As an author, I am unable to claim my work, even though I've tried time and time again, and made them aware of the issue repeatedly. In order for an author to claim their name on Goodreads, they... See more

Goodreads is life.

I think I fell in love with Goodreads the first time I ever used it.
It was like having my bookshelf there on my laptop screen. Only better in way, as I could add books that I no longer owned, I could rank them, review them, track how many I had read in a year. I could talk about them with my friends and earmark those books that I wanted to read in the future.
Four years on, and I use it almost religiously. Every book that I read I add to my "Currently Reading" and I take great pleasure in watching my "Read" shelf grow. (About as much as I do watching them actually grow on my actual shelves!)
And I have to say that Goodreads are always working on improving and upgrading their site. And they do so with no great fanfare, no glitches or self-promo. Just silently just making the whole experience better for us bibliophiles, so that every time I notice an improvement I get so excited I have to tell everyone that I know about it.
They've recently (or at least I've only just noticed) added a feature to track when you re-read a book, and I can't tell you how excited this makes me. They even allow these books to count towards your reading challenges, so rereading those books that I loved so much the first time feel even more valid and worthy of my time.
I love how I can interact with my friends through it too. I know how many books they've read, if I want to buy them a book I can check if they've already read it, and I can see their opinions on the books that they're reading too.
I also love the "Goodreads Authors" feature. I can actually send questions and interact with my favourite authors through Goodreads.
I can also take quizes, vote on my favourite books of the year, read and search for quotes on any imaginable subject from the literary world. I can find new books to read, group certain books together, and even take part in competitions.
Goodreads is the social media for the bibliophile. It is the Facebook of the bookworms. The twitter of the ink and paper champions. I can't imagine anything that would ever compete with it.
I just simply adore it.

Great resource for readers and writers

I've posted reviews on this site, and have gotten tips from others about what books are worth reading. It's a great way to learn what others think about a book, and authors can get a sense of how their work is impacting their audience.

Have you read anything good lately? Check out Goodreads

In the old days, the search for new reading idea wasn't too easy for me sometimes. Not many of my friends and workplace pals share my literary passion. I would often resort to NY Times book reviews for ideas, but I found my own personal taste didn't always match with what was popular.
I have slowly caught up with the internet age, although I resisted for a while, but one of the best websites I've found is Goodreads. It's almost as if it is a custom tailored website for exactly what I like to use the internet for. I like the social element of it more than other social networking sites on which so many posts come that are unrelated to my interests.
I have gotten some of the best suggestions ever from this site for reading. Some of these books have changed my life. I have even been inspired to start writing myself, and I'm working on an e-book. They have an awesome writer's program which helps authors network with potential readers which I plan to use.
I'm really excited that Goodreads is coming to Kindle Fire. I will be on it all the time!
When I need guidance and inspiration I also love to search their quotation database. You can search by keyword or by author.

Beautiful Community of Like-Minded People

I'll keep it brief and to the point.

Goodreads is home to, amongst other things: (a) a huge array of groups to suit your particular reading interests, (b) a great way of looking up books and reading reviews., (c) a nice way to receive book recommendations, (d) an innovative way to track your reading progress and catalogue your own library,

Discuss your favourite books and authors with like-minded people. Go on, you know you want to!

Books, books, books

A wonderful and pleasant place to store what you have read and share reviews with others including your friends. I absolutely love that I can be standing in the bookstore looking at a book and can pull up goodreads on my phone to find out if the book is worth buying or not! Love it!

The community for readers

A good friend of mine recommended me this website and I found it quite interesting. In this world of social media and brand new communities anywhere for anything, it had to be also one dedicated to readers and books. It works as any other community of its kind, you can rate books, upload your "shelves" and tell the people what are you reading currently. A funny thing, they sent me an e-mail because I took so long to upload about a book I was reading, so it kinda preassured me to finish it, but of course, you can always unsubscribe to shuch e-mails.
