx gave me of where they sent recovery)… Nothing! I never received the recovery so I messaged support and gave a different contact email. Support sends me a response asking for a large list of info, which I thought was strange, but I answered questions to the best of my knowledge… like when did I open the acct… it’s been well over 17 years. Now, when I look at my messages on my iPhone that I did have they are all gone, so I assumed they were resetting my email acct. I have still not received any response from gmx and it has been hours. This really makes me nervous, because I have used this email for so long and have very important info going to it. Please do not get comfortable with this email service. You need to protect your info with a provider who at least has a customer service number! I always get messages in German as well. I have gotten German messages for years!! Obviously the security could be much higher for that reason alone. I do not click on ANY links in my email, so not sure why or how my account was hacked.

I had GMX mail service for at least 15 years. Then one day I could not sign in. It stated that my account was being blocked because they believed it was sending spam or had hacked. Now it’s my fault that I trusted this service and never backed up all the important emails I had received over the years. But I have used all the means offered to me to get my account unlocked without success. This has been 8 days of total frustration. We have exchanged several emails attempting to resolve this problem without success. If I know what I know now I would have never created an account. There’s no human contact when the email route has been exhausted. So I have lost 14 years of important information in one day without any means of ever having access to it again. No thank you GMX

Been using GMX for years and was really happy (prvate not business) but lately the inbox won´t load, due to the massive amount of advertsing (mostly Temu ugh) its really slow.Missed a job opportunity cause emal with offer was received after 2 weeks. Switching to gmail..really poor.

They blocked my account for "unusual activity" (It's probably because I connect via VPN).
After contacting them, I got no response so I basically lost all my emails... Not great!

Scam email purporting to be from UK Job Seekers Allowance from qiehaoli183 AT gmx.com have reported to gmx.com but their website looks like pure trash.
After reading reviews here am now expecting more emails from gmx.com accounts trying to scam me!
(Ps I don't hold an account with them and wouldn't looking at the state of it)

cannot access my inbox not received any new emails for a week ,comes up with old spam when i click on inbox on i phone.Says server unavailable due to technical error on i pad, complete nightmare.

GMX has become reliably unreliable.

Do not use for anything important because you get blocked FOR NO REASON and there is no way to get timely help.

Random and frequent blocked access.

Asks to send a verification code to your phone number...but never arrives.

Frustrating, business loss, opportunity loss.
Just dreadful.

Alternate email options needed.

It's been hell recently. I've been a customer for 15 years with multiple email addresses. I have lost access to my oldest one as GMX decided to lock my account, perhaps they didn't like that I'm using a VPN.

I have been unable to regain access to said account because my name that I entered into the GMX personal info form did not include my 2nd and 3rd name. So the entire ID verification thing fails. Customer service can't help me.

Now with another email account that I have with them, they have started to block my outgoing emails. 7 outgoing emails have been marked as spam.
I'm using the email client on my iPhone.

I switch to the GMX web UI, that has worked for a couple of times. UNTIL TODAY. I'm no longer able to send emails. Again, I assume they don't like that I'm using a VPN (which I have to for security reasons).

I'm trying to leave GMX. I hate them now.

Many emails never get received. I have tried to register to a few websites and had to use a alternate email.
Also was running a VPN when Thunderbird client tried to access their sever which caused GMX to think I was getting hacked. It will happen even with Hotmail/Outlook. I tried to contact GMX to fix and they are unreachable. Not worth the hassle.

Forgot my password then was permanently blocked. What kind of service is this?

I am using GMX FreeMail and counted this morning. Out of 7 new email in my inbox 6 were adverts. Unbelievable.

There appears to be no ability to forward emails any longer. I had one of my GMX emails set up to forward automatically to one of my Outlook emails. Fine, all good; I no longer needed to do that in 2023, so stopped that feature. This week I've been attempting to set up another of my GMX emails to Outlook but the feature is no longer there! You cannot create a rule to forward now. But...why? And I try to individually forward emails sent to that GMX address to my Outlook, but all I get are bouncebacks. The Outlook email is fine as I am receiving direct emails to it no problem - the issue is clearly GMX as they got rid of this handy (and in business, necessary) feature.

Really excellent service with good communication. Friendly driver. Would definitely recommend

I was very happy with gmx.com until I tried to add my cell # and also create a new account. Seems you can only have 1 account on cell #? I only have 1 cell. Support representatives were useless. Looking for something else

Ridiculous password security then account blocked before It even registered for security reasons. Yeah, super safe as you can't even create it in the first place. Waste of time, they used to be okay.

I had 2 email addresses with them. Unfortunately one of my phones failed. I had one of 2 emails on a spare phone. I tried to log into gmx I was connected with a german site! Next the other cell phone stopped charging. I had important emails . Lost forever. Do not use this email. Use proton
